If you are considering TCM services here, it is worth enquiring about the specific treatments available — such as acupuncture, tui na, cupping, or herbal prescription — and whether the practitioner holds a registration with the Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners Board (TCMPB). At your first consultation, expect an intake assessment covering your presenting condition, medical history, and treatment goals. Clarify whether single sessions or a course of treatment is recommended, the cancellation policy, and whether herbal remedies carry a separate charge.
To take the next step, submit an enquiry through the contact form on the listing to confirm current session availability, pricing, and the practitioner's TCMPB registration number before booking.

Overall the people here are friendly and helpful with questions I had about the product of theirs im not sure of, but there is still 1 or 2 unfriendly staff over here but overall everything is still good
Dishonest staff & manager. Tried to cheat customers, forced my old parents to pay cash to save credit card fee by lying about tax rules. Reported them and got confirmation from authority that the shop manager basically fabricated the rule. Terribly unimpressed by their unethical practice.
Came here to get a herbal drink for my sore throat / cold. Auntie was very friendly and helped mix the medicinal powder in my almond figs tea, plus free honey. Tasted decent and I feel a lot better now. Could pay with paywave too. Thanks
Understandably it’s a corner shop so more disruption can be expected from this busy location. Rostered staff are seen
Encountered the most rude and unhygienic staff named Margaret at Hock Hua TPY central outlet. She had wanted to use dirty plastic bag picked up from floor for customer, which was stopped by another staff member. She was capable of shouting at customer and raising hands at customers without any consideration for safe distancing. Can not comprehend why Hock Hua pays salary to such a horrendous staff who spared no efforts to chase away paying customers.

TCM consultations at most providers do not require a GP referral — you can book directly. At your first visit, expect a traditional intake assessment: the practitioner will ask about your presenting complaint, lifestyle, sleep, and diet, and may examine your pulse and tongue to determine your constitution and pattern diagnosis. If you plan to claim through an insurance policy or MediSave (where applicable for specific TCM treatments at approved clinics), a referral letter or diagnosis code may be required by your insurer. For complex or chronic conditions, it is worth discussing upfront how many sessions are typically recommended before reassessing progress. Bring a list of any Western medications or supplements you are currently taking, as these can interact with herbal prescriptions.
In Singapore, all practising TCM physicians — including acupuncturists and practitioners prescribing Chinese herbal medicine — must be registered with the Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners Board (TCMPB) under the Ministry of Health. It is a legal requirement, not a voluntary credential. You can verify any practitioner's registration number on the TCMPB public register at moh.gov.sg before your appointment. No TCMPB registration details or other regulatory licences are currently listed for Hock Hua Tonic (Chinatown) in this listing. Ask the provider directly for the consulting practitioner's full name and TCMPB registration number, and cross-check it on the public register. Confirm the practitioner's licence number on the relevant board's public register before treatment.
