For families considering enrolling, the first step is to enquire about level and syllabus fit — whether the programme is appropriate for your child's age, current ability, and goals. It is worth asking whether classes are run in small groups or on a one-to-one basis, as this affects both the pace of learning and the fee structure. Prospective students or parents should also clarify term commitment expectations, whether make-up classes are offered for absences, and whether sessions are conducted at the Waterloo Street location or at other islandwide venues.
To get started, reach out to Taichokun Singapore via WhatsApp, phone, or the enquiry form to ask about current class availability, session structure, and fees. Confirm whether a trial class is available before committing to a term, and request details on the tutor or coach credentials relevant to your child's programme.
Take the trial class and confirm the tutor's actual credentials before committing to a term.
Sifu Tan is a fantastic Taiji Coach with a weatlh of knowledge and patience. I had the pleasure to spend three days training for 8 hours with her this summer when I had a few days free on a business trip. I was able to learn the entire Yang 40 form in just a few days. I can't wait to return and continue to improve my technique and abilities, as I was amazed at how quickly I was able to learn under her tutelage.
I was passing through Singapore and wanted to take lessons. I found May through Google and was able to connect via Whatsapp. We were able to lock down a date and time and I really enjoyed my session. I really wanted to learn how to use the fan prop and May was able to accommodate. I do have minimal prior experience with wushu but not Taiji and May was very patient at assessing my level and helping me figure out the best way to learn the choreography. If you're staying in the downtown area this was very convenient to get to and easy to coordinate. The session was so much fun! Definitely don't forget to bring water!
Master May Tan’s passion about Taiji is evident in the way she talks about it to her students. Despite having taught the art for decades, she is still fascinated by its benefits, and wants all her students to experience them. She is patient and persistent, and her style is just beautiful to watch!
Xinying Wushu Training Centre has been an exceptional experience for my daughter. The training sessions are rigorous, often exceeding the scheduled 1.5 hours, but the results speak for themselves. The coaches, who are experienced and often serve as judges at national Wushu championships, push students to their limits in a supportive environment. Led by the founder and principal, Mdm Tan, a former national athlete and medalist at the Wushu Asian Games, the focus goes beyond basic postures. They emphasize rhythm, fluidity, and sharpness between movements, ensuring a holistic approach to training. What sets Xinying apart is their ability to pinpoint and correct problematic postures, movements, or styles. Thanks to their expertise, my daughter's performance improved significantly, as evidenced by her score jumping from 7.6 to 8.1, from the 2023 National Wushu Championships (Nov) to the National School Games in 2024, within just two months of training. Our only regret is not enrolling earlier. With an additional two months of training, she might have cracked the top 6. Nonetheless, we're immensely grateful for the progress she's made at Xinying Wushu Training Centre.
My daughter was in another wushu school prior to Xinying. She was encouraged by the previous school to compete. She was also taking personal coaching lessons for it. For her first competition she got 8.01. A friend introduced us to Xinying. Since joining Xinying, she has improved tremendously and this is without personal coaching. For her second competition she got 8.44. Coach May is passionate about passing on the art to the next generation. She will always coach them way past the timing. And always encouraged the kids in a positive manner. My daughter now practice daily on her own accord and always looking forward to the training. What a change in attitude!

Taichokun Singapore is priced in the mid-range ($$) for its category, but specific per-session rates, monthly package fees, and term fees are not publicly listed. Pricing for sports and swimming schools in Singapore typically varies depending on class format (group vs one-to-one), session duration, the age group, and the venue. Group sessions generally run lower per head than individual coaching. It is worth asking about materials or equipment fees, sibling discounts, and whether a trial class is available at a reduced or standard rate before you commit to a full package. Confirm whether fees are charged per session, per month, or per term, and clarify the policy for missed classes. See the full Sport & Swimming Schools cost guide for Singapore →
Many sports and swimming schools in Singapore offer a trial class so that parents and students can assess whether the programme is the right fit before signing up for a term. A trial session typically gives you a sense of the coach's teaching style, the pace of the class, and whether the level is appropriate for your child's current ability. When attending a trial, observe how the coach manages the group, whether the student-to-coach ratio allows for individual feedback, and whether your child is engaged throughout. Contact Taichokun Singapore directly via WhatsApp or phone to ask whether a trial class is available, what it costs, and what to bring along.
Taichokun Singapore's listing does not include details on coach qualifications, certifications, or years of teaching experience. For sports and swimming instruction, relevant credentials may include national coaching accreditation, Sport Singapore recognition, swimming-specific certifications (such as those from SwimSafer or ASCTA), or competitive sporting backgrounds. It is advisable to ask directly about the lead coach's qualifications, experience teaching students at your child's age and level, and how they align with any specific syllabus or safety standards. Contact Taichokun Singapore via WhatsApp, phone, or the enquiry form to request this information before committing to a programme.
