About Great Employment Agency

About Great Employment Agency

Great Employment Agency is a domestic helper placement agency operating islandwide from its office at 170 Upper Bukit Timah Road. It is verified by KakiList, meaning operating details and contact channels have been confirmed. Its Google rating stands at 3.4 out of 5 across 96 reviews — a moderate sample size, though the below-average rating warrants careful reading of recent reviews before engaging. No regulatory licences are currently listed on this profile, and ACRA registration has not been confirmed.

Households looking to place a full-time foreign domestic worker (FDW) should confirm the agency's MOM Employment Agency (EA) Licence number before paying any fee — this is verifiable on MOM's online EA directory. The placement process typically covers source-country selection (Indonesia, Philippines, Myanmar, or Sri Lanka), helper shortlisting and interview, MOM Work Permit application, the mandatory Settling-In Programme, and a medical examination. Ask clearly whether FDW insurance, the Settling-In Programme fee, and medical exam costs are bundled into the quoted placement fee or billed separately. For a new-hire helper, placement fees typically run S$1,500–3,500; transfer helpers are generally less. Monthly costs thereafter include the helper's salary (S$550–800 depending on nationality and experience) and the MOM levy (S$300 standard, or S$60 concessionary for eligible households).

Contact Great Employment Agency by phone to request their MOM EA Licence number, current helper profiles, and a written breakdown of all fees before committing to any payment.

Blessing that I have not make any payment to this agency! Warming-Make sure you read your term and conditions clearly before engaging them. Very unethical practice to make you get the insurance from them, stating it is compulsory whereby it wasn’t stated in the first enquiry form. Insisted I have to purchase my helper insurance from them even first appeal was rejected! When questioned why was not informed prior to the engagement of their service, she mentioned it was on the form (which has not even mentioned on the form that is compulsory). She got impatient and said then don’t submit the application for me and hang up the phone. I mentioned to her that I will report this to MOM. Then she said ‘she will ask her boss again” within 10 mins, she said her boss approved and threaten me to make sure I don’t ‘cock up’ ( her language) my insurance. Do you think I will trust this agent again? Of course not! Pm me for the agent name.

We engaged this agency twice for Myanmar maids, and both times the experience was unsatisfactory. The agency seemed to have poor quality control and did not properly verify the maids’ seriousness or capabilities. Key issues: • Inaccurate or withheld information – reported weight and language ability were not true. • First maid (7 years’ claimed experience) worked for only 3 months, was lazy and constantly on her phone. • Second maid was much lighter and weaker than stated, and wanted to return home shortly after arrival despite us waiting a month and paying a large sum. • The “free replacement” offer did not materialise, as they couldn’t provide a different nationality. • Refunds for the maid’s salary and agent fees were delayed over a month, and $420 was deducted for food and lodging despite an earlier verbal agreement to waive it. In total, we paid around $6,000 and only got about 5 months of unsatisfactory help over 7 months. We eventually had to go to another agency to find a reliable helper. Would not recommend Great Employment Agency (both branches) based on this experience.

I had a very unpleasant experience with Great Employment (Katong). After waiting three months for my helper to arrive (as the agency failed to book her ticket until the last minute), she finally joined us. However, just over a month later, the agency suddenly demanded that we return her immediately — which was an unreasonable and unheard-of request. We complied to avoid unnecessary issues and trusted the agency to find her a new employer. Unfortunately, there were no updates unless I actively followed up, and the agency failed to extend her handover period or secure her next placement. Eventually, the helper chose to return to her home country, and to our shock, the agency still charged us all charges (including lodging and airfare), despite her being with the agency for more than a month. What upset us most is that the whole process was handled with rigidity and little goodwill. We are deeply disappointed, as all responsibilities seemed to fall solely on the employer, while the agency only cited contractual clauses without offering any fair resolution. Would give 0 star if possible.

This is the worse agency I've ever dealt with and don't ever deal with Joanne Tee because she is perpetually on leave or on mc and she will have zero interest in helping neither the employer nor the helper so she won't care whether it will work out for the employer or the helper. Whenever the helper doesn’t work out, she will suggest to change helper (at the employer’s expense) without even talking to them and try to find a solution. Her main agenda is to close deals and hit her target. They have a wide selection of maids because most are transferred maids which didn't work out. Engage them if you don't mind to go through hassle of changing maid and spending money on agency and replacement fees.

As first time employers, getting a helper was quite a daunting task. Shirley took on our requirements, communicated well, and gave us loads of helpful tips to take us through the journey. She was also extremely caring towards our helper as well, making sure that she was also okay with us as employers. She followed up with us whenever progress was made with the application and MOM, and helped us fix a couple of mistakes that we had made filling in the forms.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does Great Employment Agency charge?

Placement fees for a new-hire helper typically run S$1,500–3,500; transfer helpers (already in Singapore on a valid Work Permit) are generally S$500–1,500. Confirm with Great Employment Agency exactly what is bundled — mandatory FDW insurance (roughly S$300–600 per year), the Settling-In Programme, the pre-departure or post-arrival medical exam, and the MOM Work Permit application — versus what is billed on top. Beyond the one-off placement fee, monthly ongoing costs include the helper's salary (S$550–800 depending on nationality and experience) and the MOM levy (S$300 standard, or the S$60 concessionary rate if your household has a child under 16, an elderly member aged 67 or above, or a person with disability). Request a full written fee schedule before signing anything. See the full maid agency cost guide for Singapore →

Is Great Employment Agency MOM-licensed?

Every legitimate maid agency must hold an MOM Employment Agency (EA) Licence, which is publicly verifiable by name or licence number on MOM's online EA directory. No EA licence is currently listed on this KakiList profile, so you should ask Great Employment Agency directly for their licence number and cross-check it on the MOM directory before paying any deposit. EA Grading runs from A+ to C; A+ and A agencies have stronger compliance and complaint-handling records. Engaging an unlicensed agent is illegal, leaves you with no recourse if a placement fails or the agency closes, and can void your FDW insurance. Verify the licence number on MOM's online EA directory before paying any deposit, and read the agency contract's replacement, refund, and early-termination clauses carefully.

What replacement guarantee does Great Employment Agency offer?

A standard replacement guarantee typically covers six months from the helper's arrival date and includes one to two free replacements for documented mismatches — for example, skill gaps, communication issues, or incompatibility with household members. Confirm how many replacements are included, what documentation is required to activate the guarantee, and what circumstances void it (such as the household ending the arrangement without cause). Also clarify the early-termination process if the placement breaks down outside the guarantee window. Repatriation flight costs, any unused MOM levy refund, and Work Permit cancellation paperwork are generally the employer's responsibility once the guarantee period expires. Get the replacement, refund, and early-termination terms in writing before signing the agency contract.
