About The Learners Council

About "The Learners Council"

The Learners Council is a tuition centre based at Guthrie House on Fifth Avenue, with coverage islandwide across Singapore. It holds a verified listing on KakiList, is registered with ACRA, and carries a Google rating of 4.8 out of 5 from 21 reviews — a moderate sample size that offers a useful directional signal. Pricing sits at the mid-range tier ($$).

Families typically begin by enquiring about subject and level fit — whether the centre caters to the relevant primary, secondary, or junior college syllabus — and whether small-group or one-to-one sessions are available. It is worth asking about a trial class before committing to a full term, so that both the student and parent can assess teaching style, class pace, and whether the level of instruction matches the learner's needs. Do clarify upfront whether sessions run online, at the Fifth Avenue centre, or at additional locations islandwide, and what the term commitment and make-up class policy look like.

To take the next step, reach out to The Learners Council directly via phone or the enquiry form on their listing to ask about current availability, confirm the subjects and levels offered, and arrange a trial class.

Ms Hong is infectiously passionate about her work. She not only teaches Physics, but inspires a 'you can do it' mindset. My daughter gains not only academic knowledge and problem solving skills, but much more importantly confidence about the subject and herself. I would recommend The Learners Council wholeheartedly.

My son, Justin, has made significant improvement in Physics after joining The Learners Council at the end of Year 3. His teacher helped him close his gaps, thereby strengthening his foundation. Importantly, he has gained more confidence in the subject, leading to better scores in Year 4. We are happy with the progress made and will continue at TLC for his JC years.

I was recommended to Ms Hong's centre by a very good friend. Because of my son's training schedule, he was not able to join a regular Physics class in his fourth year in secondary school. Three weeks before his exams, we realised he needed help. He had very little physics knowledge. I got in touch with Ms Hong and she quickly set him up for a few intensive physics lessons. Mdm Chia and Ms Hong are amazing tutors. Under their tutorship and his practices, he managed to score over 80% in his end of year exams, and with one of the highest marks in class. This would not have been possible without Ms Hong! Thanks, Ms Hong! U're amazing!

Ms Hong is not only a responsible and dedicated educator, she teaches with a heart. Her spirit of excellence is evident in the way she plans and carries out her lessons. She has value-added to her students through her clear explanations, worked examples, drive and passion. If you are a student who is struggling in Physics, do give Ms Hong's class a shot and give yourself and Physics another chance. You never know, with some time and hard work together with Ms Hong, you may find yourself increasing in confidence and competence in this subject!

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does "The Learners Council" charge per session?

The Learners Council is listed at a mid-range price tier ($$), though a specific per-session or monthly rate has not been published. Tuition centre fees in Singapore typically vary by format: group classes generally run from S$30–S$80 per session, while one-to-one tuition can range from S$60 to S$150 or more per session depending on the subject and level. Some centres charge a materials fee or require payment by term rather than per session, so it is worth asking whether a sibling discount or package rate applies. A trial class may be available at a reduced or standard session fee — confirm this when you enquire. See the full Tuition Centres cost guide for Singapore →

Can I try a class before committing?

Many tuition centres in Singapore offer a trial class before a student commits to a full term or monthly package. A trial gives you the opportunity to assess whether the teaching style suits your child, whether the class level is appropriately pitched, and whether the student feels engaged and comfortable in the environment. When attending a trial, observe how the tutor manages the pace of the session, how questions are handled, and whether the materials align with the school syllabus your child is following — whether MOE, IB, IGCSE, or another curriculum. Contact The Learners Council directly to confirm whether a trial class is available and what the fee arrangement is.

What are the tutors' credentials at "The Learners Council"?

Tutor qualifications at The Learners Council have not been listed publicly. When evaluating a tuition centre, it is reasonable to ask whether tutors hold a degree in the relevant subject, whether any have NIE training or prior MOE school teaching experience, and how many years they have been teaching the specific syllabus your child requires. Also confirm whether the same tutor is assigned consistently, as continuity can affect learning outcomes. If your child is preparing for PSLE, O-Levels, A-Levels, or an international curriculum such as IB or IGCSE, ask specifically whether the tutor has a track record with that examination format. Raise these questions directly with The Learners Council before committing to a term. Take the trial class and confirm the tutor's actual credentials before committing to a term.
