About Chengzhu Mandarin Centre

Chengzhu Mandarin Centre is a Mandarin-focused playgroup provider operating from its centre at Rochester Drive, with islandwide reach. It holds KakiList verification, meaning operating details and contact information have been confirmed by a real person. The centre carries a Google rating of 4.9 out of 5 across 70 reviews, which represents a moderate sample size and can be treated as a reasonable directional signal. Fees are charged on a monthly recurring basis at the mid-range price point.

For families considering enrolling, the recommended first step is to enquire about available slots for your intended start month, as playgroup places at well-regarded centres can fill quickly. When you contact Chengzhu Mandarin Centre, ask about the daily Mandarin immersion routine, the child-to-caregiver ratio, and the settling-in period so your child can adjust gradually to the new environment. It is also worth confirming whether registration fees, deposits, or any uniform or insurance charges apply on top of the monthly fee. Singapore citizen children enrolled at ECDA-registered centres may be eligible for government subsidies — check ECDA's current guidelines to understand what your family may qualify for based on income and employment status.

To take the next step, reach out to Chengzhu Mandarin Centre directly via phone or their enquiry form to confirm current slot availability, arrange a centre visit, and receive a full fee breakdown before committing.

Both my kids enjoy the lessons at Chengzhu. The teachers are great with children and can keep them engaged throughout the lesson. Special shoutout to Senior Service Consultant Sandra Tan who has been very helpful in assisting me to match courses within Chengzhu and Julia Gabriel to meet our needs.

My son has been attending ChengZhu for about 18 months now. After the first few months of tuition, his Laoshi at his preschool commented on how much his Mandarin had improved! I can definitely say that taking tuition classes has made a difference to his learning, and now that he is in Primary 1, extra Mandarin input makes all the difference as we predominantly speak English at home. At ChengZhu, the teachers are kind, patient, understanding and engaging, and the administration staff have excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. ChengZhu has an all-round friendly atmosphere and parents are invited into the classroom for observation for feedback once or twice a term. My son's ChengZhu Laoshi also provides video updates on his progress, as well as an end-of-term report. I would recommend ChengZhu Rochester Mall to anyone who is looking to give their child a boost in their Mandarin education!

We've been to Rochester Mall for my elder child since he was 2 years old. The teachers are fun and engaging. Ni Laoshi and Shi Laoshi deserves special mention - they took the time to understand my son and could effectively support his learning. The counter staff, specifically Santos, is extremely helpful and detailed in all admin matters, which secured my interest in sending my younger one to PlayNest earlier rather than later. 10/10 would recommend!

Heartfelt thanks to Santos, as well as 任老师、曲老师、孙老师、朱老师 and 刘老师 for your patience, dedication and passion. We’re so glad we enrolled Axel in ChengZhu PlayClub — he went from resisting the language to coming home excitedly sharing all that he learnt each week. We are deeply appreciative of the positive impact you’ve made.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does Chengzhu Mandarin Centre charge per month?

Chengzhu Mandarin Centre charges fees on a monthly recurring basis, positioned at the mid-range price point for Singapore playgroups. Beyond the monthly tuition fee, families should ask about a one-off registration fee, a refundable deposit (commonly equivalent to one to two months' fees), and any additional charges for uniforms or group insurance. Childcare and playgroup fees in Singapore are GST-exempt, so the quoted monthly figure should represent your actual outlay on tuition. Always request a written fee schedule before signing any enrolment agreement. See the full childcare cost guide for Singapore →

What subsidies can I claim at Chengzhu Mandarin Centre?

Government subsidies for childcare and playgroup in Singapore are available to Singapore citizen children enrolled at ECDA-licensed centres. The Basic Subsidy provides up to S$300 per month for childcare (and up to S$600 for infant care). The Working Mother's Child Care Subsidy offers additional support for mothers working at least 56 hours per month. An Additional Subsidy, income-tested and combined with the Working Mother's Subsidy, can bring total support up to S$710 per month for lower-income families. Permanent resident children may be eligible for partial subsidies at reduced quantum. Subsidy rates and eligibility criteria are reviewed periodically, so confirm the latest figures directly with ECDA at their official website before making enrolment decisions. Contact Chengzhu Mandarin Centre to clarify whether they are ECDA-licensed, as subsidy eligibility depends on the centre holding that accreditation.

Is there a waitlist at Chengzhu Mandarin Centre?

Popular playgroup and childcare centres in Singapore often fill their cohorts several months in advance, particularly for January intake, which is the main start-of-year enrolment period. It is generally advisable to enquire at least three to six months ahead of your intended start date, and earlier if possible for in-demand programmes. To secure a place, centres typically require payment of a registration fee and a deposit, so be prepared to confirm your interest promptly once a slot is offered. Contact Chengzhu Mandarin Centre directly by phone or via their enquiry form to check current availability for your child's age group and preferred start month.
