**Subject: Successful Installation of Fire-Rated Doors by the Renovaid Team** Fire-rated door for our new house! We recently had our first experience with the installation of the main door for our new house. Due to delays caused by the installer’s errors, the installation date has been rescheduled to November 3, 2025, from the initially planned date of October 9, 2025. This date, October 9, 2025, was also a long-overdue date since July when we placed the order with an initial deposit. The installation required two workers as it involved drilling for the lock system. Recently, we successfully installed two bedroom doors and two toilet doors on July 12, 2025, and it was a one-man job. Impressive! We would like to share our experience regarding the installation of our new fire-rated door, the last item on our renovation list for our new house. It was successfully completed on November 3, 2025. The delay was caused by the installer’s mistake in incorrectly reinstalling the old arm bar from the existing door without consulting us (the homeowner). Instead, he should have presented the new arm bar that our door supplier provided in advance. We had ordered a completely new fire-rated door, which included the locking system and arm bar. Our order was placed on July 18, 2025, along with an initial deposit, and we were informed that the new main door would be ready in 3-4 weeks, leading us to believe it would be completed by August 18, 2025. According to Chinese custom, we avoid renovations from August 23, 2025, to September 21, 2025, necessitating the postponement of the installation until after this period. On October 5, 2025, we reached out to Kelvin Tan via text to confirm the installation date. He informed us that the installation could take place on October 9, 2025, highlighting the gap between September 21 and October 5, 2025. October 9, 2025 - Installation was not successful! On October 9, 2025, the installation did not go as planned due to errors made by the installer, who used the old arm bar without informing us. Although the installation was nearly complete at 90%. We raised concerns when the installer suggested we could keep the new set or the arm bar, as the old sets could still be used. Given that he had already drilled five holes in the wooden main door, we disagreed with this approach because he did not consult or inform the owner. We subsequently reported the issue to Kelvin Tan immediately, who assured us that a one-for-one exchange for a new door would be arranged, with a tentative readiness date of October 20, 2025 (about 10 days later). November 3, 2025 - Installation was successful! Finally, our new fire-rated main door was installed on November 3, 2025, with only minor adjustments needed the following day. The installer returned on November 4 to properly align the lock bar of the side door at the bottom part, which had not been aligned correctly initially as we reported to Kelvin Tan. **Conclusion:** The installer should remain vigilant (regardless if he is having personal issues or his team mate) during installations and ask the questions if they have any doubts. Most of the contractors will be okay, and if they are unsure, they will consult the owner before they begin to drill any holes in the walls. This is called being responsible as a worker. Nevertheless, we would like to take this opportunity to thank Kelvin Tan and his workers for finally installing the fire-rated main door 🚪, which is the last item on our renovation list. Thank you Kelvin Tan for your understanding! Thank you, Chris November 12, 2025
The installation process, including measurement and actual installation, typically takes around 4 weeks. Despite a minor setback of almost 2 hours caused by a misaligned door due to HDB wrong alignment in the past , the experienced installer was able to rectify it on the spot. Overall, a high-quality, sturdy door was successfully installed. It’s worth noting that the door is heavy and solid, filled with cores rather than being hollow. Good installer make the company successful.
I have never experienced this level of service recovery. Given the rebuttals to negative reviews , I should have known better. Sales experience started well with my elderly in-laws. 4 x bedroom doors was the order (slightly above $1K). 50% deposit paid. From there, the experience went south. Execution was a letdown. On survey day, in-laws sought to know timeline, and was told 11-21 days (thereabouts). Up till the very last day, there was no reach-out until the very last day of the timeline when I checked in. Came installation date, team arrived late with no notifications. Except for 1-door where measurements were wrong, the rest of the doors were installed. Door must be brought back for alterations and a later date was agreed upon for the installation. Again, no notifications were given for no-show (0900H to 1000H). I had to check in. Responses felt like it was out of template. I gave 15 mins and sought a status. Standard reply to say that one in the team will be in touch with me. Nothing came, and so, I asked for the Manager to call me. Now, here’s where it went terribly south. I will not ever recommend this company as I do not ever wish for my experience upon anyone. Manager Kelvin contacted me at 1110H. Started off with apologies. He explained that the installation was not planned, and added that his installer is on medical leave that day. Knowing that my in-laws have been disappointed a few times in the execution, and the inconveniences that they have to go through to change their schedules, I told him that neither an apology nor a medical leave proof (I did not asked for it) was needed but he should at least speak to his boss to make good (of the several lapses) by way of a small discount for my in-laws. For the first time in my life, I was reprimanded by a service provider. He says that “we are all Singaporeans. It is very disgraceful that every time something happens, it’s about compensation”. I told him that I do not wish to carry on the conversation and just tell me when the next installation date will be. He then went onto say that “I made the mistake. I have apologised. Don’t you make mistakes? Are you a Saint?” First time, I have ever been asked that question. I ended the call.
We had a very unpleasant experience with this door supplier. At first, we were a bit hesitant to deal with this supplier because of the 50% deposit that was expected from us even without knowing the material of the door or the best fit for our house, but after they confirmed that they would bring physical samples and 'advise' us on 'suitable options' and 'help (us) with the color and design selection ON THE SPOT', we went ahead and arranged for an appointment to do side measurements of our doors. Logically, we expected to be able to discuss the best choice for the house based on the team's expertise. Unfortunately, the man that was sent down for the appointment was EXTREMELY unwilling to give any advice to help in our selection of the door, which was clearly agreed upon in our exchange twice, and which was a key factor in why we agreed to the appointment in the first place. Not a single word of suggestion. He expected us to have a decision ready without his help, which contradicts everything we shared in the text exchange, and obviously left us very disappointed. In the end, he was unable to provide the service that was agreed upon in the message, and we felt that the experience was a waste of time. To potential customers, please consider the 1 star reviews before approaching this business.
Appointment for measurement was made within a day of enquiry. Measurement made accurately and installation was done within the week. The installation man was on time and very efficient in installing 2 toilet doors within an hour. He was friendly and patiently answered and explained whatever questions I had. I am happy to have new toilet doors within a week!
