It is worth asking about session frequency, package options versus single-session booking, and the cancellation policy before confirming the appointment.

I am thankful for Dr Ken and his staff Jane who helped me with my children's appointments and endless requests. It is not always easy handling a busy clinic but credit to them for doing their best. Kudos..

called the staff to make a booking to collect medicine and i was informed i could go down the next week as they had made an appointment for me when i arrived, i was greeted HORRIBLY by the reception counter staff. she was very rude and impatient. she even said i did not have an appointment. she kept rolling her eyes and was rude even on the phone. not sure how this kind of staff was hired to mend the counter at this clinic when there are patients who might not be able to handle this attitude. i think appointment confirmation sms / email should be sent to the patient in this case if this is how the staff is going to be acting. no professionalism. i’m sure alot of other people could do a way better job of handling patients than this staff. saw many reviews on rude staff at this clinci reception already, not sure why the clinic management is not doing anything i’ve been coming to Dr Ung for years as he is amazing, he is understanding and his prescriptions are great. I feel that a rude reception staff should not take away the good care provided by the doctor.

Being a clinic specializing in psychiatric care and treatment, I am disappointed at the ladies at the reception desk being so unprofessional and utterly rude to patients who have taken the step forward to seek help for their mental health. The only saving grace was the doctors. Really empathetic and caring for the patients. Was there to book an appointment for my spouse, I could her the ladies badmouthing about other patients. That is not all, their facial expressions and composure is just incredibly rude and ignorant. I think they should be sent to some customer service courses to be a better receptionist. I repeat ZERO empathy to customers. Just by interacting with the ladies at the reception I feel like I need to book a consultation with the doctor, making my blood boil.

I had made a call to the clinic to ask on the availability of a supplement. The lady who answered the call was downright rude and brushed me off. Being a clinic to support mental health and those who are already 'broken' and tired, a little empathy and kindness would have been very welcome. Your actions may be the tipping point for the people you meet. Shame on you.

Dr. Ken is a breath of fresh air in the mental health space. 🤍 He’s deeply empathetic, truly listens without judgment, and most importantly—respects your choices when it comes to your care. It’s rare to find a psychiatrist who balances clinical expertise with such genuine human connection. If you’re looking for a place where you feel safe, supported, and in expert hands, this is it.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does Adam Road Medical Centre charge per session?

Adam Road Medical Centre displays a mid-range pricing tier ($$), but specific per-session rates are not publicly listed and should be confirmed directly with the clinic before booking. In Singapore, counselling sessions typically range from S$80–200 per hour at private medical centres, with psychiatrist or clinical psychologist consultations often higher. Ask whether a first-consultation fee applies, whether packages of multiple sessions are available at a reduced rate, and what the no-show or late-cancellation policy is. Some sessions may be claimable under Medisave if delivered by a MOH-registered psychiatrist for specific conditions, or reimbursable under private health insurance — confirm with both the clinic and your insurer. Do I need a referral or assessment first?

Most private counselling and medical centres in Singapore accept direct self-referrals — you do not need a GP letter to book a first appointment. However, calling ahead to describe your presenting concern helps the clinic match you with the most appropriate practitioner (counsellor, psychologist, or psychiatrist) and flag any contraindications or documentation that would be useful to bring. At the first visit, you will typically complete an intake form covering your medical and psychological history. If your concern is complex or has a clinical component — such as mood disorders, trauma, or suspected ADHD — a structured assessment may be recommended before a treatment plan is confirmed. A GP referral can be helpful if you intend to claim through insurance or Medisave, as some insurers require it.

Is the practitioner at Adam Road Medical Centre licensed?

In Singapore, medical doctors (including psychiatrists) are registered with the Singapore Medical Council (SMC), verifiable on the SMC public register. Clinical psychologists practising in public-sector-linked roles may be registered with the Singapore Psychological Society or the AHPC register, though registration is not yet mandatory for all private practitioners. Counsellors may hold accreditation from the Singapore Association for Counselling (SAC). Adam Road Medical Centre does not currently list specific regulatory licences on this directory. Before your first appointment, ask the clinic for the name and professional registration number of the practitioner you will be seeing, and verify it on the relevant board's public register. Confirm the practitioner's licence number on the relevant board's public register before treatment.
