My review relates specifically to the holiday classes at Little Artists; I can’t comment on their regular term-time programmes. My child attended a holiday class at Little Artists, and initially the experience was positive. She was receiving clear guidance and learning new skills, which we were very encouraged by. We even enrolled her in an additional class and considered switching her to Little Artists once the school term began. However, after only a few lessons, it became apparent that she was often left to work on her own with little direction. My child is used to an inquiry-based approach, however this wasn’t the case at Little Artists. One teacher also spent time going between classrooms and wasn’t always present. My child is also naturally quiet and doesn’t always raise her hand to ask for help — precisely why we expect teachers to proactively check in on students from time to time. During her final lesson, I asked the teacher what she would be working on for the remaining two hours. The teacher suggested that she could reglue a very small piece of fabric (approximately 1 cm × 4 cm) that had fallen off one of her artworks, and stated that this alone would take about 20 minutes. Only after further prompting did the teacher casually suggest that my child could also return to working on a digital piece if she wished — despite being enrolled in a fashion class, not a digital art class. Overall, there appears to be very little structure or clear planning behind the holiday lessons. Unfortunately, the holiday programme feels less like a thoughtfully designed art class and more like a drop-off childcare arrangement.

The teachers push you to figure out your own style, letting you figure out your art journey with very specific and helpful critiques. In a very short time i have greatly improved as an artist.
