About NHG Yishun Polyclinic

About NHG Yishun Polyclinic

NHG Yishun Polyclinic is a public primary care facility located at 2 Yishun Ave 9, serving residents across the Yishun and northern Singapore area. KakiList has verified the operating details and contact channels. The clinic holds a 3/5 rating across 348 Google reviews — a robust sample that warrants attention; prospective patients should read recent reviews to understand current wait-time and service experience norms. As a public polyclinic under the National Healthcare Group, fees are subsidised for Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents, making it substantially more affordable than private GP or specialist consultations for eligible patients.

Patients typically attend NHG Yishun Polyclinic for acute GP consultations, chronic disease management, health screening, vaccinations, and polyclinic referrals to public hospital specialist outpatient clinics (SOC). The polyclinic referral pathway is the standard route to subsidised specialist care — a referral letter from the polyclinic allows patients to be seen at a public hospital SOC at subsidised rates (typically S$30–80 for Singapore Citizens), compared with S$120–250 for direct private specialist walk-ins. For chronic conditions covered under the Chronic Disease Management Programme (CDMP) — including hypertension, diabetes, lipid disorders, asthma, stroke, COPD, and selected mental health conditions — patients may use MediSave to offset outpatient consultation and medication costs within the S$500–700 annual withdrawal limits. Health screening packages under the Screen for Life programme are available at reduced rates for eligible Singapore Citizens. Referrals are coordinated through the clinic's administrative team, and patients with Integrated Shield Plans should note that polyclinic visits are generally billed directly under subsidised rates rather than through private insurance claims.

To book an appointment, contact NHG Yishun Polyclinic by phone or through the online form; same-day walk-in slots are available subject to queue, and advance bookings are recommended for chronic disease reviews and health screening to avoid long waits.

27 Jan 2026 I had an appointment at Yishun Polyclinic scheduled for 4:10pm. There were two patients ahead of me, and I saw the doctor attend to both of them. Later, a nurse with short hair came out and called my name, but she then went back into the room and walked away without informing me of anything. I continued waiting, and two more patients were called ahead of me. By then, it was already past 5:00pm. I only got to see the doctor at around 5:15pm. I was running a fever and was supposed to complete my X-ray and blood test before 4:30pm in order to receive the results on the same day. Because of the delay, I missed the cut-off timing and had to return to the polyclinic the next day to complete the tests. This caused unnecessary inconvenience, especially when I was already unwell. It was very frustrating to experience this, particularly when appointments are scheduled with specific times. If appointment slots are given, I hope the polyclinic can better manage the flow and communication with patients, and adhere more closely to the scheduled timings. 28 Jan 2026 I didn’t expect to have to leave two reviews on two consecutive days, but here we are. I had a scheduled appointment at Yishun Polyclinic with the following timings: X-ray at 10:00am, blood test at 10:30am, and doctor consultation at 11:00am. My queue number was 21xx. I only managed to go for the X-ray at 10:30am. The X-ray itself was done quite quickly, so I thought things were moving along. After that, I went to the counter to ask where I should go next for the blood test. I was told to wait just outside the counter and that they would call my number. I waited 40 minutes and was never called. During this time, I noticed queue numbers 23xx and 24xx already being served. I went back to the counter to check, and only then did the receptionist realise that I had been missed. She explained that my number was not transferred over from the X-ray department, which was why I was never called. As a result, I only took my blood test at 11:15am. I was then informed that I needed to wait another hour for the results before seeing the doctor. Realistically, this meant I would only see the doctor around 1:00pm, despite having an 11:00am appointment. The time management at Yishun Polyclinic is extremely poor. I have been to Punggol and Khatib Polyclinics, and the experience there is completely different. At Khatib, the X-ray and blood test are done side by side and completed within 15 minutes. Test results are ready within 15–20 minutes, you see the doctor, and you are done. They respect patients’ time. If you value efficiency and proper workflow, do yourself a favour and visit Khatib instead of Yishun. Otherwise, be prepared for long and unnecessary waiting.

Doctor was telling me information that i am already aware of. She also do not have any solution for the medical condition that i came for. So wasted trip for me and still chargeable. When i approach the self help kiosk, it is still down since my last visit. According to the counter, it is always down.. so what is the IT or technical department doing?

never imagined myself leaving a bad review of a clinic before. the nurse and staff i’ve encountered are alright. no comment. but the doctor ? oh my god. i have sore throat for a week, tried medication and didn’t work therefore i visited polyclinic expecting more experienced solutions. i shared what symptoms i have for the past 1 week and doctor only focused on “ulcer” ??? and i repeat, my issue now is that i have bad sore throat. she didn’t even look at my throat properly and i end up getting neurofen (yes the one i can get at 711), gastric medicine and gel for ulcer. i had fever too, but i quickly took paracetamol before it reaches 38° so i was told my fever considered light fever, not so serious. if after 1 week not recovered then come back again. i’m very confused. how a normal neurofen gonna fix my sore throat? the long wait is not worth for such treatment, should’ve just visited old school family clinic for clear diagnosis and medicine. if it’s not for hospital referral letter in future (if there’s any situation requiring this) i don’t see myself coming back to polyclinic again.

