Revisited my student life memories with Gylie Hsai (Tiffany) today at Ms Ho’s Byron Tutorial Centre.. finally we have a chance to reunite after some 23/24 years… and yes! She’s still operating at the very same place! Ms Ho Soo Ping is the rarest old-school type of dedicated teacher that you can hardly find in SG these days. She is more like a motherly figure than a teacher/tutor.. every picture every thank-you card on her wall of achievement tells a unique hardship story which she had miraculously transformed into a source of strength & inspiration for her next-gen students.. She is not the kind of teacher who is merely results focused, but also genuinely cares deeply abt her students’ mental health and holistic developments. This is something that is critically lacking in the mainstream education system. I’m sure most of her troubled students (like me) didn’t even realised how blessed they had been to have crossed path with a godsend teacher like her until many years later.. The world doesn’t need that many bottom-line driven corporations but definitely needs more passionate-compassionate wise women like Ms Ho..!! ❤️❤️❤️
Throughout my years at Byron Ms Ho has always showed empathy and understanding for the problems I encountered with GP for example, lacking content to write for essays. With Ms Ho’s fun way of mnemonics to memorise things it was easier for me to generate points to write essays and essay writing became less challenging for me. Most importantly, other than her fantastic teaching skills Ms Ho shows a lot of passion and dedication in her work of teaching GP to us which makes me more interested to learn more about GP without getting bored of it. When Ms Ho is teaching, time passes extremely fast and 4 hours can easily go by in a blink. Thank you so much for helping me improve Ms Ho!
As a private candidate, I was skeptical of joining GP tuition as I wondered how effective and helpful it would be. However, I caved when I realised I needed more help than I could provide myself. Ms Ho reassured me that she would take me under her wing and help guide me with the best of her ability and she stayed true to her words. For context, I got an E for my first A Levels which meant I was a very weak student, with a weak foundation which made it easy to slip through the cracks. Ms Ho would patiently break down the techniques on how to write essays and tackle comprehension questions, provide us with a vocabulary treasure trove to help strengthen our language and keep us in the loop with the most recent news. Not to mention that Ms Ho is very knowledgeable with current affairs and would always share with us what was happening around the world. One key thing that made me improve so much was attempting essay questions and letting Ms Ho mark them. She would provide comments on how to improve and was patient in explaining what went wrong and my doubts. Slowly but surely, I could see improvements in my essays. I attended all the lessons over Zoom, which to many may seem like a waste of time since it makes us easily distracted, but Ms Ho would always ask questions to make sure we are still on track. Outside of class, Ms Ho would always ask us how we are doing, tell us a little about her life and share some wisdom. All in all, Ms Ho is hands down one of the sweetest, kind, loving caring teacher I’ve ever came across. I am so lucky and will forever be grateful that I was taught by her. I couldn’t have achieved the results I did the second time if it was not for Ms Ho’s guidance. So, if you are considering to join a GP tuition, Ms Ho is the best one out there. It is never too late. Also, take this as a sign to take GP seriously, it is important if you want to get into university courses like healthcare with rather strict requirements for GP.
Throughout my 5 years at Byron, Ms Ho has always encouraged and inspired me to be the best version of myself. Her lessons are fruitful and engaging, changing my perspective towards studying for both English and GP. Her notes are clear and concise, with an insightful depth of analysis breaking down arduous tasks such as essay writing, into an achievable goal. Ms Ho’s lessons never fail to brighten day after the long hours spent in school. She loves to incorporate funny stories from her personal experiences and life values into the lessons, indubitably bringing a smile to my face. Ms Ho always leaves her door open to all her students, allowing us to confide with her when faced with our own personal life dilemmas. Her kind, caring and cheerful personality makes it easy to open up to and seek her advice. Ms Ho has surged my proficiency in taking language examinations, allowing me to attain an A in O Level English and in A level GP. Furthermore, Ms Ho has imparted values and character in me, nurturing me to become a gracious member of society. I have recommended Ms Ho’s tutoring to friends who also share an overwhelming positive experience under Ms Ho’s guidance, and I will definitely recommend even more people to Ms Ho’s lessons at Byron.
I was a jc student who joined Ms Ho’s GP lessons in the middle of year one. As someone who was not as strong in the language, I was fortunate to come across this tuition class through a recommendation from my mother’s friend’s daughter, who was also taught by Ms Ho. I am truly grateful for how Ms Ho treated all her students fairly, ensuring that everyone learned as much as possible from her lessons. She was super understanding and always friendly! I also greatly appreciated the useful notes she provided, which included a vast number of examples and strong vocabulary. Overall, I really enjoyed and benefited greatly from her fun and enriching classes.

Tutor MLR GP has not publicly listed specific per-session rates, so you will need to contact them directly to confirm current pricing. As a general reference, tuition centres in Singapore typically charge between S$30 and S$80 per session for group classes, and S$60 to S$150 or more per session for one-to-one tuition, depending on the academic level and subject. It is also worth asking whether fees are structured as a per-session rate, a monthly package, or a term-based commitment. Check whether a separate fee applies for a trial class, and whether materials or workbooks are included or billed additionally. Some centres offer sibling discounts or package deals for multiple subjects. See the full Tuition Centres cost guide for Singapore →
Many tuition centres in Singapore offer a trial class, either at a reduced fee or at the standard session rate, before a student commits to a monthly or term enrolment. It is advisable to ask Tutor MLR GP directly whether a trial class is available for your child's level and subject. During the trial, observe whether the pace and difficulty level suit your child, whether the teaching style holds their attention, and whether the class size allows for adequate individual attention. A good trial session should give you a clear sense of how the curriculum is delivered and whether the tutor's approach aligns with your child's learning needs. If a formal trial is not offered, ask whether you can sit in on part of a session or receive a sample worksheet to assess content level before signing up.
Specific tutor credentials for Tutor MLR GP are not listed in publicly available information. When enquiring, it is worth asking directly about the tutors' educational background, whether they hold a degree in the relevant subject, and whether any have prior MOE teaching experience or NIE training. You should also confirm which syllabus the centre aligns with — for example, MOE PSLE, O-Level, A-Level, IB, or IGCSE — as this affects how well the instruction maps to your child's actual school curriculum. Years of teaching experience and familiarity with current examination formats are also useful indicators of quality. Take the trial class and confirm the tutor's actual credentials before committing to a term.
