Women seeking support can get in touch via phone or the online enquiry form to arrange a first consultation. At that initial session, a counsellor will typically explore the presenting concern — whether that involves relationship difficulties, workplace harassment, family violence, sexual assault, or mental health challenges — and agree on a suitable approach and frequency. Sessions may be one-off or ongoing depending on the individual's needs, and the service covers clients islandwide rather than being restricted to a single catchment area.

My first responder Ms Mona was very attentive, caring, and professional. These calls can be very hard to make especially when your troubles are still so fresh so the person that answers your call can either throw oil into the fire or actually give you comfort. After my call with Ms Mona, I was more collected because she gave me options and kept me focused on the reality of the situation, and my next steps. I had another call with case manager Ms Farah and she was also lovely, making sure I was aware of what I could do. Therapy has never really been an option for me because I can hardly afford it but the fact that this help from Aware was both free and helpful is amazing. Of course, I understand not everybody will share the same quality of experience but I hope they get all the help they need too!

replied my email within 2days and had conversation with them within a week. but not helpful at all, merely telling me what i could have found online and could sense that she wants to end the call promptly. mentioned that she will follow up with an email after the call which never happen.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does AWARE Women's Helpline & Counselling charge per session?

Pricing information for AWARE Women's Helpline & Counselling has not been provided in this listing. Some non-profit counselling services operate on a sliding-scale or subsidised-fee model, while others charge a standard per-session rate or offer package pricing for ongoing support. It is worth asking directly about any registration or assessment fees, package options, and cancellation or no-show policies when you make first contact. See the full Counselling cost guide for Singapore →

Do I need a referral or assessment first?

Most counselling services accept self-referrals — you do not need a GP letter to make an initial enquiry. At the first session, the counsellor will typically conduct an intake assessment covering your presenting concerns, personal history, and immediate support needs before discussing a suitable approach and frequency. If you have a complex medical condition or are claiming counselling costs through insurance, a GP referral letter can help. In cases involving acute mental health crises, severe trauma, or psychiatric symptoms, the counsellor may recommend parallel support from a psychiatrist or IMH. Confirm the intake format and any documents to bring when you book.

Is the practitioner licensed?

Counsellors and psychotherapists in Singapore are not currently subject to statutory licensing in the same way physiotherapists or TCM practitioners are; however, credentialled practitioners typically hold membership with the Singapore Association for Counselling (SAC) or are registered with the Singapore Register of Psychologists (SRP), both of which require minimum qualifications, supervised practice hours, and adherence to a code of ethics. No licence information has been provided for this listing. Before booking, ask AWARE Women's Helpline & Counselling about the qualifications and professional registrations held by the counsellors who would be assigned to your case. You can verify SRP-registered psychologists on the SRP public register and SAC members on the SAC website.
