Integrated Shield Plan holders should confirm whether the clinic is on their insurer's panel for outpatient claims. For non-emergency specialist concerns, the clinic can issue a referral letter to a public hospital Specialist Outpatient Clinic, which reduces the first-consult fee to approximately S$30–80 for Singapore Citizens after subsidy.

I was disappointed with my consultation experience at this clinic. This was one of the most dismissive and unprofessional doctor ( DR SAM WONG) visits I’ve ever had. The consultation lasted less than a minute — not an exaggeration. I barely had time to sit down before the doctor decided I had “food poisoning” and mentally checked out. Despite explaining that I had repeated vomiting and a fever, there was almost no questioning, no examination, and not even the basic courtesy of listening to my abdomen with a stethoscope. When I mentioned having a fever, the response was simply “no fever now” because I had taken paracetamol earlier — as if that somehow erased the entire illness. No paracetamol was prescribed because it was assumed I already had some at home. I was given one day of MC ( did not even ask how many days i want, just said " ill give you one day of MC for today )which felt less like a medical decision and more like a suggestion that I was exaggerating or lying. The speed of the consultation was impressive only in how little care was shown. The nurses at registration were kind and professional, but unfortunately the doctor’s complete lack of interest made the visit feel like a waste of time and i've just read so many negative reviews about this doctor. Please do something.

It was very unfair. I started queuing outside at around 6:10pm, it will be open again at 6:30pm. I noticed the first guy was sitting inside, and they immediately served him without asking him to queue outside. When I stepped in together with the woman in front of me, I waited after her. Then the Indian woman called the next person from the outside queue. I stood up feeling confused. She then said, “That’s why I said you have to queue outside first.” It was my first time queuing there, and the situation with the other patient made me misunderstand the queuing policy. Overall, the service was fine, but I hope the queuing process can be handled more fairly in the future.

I decided to give a detail review with my recent visit. I was encountered extremely painful at my lower stomach when I woke up the next day. Since I can still able to have a slow walk, I thought not so serious. I went nearby Northeast Medical Group based on my past experience the doctors there still quite good. One of male doctor (name, Sam Wong) attended me. When I explained to him my symptoms, he seems doesn’t very keen to listen my symptoms. Just said he suspected is urine infection. He then ask me to go urine test. After urine test, he said yes, it is urine infection and give me 5 days antibiotics but without painkillers. The next 3 days my lower tummy still extremely painful. I can’t even lay down to sleep as whenever I lay down and wake up, my lower tummy caused extremely sharp pain. Very tortured. He asked me to come back if 5 days later still not recovered. 5 days later I came back, worse! He didn’t even ask me to lay down, just very neglect and touch my lower tummy and said urine infection and asked me to go for 2nd times urine test. Gave me another 5 days antibiotics. I don’t have experienced of urine infection. I also don’t know what is symptoms. However, when I chitchat with my female friend. My female friend said to me that the symptoms don’t look like urine infection and advised me better go for gyne check. I yet to go gyne check. 10 days later, when I was going to sleep, out of sudden, my lower tummy caused extremely painful again. This round painful than 1st round. I can’t even walk which request for emergency admitted hospital. After done the ultrasound scan and CT scan. Doctor said was due to woman issue. I told hospital’s doctor, I visited GP. GP doctor said is urine infection. Hospital doctor shake his head and said nothing to do with urine infection. Wrong diagnosed! Hospital’s doctor said luckily u discovered early. If not, it could be serious issues as need to arrange for surgery to remove the things. My hubby was very angry with this incident. He felt that this doctor no ethic. How can he just anyhow diagnosed me with urine infection. If he not sure he shall refer you to specialist instead! Such a lousy doctor!! After this incident, I blacklist of this clinic. I won’t visit this clinic anymore!

Can the clinic review the process of dispensing meds to reduce waiting time especially when the clinic does not have space for us to wait around to hear our names being called. I waited for 40 mins to receive the meds. Nurse was apologetic but might be better if the process can be improved

I have been visiting Northeast (Sengkang) in the last few years and had received nothing but the best service from Dr Sam Wong and Team. Thus, I am quite puzzled by the low ratings online and would like to provide my personal views to bring some balance to the clinic. Beyond my visit today, Dr Sam had been kind, patient and understanding, never rushing you with his diagnosis and chasing you out of the door so that he can move on the next patient. He also remembers my medical history and family setup to give tips on taking care of them as well. Today, I visited the clinic with a bloody toe and truly thankful that due to the blood loss, I was given priority to see the good doctor first to have my wound attended to. I would also like to give a shout out to the nurses Farah and Fina who were very emphatic and kind towards my needs. Hope that my review can give a more balanced view to their much maligned ratings.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does Northeast Medical Group Sengkang charge?

GP consultation fees at private clinics in Singapore typically run S$25–60, with follow-up visits slightly lower. Common add-ons include investigations (blood panel S$60–200, urine test S$15–40), prescriptions billed separately, and any procedural items such as wound dressing or injections. GST applies on private medical services. For planned investigations or chronic disease management, patients with eligible conditions may use MediSave under the CDMP (S$700/year outpatient limit) or the general outpatient MediSave withdrawal (S$500/year). A written financial counselling estimate is less common at GP level but is standard practice before any day-procedure referral. See the full GP & 24-Hour Clinics cost guide for Singapore →

Is Northeast Medical Group Sengkang MOH-licensed and how do I verify the doctor?

Every legitimate clinic must hold an MOH Healthcare Services Licence issued under the Healthcare Services Act — verifiable on the MOH licensee directory at moh.gov.sg. Every practising doctor must appear on the Singapore Medical Council (SMC) public register at smc.gov.sg, where you can confirm their registration status, any specialist accreditation, and disciplinary history. No licences are currently listed on this KakiList profile, and the clinic is not recorded as ACRA-registered. This does not necessarily mean the clinic is unlicensed, but patients should confirm both the clinic's MOH licence and the named doctor's SMC entry directly before booking. Neither alone is sufficient — both should be verified.

How do I use MediSave or insurance at Northeast Medical Group Sengkang?

Integrated Shield Plans (IPs) layered on MediShield Life generally cover inpatient and day-surgery costs rather than routine GP visits, though some IP riders include outpatient GP panels — check with your insurer whether this clinic is on their panel. MediSave can be used for outpatient chronic disease management under the CDMP (S$700/year for listed conditions including hypertension, diabetes, lipid disorders, asthma, stroke, and selected mental health conditions) and for general outpatient claims (S$500/year limit). For any specialist referral or planned procedure arising from a GP visit, request a written financial counselling estimate that splits insurance payout, MediSave deduction, and out-of-pocket portions before proceeding. Skipping this step is the most common reason patients are surprised by their final bill.
