About MathGenius
MathGenius is a private mathematics tuition provider operating islandwide from its base at Coronation Plaza on Bukit Timah Road. It is KakiList verified, meaning operating details and contact channels have been confirmed by a real person. The service carries a Google rating of 4.7 out of 5, though this is based on 15 reviews, so the rating should be treated as directional rather than definitive. Pricing is indicated at the mid-range tier ($$), though specific per-session or monthly fees are not published and should be confirmed directly with the provider.
When enquiring, parents and students are encouraged to share the child's current level, the syllabus in use (MOE, IGCSE, IB, or other), and the specific topics or examination papers causing difficulty. This allows MathGenius to advise on the most appropriate format — whether a group class or one-to-one session — and to confirm whether the tutor's experience is a strong match for the student's needs. It is worth asking about a trial class to gauge teaching style and level appropriateness before committing to a term. Also clarify whether sessions are conducted at the Coronation Plaza centre, at the student's home, or online, and what notice is required to reschedule.
To take the next step, reach out to MathGenius via WhatsApp, phone, or the online enquiry form to share your child's level and syllabus, ask about current availability, and arrange a trial class before making any term commitment.
Take the trial class and confirm the tutor's actual credentials before committing to a term.
Our son Lucas attended Mr Wong’s bootcamp in Dec 2024 and subsequently we were given detailed feedback on his strengths and areas to improve. We were very impressed and without hesitation enrolled him for the maths tuition with Mr Wong. Lucas was scoring AL 5-6 with very erratic problem solving skills and we were simply elated when he achieved AL3 for PSLE recently. Kudos to Genius Plus Academy - keep up the good work
The mathematics classes for upper primary were well organised, well taught and with lots of practice. Dr Eileen Toh is a 5 star teacher who knows her kids well, able to customise approach and fun to learn with.
Before joining Mr Wong at Genius Plus Academy, my son had a brain block from exam anxiety due to lack of practice. The last straw for us came when he just passed his Maths tests before his P6 prelims. We were desperate and via google we found Genius Plus Academy after having gone through a few positive reviews on the website. Initially we did a trial group class, but it was clear that my son needed individual attention to help him improve due to the limited time that we had before his P6 prelims and PSLE. We are Catholics and through our prayers we really believed that Mr JY Wong is a God sent teacher for our son as we saw significant improvements in his P6 prelims which he managed to score 78, but had it not been some simple careless mistakes he would have achieved between 85-90. Mr Wong helped my son to gain confidence by doing a lot of mock practice exam papers and guided him on the best and most appropriate method to solve the problems. Most importantly, via sheer dedication and hard work Mr Wong has really helped my son to improve significantly in his Maths to the point that he was confident that he can do well for his PSLE Maths exam. At least he came out of the recently concluded exams feeling confident. We signed my son up for Maths but just before PSLE Mr Wong also helped him with his English and Science even though we did'nt sign him up for it. To us Mr JY Wong is really a God sent teacher who is dedicated, thorough and precise in knowing how to help your child improve significantly. We are truly grateful to him!
Join GPA during P6 Term1 when my child scoring AL6 for Math. Desperately looking for tuition for my son. Miss Eileen responded promptly regarding to slots availability and also requested for my son’s TA1 paper to assess his problem first. Mr Wong’s class has helped my child’s grades improved from AL6 to AL5 in TA2 and AL4 in preliminary exam. Mr Wong’s explanation is clear, speaks at a slower and steady pace for weak students to follow, remind students common mistakes people make and avoid doing funny stuff. The lessons conducted are cast on huge TV screen placed at few angles so that each students able to see teacher’s writing, digital tools use to draw models with different colours to showcase a neat and easy to understand working. Constant updates and reprint on workbook, June intense class training with categorised of types of problems to help students to tackle problem in systematic ways. During June intensive class and 10yrs series PSLE online classes, Miss Eileen and Mr Wong would take turns to teach. I would say there is a lot of materials provided and online recorded past live classes offered by GPA for students. To improve it also takes both ways, the parents need to encourage children to make time to complete the 10yrs worth of PSLE papers, students need to put in effort to correct their mistakes and bad math habits that has already sunk in. Students are always reminded to listen to explanations and not to busy copying as answers will be provided later in pdf. All classes are video recorded for students to replay. My expectation for math is AL5 for my child, jumping from AL6 (45-65) to AL5 (65-74) requires a lot of effort (20marks) for weaker students. I wish I should have send my child earlier than scramble the last minute.
Found this centre via google search and sent my child for trial. He’s made improvements and looked forward to the lessons. Mr Wong would also follow up with feedback after school exams. I can see increased confidence in my child in tackling this subject and had jumped from AL5 in P5’s EOY to AL3 in prelims. Kudos to Mr Wong’s/Mrs Toh’s commitment as well! 👍🏼

MathGenius has not published a specific per-session rate, so you will need to enquire directly for current pricing. As a general reference, private mathematics tuition in Singapore typically ranges from S$40–S$80 per hour for group sessions and S$60–S$150 or more per hour for one-to-one lessons, depending on the tutor's experience and the student's level. When you enquire, ask whether fees are charged per session, as a monthly package, or on a per-term basis. Also confirm whether there is a separate materials fee, and whether a sibling discount or multi-subject package is available. A trial class may be offered at a reduced rate or as part of the first session fee — clarify this upfront before committing. See the full Private Tutors cost guide for Singapore →
It is reasonable to request a trial class before signing up for a full term, and many private tuition providers in Singapore offer this as standard practice. Contact MathGenius directly via WhatsApp or phone to ask whether a trial session is available and whether it is charged at the regular rate or a reduced introductory fee. During the trial, observe how the tutor explains concepts, whether the pace suits your child, and how the student responds to the teaching style. A well-matched session should leave the student with at least one concept clarified and a sense of what regular lessons will look like. If the level or approach does not feel right after the trial, say so — it is much easier to find a better fit before committing to a term fee than afterwards.
MathGenius has not published specific tutor credentials on its listing, so it is advisable to ask directly before booking. Key questions to raise include whether the tutor holds an NIE-recognised teaching qualification or a relevant mathematics degree, how many years of teaching experience they have, and which syllabuses they are familiar with — for example, MOE Primary or Secondary Mathematics, Additional Mathematics, H1 or H2 Mathematics for A-Level, IGCSE, or IB. Also confirm whether the same tutor will consistently teach your child throughout the engagement, as continuity can have a meaningful impact on a student's progress. If your child is preparing for a specific examination such as PSLE, O-Level, or A-Level, ask whether the tutor has recent experience guiding students through that particular paper. Take the trial class and confirm the tutor's actual credentials before committing to a term.
If MathGenius isn't the right fit, these are other private tutors providers on KakiList worth shortlisting. All are independently listed — no affiliate fees, no "featured" sponsorships.
