It is worth asking about group class sizes versus one-to-one arrangements, the teaching approach, how closely materials are aligned to the current examination format, and what the term commitment looks like. My son has learnt a lot and love the teacher so much, he has earned multiple of math medals including ranked 1 for SEAMO and SEAMO X
I’ve been attending Terry Chew since grade 7. They have great coaches and I like their problem solving methods. Learning Olympiad maths not only improves your maths but also your critical thinking skills and logical reasoning which also helps you especially on economics subjects. My economics teacher always compliments my critical thinking skills. Thanks Terry Chew for great lessons!
Very experienced math olympiad coaches who are patient and willing to work with kids of all levels of ability (not just the gifted kids). Coach Catherine has been doing a great job so far, and I hope she stays... My son loves it that there is no homework/assignments after each class, and as a parent, I love the convenience of online (small group) class. However I would not recommend joining hybrid class option where there is a mix of online+onsite students in the same class, as the onsite kids are typically noisy/attention-seeking and the coach was unable to control them. Such disruptive onsite students were also not booted out of the class, and every few minutes the coach would yell at them, turning the class into a circus! If an online student was disruptive, he can he muted on zoom, therefore it was unfair that disruptive onsite students were not punished and continued to be a nuisance every week! If there wasn't the option of non-hybrid/ fully online class, I would not have continued.
My kid has wonderful time studying at Terry Chew Academy. The lessons are engaging and brilliant. Math has never been so much fun before and Piyo is never tired of learning new knowledge while enjoying herself with Terry Chew Academy lessons!
Before: I used to score 85 marks in Primary 4 and my grades dropped to 50 marks in Primary 5. I felt that math was difficult and I did not feel like practising. During: While attending the Math Mastery course, I was taught concepts from topics like excess & shortage, area & perimeter and more. Some strategies to solve problems quickly and effectively were also taught. I found the lessons challenging but easy to understand. After: By the end of the course, I feel much more confident in mathematics and started to love the subject. I am now striving to build up my critical thinking skills and score an A* in the school Exam!

Terry Chew Academy has not published a per-session rate publicly, so the exact fee will depend on the programme, level, and class format — whether group or one-to-one. Tuition centres in Singapore typically charge S$30–80 per session for group classes and S$80–200 or more for individual sessions, depending on the subject and the tutor's credentials. It is worth asking whether fees are structured per session, per month, or per term, and whether a materials fee or registration charge applies separately. Some centres offer sibling or package discounts for term-long enrolments. Confirm all costs in writing before committing to a block booking. A trial class is the most practical way to assess whether Terry Chew Academy is the right fit for your child. During a trial session, pay attention to how the tutor explains concepts, whether the pace matches your child's current level, and how engaged your child is by the end of the lesson. Some centres charge a nominal fee for trial classes; others offer the first session complimentary — confirm this when you enquire. After the trial, it is useful to ask your child directly what they found clear or confusing. If the level feels too advanced or too straightforward, ask whether there is a more suitable class stream before signing up for a full term.
Terry Chew Academy's listing does not specify individual tutor qualifications, so it is advisable to ask directly about the lead tutor's background — in particular whether they have NIE or MOE teaching experience, their academic qualifications, and how many years they have been teaching the relevant examination syllabus. For test preparation subjects, close familiarity with the current examination format and marking rubric is at least as important as subject knowledge. When you enquire, ask how often curriculum materials are updated to reflect changes in the SEAB or relevant examination board's syllabus. If the centre has published examination results or progression data for past students, that is worth requesting as well.
