About Carpe Diem Preschool

About "Carpe Diem Preschool"

Carpe Diem Preschool is a KakiList-verified, ACRA-registered childcare and playgroup provider located at Blk 131 Lor 1 Toa Payoh, operating with islandwide coverage. It holds a Google rating of 4 out of 5, though this is based on only 3 reviews and should be treated as directional rather than conclusive. Fees are priced at the mid-range tier ($$) on a monthly recurring basis.

Families interested in enrolling are encouraged to enquire about available slots for their intended start month as early as possible, particularly for infant care and playgroup places, which tend to fill quickly. When you contact the centre, ask about the infant-to-caregiver ratio, the structure of the daily routine, and the settling-in process for younger children. It is also worth confirming whether the centre is ECDA-approved, as this affects eligibility for government subsidies available to Singapore citizen and permanent resident families.

To take the next step, reach out to Carpe Diem Preschool directly via phone or their enquiry form to ask about current vacancies, arrange a centre visit, and request a copy of the parent contract before committing to enrolment. My experience with this centre has been quite disappointing overall. While the basics are covered, the teaching quality is average at best, and the level of care and engagement doesn’t quite meet expectations. The biggest issue, however, is communication—both between the admin staff and parents, and between teachers and parents. Important updates are often delayed or unclear, and there's a noticeable lack of coordination. Even within the staff, communication seems disjointed, which directly impacts how smoothly things run day-to-day. On top of that, my childcare subsidy was mishandled, and I was charged the full amount without any assistance or proper explanation. I had to escalate the matter to ECDA myself to get it resolved—something that could have been avoided if the admin team had followed through on their responsibilities from the beginning. This has been a frustrating experience, and I hope the centre takes serious steps to improve communication, accountability, and overall standards moving forward.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does "Carpe Diem Preschool" charge per month?

Carpe Diem Preschool is listed at the mid-range ($$) price tier on a monthly recurring basis. You should contact the centre directly to obtain the exact monthly fee for the specific programme — playgroup rates in Singapore typically differ from full-day childcare rates and vary by age band. In addition to the monthly fee, ask about a one-time registration fee, a refundable deposit (commonly equivalent to one to two months' fees), and any costs for uniforms or personal accident insurance. Childcare fees in Singapore are GST-exempt, so no GST should be applied to your monthly invoice. See the full childcare cost guide for Singapore →

What subsidies can I claim at "Carpe Diem Preschool"?

Singapore citizen children enrolled at ECDA-licensed centres may be eligible for the Basic Subsidy — up to S$600 per month for infant care or up to S$300 per month for childcare — regardless of household income. Working mothers who clock at least 56 hours of work per month may additionally qualify for the Working Mother's Child Care Subsidy. For lower-income households, the Additional Subsidy (income-tested) can bring the combined monthly subsidy to as much as S$710. Permanent resident children may qualify for partial subsidies, though at lower quantum than citizens. Subsidy amounts and eligibility criteria are reviewed periodically, so check directly with ECDA at www.ecda.gov.sg for the most current figures. First confirm with Carpe Diem Preschool whether the centre holds the necessary ECDA licence for subsidies to apply.

Is there a waitlist at "Carpe Diem Preschool"?

Popular childcare and playgroup centres in Singapore often have waiting periods, and it is advisable to enquire three to twelve months ahead of your intended start date. Infant care places in particular fill up quickly, and January is the peak intake month when many new cohorts begin. Even playgroup spots at smaller centres can be limited, so early enquiry is worthwhile. To secure a place, most centres require payment of a registration fee and, in some cases, a deposit. Contact Carpe Diem Preschool directly via phone or their enquiry form to check current availability for your child's age group and preferred start month.
