Families considering The Science Academy should begin by enquiring about level and syllabus fit — whether the tutor covers MOE, IGCSE, IB, or other curricula, and whether sessions are conducted one-to-one or in small groups. It is worth asking about trial class availability before committing to a term, as this gives both student and tutor a chance to gauge rapport and gauge whether the teaching pace suits the learner. Clarify whether lessons are held at the Toa Payoh centre, at the student's home, or online, and confirm the term commitment and any materials fees upfront.
To take the next step, reach out to The Science Academy via WhatsApp, phone, or the enquiry form to ask about current subject availability, group sizes, and scheduling options at the Lor 4 Toa Payoh location before booking a trial class.
Take the trial class and confirm the tutor's actual credentials before committing to a term.
Mr Yu is an excellent Chemistry tutor who makes learning both enjoyable and effective. His lessons are engaging and go beyond regular tuition, as he takes time to help us with school questions we struggled with. He explains concepts in a way that is easy to understand and ensures we truly grasp the underlying ideas. His encouragement and guidance have really strengthened my foundation in Chemistry and boosted my performance in class. Mr Teng’s Physics lessons are always engaging and insightful. He goes beyond standard tuition by not only teaching the syllabus thoroughly but also helping us tackle questions we didn’t understand in school. His explanations are clear and detailed, making even the toughest topics easier to grasp. Thanks to his patience and dedication, I’ve gained more confidence in Physics and developed a stronger interest in the subject.
I have been with TSA for 2 years and Mr Teo is a dedicated teacher who explains concepts to students well. Lessons are interesting as he shares his experiences and he provides feedback, both academic and non-academic, to help us with our future as we grow older. I am now more confident when doing Physics questions, highly recommended.
Mr Yu has helped me have a deeper understanding of various chemistry and biology concepts. his enthusiasm and jokes keeps classes engaging and interesting, helping me to stay focused. Even though i haven’t been with the centre for long, i have really enjoyed the lessons that i’ve had here and i can see some progress in my sciences!
mr yu has helped me understand chemistry using countless effective strategies and mnemonics that make learning a lot more enjoyable. he readily cracks jokes during lessons which makes the learning process fun and I went from hating and knowing nothing about chemistry to loving every chapter of it. I joined in 2025 as a secondary 4 student and ever since then, my grades went from E8 to B4. I'm grateful for mr yu and tsa for serving as a safe space for me to learn as well as have fun!
I have been in Mr Teng's physics class since Sec 2, and i would just like to commend his multitalented adaptability, humour, as well as his absolutely boundless patience in his willingness to explain concepts and questions however many times we may need, and even going above and beyond to link certain points of confusion to other common misconceptions that we need to take note of. On my favourite chicken rearer -- Runxing's -- life, I feel tremendously enlightened with every lesson. Some mornings I walk into the centre feeling like one of three smelly cobblers, and yet I'd leave feeling like the ancient chinese strategist Zhugeliang with the sheer amount of physics knowledge that Mr Teng has siphoned into my cranium. Moreover, with simple, logical explanations and analogies, i find abstract concepts such as electricity easy to understand and memorise. For example, I was tearing my hair out, using the long way to determine the force exerted by two wires on each other as their currents travelled into the paper, when just then, the angellic voice of Mr Teng rang out in the classroom that 'gay wires attract' and I had a revelation on the joys of electricity in that very moment. All in all, I'm very satisfied with my experience in TSA with Mr Teng as my teacher, and highly reccomend his lessons to straggling souls in need, and those of superior knowledge sinultaneously.

Many tuition providers in Singapore offer a trial class so that students and parents can assess fit before signing up for a full term. During a trial, pay attention to whether the teaching pace matches the student's current level, whether the tutor's explanation style clicks, and whether the student leaves feeling engaged rather than overwhelmed. It is also a good opportunity to observe class size if it is a group session, and to ask how the tutor tracks progress and communicates with parents. Contact The Science Academy directly via WhatsApp or phone to confirm their trial class policy, associated cost, and available slots.
Credential details for the tutors at The Science Academy are not listed publicly on this listing. When enquiring, ask whether tutors hold a degree in the relevant subject, whether any hold a Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) from NIE or equivalent MOE teaching experience, and how many years they have been teaching at the relevant level. Also confirm which syllabi the tutors are familiar with — MOE PSLE, O-Level, A-Level, IGCSE, IB, or others — as alignment with your child's school curriculum matters significantly. Raising these questions directly with The Science Academy before the trial class is recommended.
