Take the trial class and confirm the tutor's actual credentials before committing to a term.
I have known Tan Yi and been personally coached by him since 1997. Over the years, he has shown to be an excellent coach both on and off the mats. More than just coaching in the fundamental judo techniques, he also taught me (and my classmates back then) to be honest and upright whenever we are competing. I came back to doing Judo 3 years ago after "retiring" for many years and the nurturing environment is still the same. More than just a judo coach, Tan Yi is someone i consider my life coach as well. Highly recommended
Coach Tanyi has been great coach for myself and family. The learning environment at The Dojo is friendly with an emphasis on individual student learning, regardless of age and experience. My experience with the Dojo's coaches has been very positive, and my family always looks forward to a great training session when we visit. If you are looking for a professional, structured learning environment with good vibes, do consider The Dojo 100%.
I recommend this school to anyone who wants to send their child for self defence training. I’ve seen my child grow into a more confident person under the guidance of the coaches, Sensei Pauli and Sensei Hammie, both of whom strike the perfect balance of strictness and “fun” when conducting the classes. My child has made good friends training at the Dojo
This is the place that has expanded my world view and shaped me to be a better person, both physically and mentally. In the Dojo coaches instill discipline and push us to go further, and through judo we learn respect and gain confidence in ourselves. In my time training I have seen the coaches truly make an effort to nurture the talent within every student making sure that each and everyone of them can reach their fullest potential both in judo and as a person. I fully believe that with the coaches and community here I have been able grow with each and every session, growing myself and developing my skills. Martial arts is a life long journey and the community that's established is here is undoubtedly the best in Singapore.
As a parent, I have been happy with getting my child to be trained in juso. He is happy with the lessons and the sensei are helpful ans strict. Highly recommend this to anyone who want to send their children for seld defence training

Many sport and swimming schools in Singapore offer a trial class — either at a reduced fee or as part of the first session — before you sign up for a full term. This is worth asking The Dojo Singapore about explicitly when you send your enquiry. A trial session is a good opportunity to assess whether the teaching style suits your child, whether the class level is appropriate for their current ability, and whether your child is engaged and comfortable in the environment. Observe how the instructor manages the group, how much individual attention each student receives, and whether the pace feels right. If a formal trial is not offered, ask whether you can observe a session before enrolling.
Instructor credentials have not been listed in the available provider data. For sport and swimming schools, relevant qualifications typically include nationally or internationally recognised coaching certifications specific to the sport (for example, SwimSafer certification for swimming instructors, or sport-specific coaching licences from the relevant national sports association). Years of teaching experience and alignment with any structured progression or grading syllabus are also worth asking about. When you contact The Dojo Singapore, it is reasonable to ask about the qualifications and experience of the instructor who will be teaching your child's class, and whether the programme follows a recognised syllabus or grading framework. This information is not publicly available and should be confirmed directly.