My mom had a scheduled appointment on the 18th Nov 2025 @ 3pm. After completing the registration we were directed to proceed to Level 4 for the consultation. We were then told that my mom has to take her blood pressure / Height & Weight. For the blood pressure reading, she was attended to by an associate whose name i will not include here cause unlike her actions, i do not think it is in the best interest of the clinic & her reputation, to openly shame her on the internet. The only thing i could describe this very brief encounter was that it was a very horrible experience. The associate in question displayed a very bad & condescending behaviour. Despite my mom having gone thru multiple appointments with this polyclinic & knowing the pre consultation processes, she blatantly told my mom, "I don't know whether your arm can fit inside this machine". Essentially body shaming my mother in her very loud, condenscending, auntie voice which embarrased my mother. This is not right. We have been noticing, throughout our time in the waiting area, how she talks down to every patient. There was an instance where a senior citizen, who was in a wheelchair, was brought in by his son for the pre consult check. She once again, in her condescending voice, told the old man to straigten his arms cause "How you want me to take for you if your arm like that ah". Worst of all, she actually read the man's result out loud as if the son was multiple floors away when in fact, he was just next to his father. I am in no ways a lawyer or a healthcare professional but isn't this somewhat a violation of the PDPA or something ? I hope the management often looks thru this reviews for future training and actually acts on maybe retraining or in the worst case scenario to relocate individuals with diffuculties with showing empathy , to non-patient facing positions.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does NHG Yishun Polyclinic charge?

As a public polyclinic, fees at NHG Yishun Polyclinic are subsidised for Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents. A GP consultation typically runs S$10–20 for Singapore Citizens (higher for PRs and non-residents), compared with S$25–60 at a private GP clinic. Investigations such as blood panels, urine tests, and X-rays are billed separately at subsidised rates. Prescription medications dispensed on-site are similarly subsidised. Health screening packages under the Screen for Life programme are available at reduced or no cost for eligible Singapore Citizens meeting age and risk criteria — a fasting blood test may be required. For chronic disease consultations under the CDMP, MediSave can offset costs within the S$500–700 annual withdrawal limit. Walk-in and appointment visit costs differ slightly; confirm current fee tables at the clinic or via the HealthHub portal. See the full GP & 24-Hour Clinics cost guide for Singapore →

Is NHG Yishun Polyclinic MOH-licensed and how do I verify the doctor?

NHG Yishun Polyclinic operates as part of the National Healthcare Group, a MOH-restructured healthcare cluster. As a public institution, its governance falls under the Ministry of Health's regulatory framework for public primary care facilities. No specific licence numbers are listed in the provider data — patients who wish to verify individual doctors should search the Singapore Medical Council (SMC) public register at smc.gov.sg by the consulting doctor's name to confirm registration status and any specialist accreditation. For routine GP and chronic disease management visits, all polyclinic doctors are SMC-registered. If you are referred to a specialist, the referring polyclinic letter will name the receiving doctor and department, and you can verify that specialist's SMC registration and accreditation separately before your SOC appointment.

How do I use MediSave or insurance at NHG Yishun Polyclinic?

At public polyclinics, MediSave is usable for outpatient consultations and treatments under the Chronic Disease Management Programme (CDMP), covering conditions such as hypertension, type 2 diabetes, high cholesterol, asthma, COPD, stroke, and selected mental health conditions. The annual withdrawal limit is S$500 (general outpatient) or S$700 (CDMP). MediSave cannot be used for routine acute GP visits that fall outside CDMP-listed conditions. Integrated Shield Plans (IPs) layered on MediShield Life are designed primarily for inpatient and specialist care, not polyclinic outpatient visits — check your insurer's outpatient rider terms before expecting a claim. If the polyclinic refers you to a public hospital SOC for specialist care, you may then use MediSave and your IP for those subsequent specialist consultations and any planned procedures, subject to the plan's deductible, co-insurance, and pre-authorisation requirements. Request a financial counselling session at the hospital before any planned procedure so you have a written breakdown of insurance payout, MediSave deduction, and out-of-pocket cost.
