About Scholarly

About Scholarly

Scholarly is a private tutoring provider operating islandwide from its office at 112 Middle Rd, #04-03, Singapore 188970, and is verified by KakiList. It holds a perfect 5/5 rating across 114 Google reviews — a robust sample that lends meaningful weight to the score. Pricing is indicated at the mid-range ($$) level, though specific per-session or package fees are not published and should be confirmed directly with the provider.

When enquiring, it helps to come prepared with your child's current level, the subject and syllabus involved (MOE, IB, IGCSE, or other), and any specific gaps you would like addressed. Clarify whether you are looking for one-to-one tuition or a small group setting, whether sessions will be conducted at the Middle Road office or online, and whether you prefer a per-session arrangement or a term commitment. Asking about a trial class before signing up for a full package is a reasonable first step and will help you gauge teaching style and level fit before committing.

The most practical next step is to reach out to Scholarly via WhatsApp, phone, or the enquiry form to share your child's level and subject needs, ask about current availability, and arrange a trial class.

If you’re looking for A Level GP tuition, just find Emma at Lockin. every student gets a Google Drive full of resources, model essays, and the best exam techniques. she literally writes model essays for us, like my school teachers won't even do that. 10/10 would recommend to anyone who wants to jump grades quickly!

This centre provides a very structured and transparent learning environment. From the start, the tutors were honest about my child’s academic standing and did not overpromise results. Homework is assigned regularly and reviewed thoroughly, ensuring students remain consistent and accountable. The tutors place strong emphasis on grade progression, exam strategies, and understanding marking schemes, which has helped my child become more exam-aware. The placement test during the trial was especially useful in determining the right class, and the centre even suggested additional lessons to strengthen weaker topics instead of rushing ahead. Beyond academics, the tutors also guide students on study habits, mindset, time management and confidence-building. With small class sizes and energetic tutors, the quality of teaching remains high. Mr Rubin Tan’s leadership is evident in how academically rigorous the centre is.

As a parent, I value accountability and results, and this centre delivers both. Homework is given consistently and meaningfully, not just for the sake of it, which helps my child stay disciplined and engaged outside of class. The tutors actively track academic performance, review test results, and clearly explain what needs to be improved for better grades. The tutors are professional, firm, and well-prepared, and they emphasise academic standards rather than just making lessons entertaining. During the trial session, a proper placement test was conducted, and the recommended class was well explained based on my child’s strengths and weaknesses. What also impressed me was the centre’s focus on mindset, discipline, communication skills and motivation, which are often lacking in traditional tuition centres. Mr Rubin Tan runs the centre with clear direction and high academic expectations. This is a premium, results-driven tuition centre I would confidently recommend.

Lockin's September Crash Course under Tutor Emma for GP was very insightful, and it converted me to a student under her 2026 H1 GP class. Emma is a very experienced GP tutor whose lessons are highly structured by relevant GP topics, making it much easier to understand the broad GP syllabus. Her patient and meticulous guidance has made me much more confident in tackling GP exams. Would highly recommend Lockin's GP classes to anyone looking to improve their GP command!

I was recommended Emma at Lockin when I was struggling with JC GP (barely achieveing Es) by my friends, and she has helped me improve tremendously since then. Her lessons are highly effective, and through them, I am now more confident in approaching and structuring GP essays! I recently achieved my first A in GP, and I am immensely grateful to Emma for all her guidance. Lockin is also very conveniently located in Bugis, and the conducive classrooms really make learning more enjoyable!

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does Scholarly charge per session?

Scholarly lists its pricing at the mid-range ($$) level, but specific per-session rates, monthly packages, and term fees are not publicly displayed and will need to be confirmed directly with the provider. When enquiring, ask whether a trial class is available and whether it is charged at the full rate or a reduced introductory fee. Also check whether materials or workbooks carry a separate charge, and whether sibling or multi-subject discounts apply. For context, private tutor rates in Singapore vary widely by level and subject — primary school tuition typically runs S$40–80 per hour for a qualified tutor, while secondary and JC rates can reach S$80–200 or more per hour for experienced tutors with strong track records. Can I try a class before committing?

It is worth asking Scholarly directly whether a trial class is available before signing up for a full term or package. A trial session allows you to assess how the tutor explains concepts, whether the pace and level are appropriate for your child, and whether the teaching style suits your child's learning preferences. During or after the trial, pay attention to how the tutor identifies knowledge gaps, whether the session feels structured or reactive, and how your child responds. If a term or package commitment is required upfront, clarify the refund or pause policy before agreeing, so you have recourse if the fit turns out to be unsuitable after a few sessions.

What are the tutor's credentials?

Scholarly's specific tutor qualifications — such as NIE or MOE teaching background, degree discipline, or years of classroom and tutoring experience — are not listed in the publicly available information. It is recommended that you ask directly about the credentials of the tutor who will be assigned to your child, particularly their familiarity with the relevant syllabus (MOE, IB, IGCSE, or AP). Useful questions include whether the tutor has prior school teaching experience, how long they have been tutoring the specific subject and level, and whether they are familiar with the current MOE curriculum and exam formats. Reviewing past students' results, where the provider is willing to share them, can also help you gauge track record. Take the trial class and confirm the tutor's actual credentials before committing to a term.
