Adopted my little panther from the SPCA a few months ago - special thanks to Tamil and all the adoption staff for making this possible! It really shows through that the crew at the SPCA want only the best for all the animals here. There is also an on-site vet clinic on the premises, which provides veterinary care and screening to the animals here. It also supports vet care for other smaller shelters. Adoption viewing is by appointment only. If you would like to meet a particular animal or have any queries, you can schedule an appointment a day in advance, and the staff will help guide you through what preparations to make before bringing home the animal.

Worst experience! Booked for volunteer in a good heart to help and only got told not allowed to enter when I travelled over 1hr to reach there. And the staff there were so “helpful” saying just wait till have enough volunteer signed up so that they can give a group orientation. Then why there’s no communication in advance? Poor communication and completely waste of my time.

I volunteered with the genuine intention of contributing positively and doing my best to help. Unfortunately, my experience was disappointing due to the way I was treated by two staff members. This occurred in July of last year while I was volunteering. One staff member appeared easily frustrated and gave the impression that volunteers were expected to work independently without seeking clarification. As someone who wants to ensure tasks are done correctly, I found this discouraging. The second incident was more upsetting. While I was assisting in cleaning an area, simply trying to help,I was spoken to rudely. When I explained that the instructions she gave differed from what another staff member had told me earlier, she responded by stating that “I am in charge here, so……you listen” and gestured by pointing her finger down at the floor in a dismissive manner. The tone and body language felt unnecessarily harsh and disrespectful. Additionally, there were some cats that were aggressive that I genuinely struggled to manage. Having been trained during orientation that the organization is very concerned about safety and injury prevention, I attempted multiple times to handle the situation on my own but ultimately sought her assistance. When I calmly explained what had happened, she corrected me on the cat’s gender, which was unrelated to the safety issue I was raising. This response felt dismissive and minimized the challenge I was facing. At the time, I left feeling frustrated and saddened, as I was volunteering out of goodwill and hoping to contribute meaningfully. Experiencing this kind of treatment made me feel undervalued and unwelcome. It is disheartening when efforts to help are met with hostility rather than guidance and support, and I hope that highlighting these situations can help improve the volunteer experience for others in the future.

Recently, Ms. Aqilah provided invaluable assistance in arranging and coordinating castration for two male stray cats (Jerry and Toby) and an ovario-hysterectomy for one female stray cat (Lily). She handled everything with the utmost professionalism, compassion, and efficiency, ensuring that the procedures were carried out smoothly and safely. Their kindness, patience, and genuine concern for the well-being of these strays reflect the highest standards of care that SPCA stands for.
