About Homekeeper International Pte Ltd

About Homekeeper International Pte Ltd

Homekeeper International Pte Ltd is a maid agency operating islandwide from its office at 170 Upper Bukit Timah Road, specialising in the placement of foreign domestic workers (FDWs) for Singapore households. The listing is KakiList-verified and ACRA-registered. It carries a 4.8/5 rating across 695 Google reviews — a robust sample that provides a reliable signal of consistent service. No regulatory licence number is currently listed on this profile; prospective clients should verify the agency's MOM Employment Agency (EA) Licence directly on MOM's online EA directory before proceeding.

When engaging a maid agency, the key decisions centre on whether you need a new-hire helper or a transfer helper — new hires typically cost more in placement fees (S$1,500–3,500) but arrive without prior Singapore employment history, while transfer helpers (S$500–1,500 in placement fees) have existing Singapore experience and a shorter deployment timeline. Beyond the placement fee, households should budget for the helper's monthly salary (S$550–800 depending on nationality and experience), the monthly MOM levy (S$300 standard, or S$60 concessionary if the household has a child under 16, an elderly member aged 67 or above, or a person with disability), mandatory FDW insurance, and the Settling-In Programme. Source-country options typically include Indonesia, the Philippines, Myanmar, and Sri Lanka, each with different language profiles and cultural backgrounds. Confirm what is bundled into the quoted fee versus billed separately.

I first approached Homekeeper almost two years ago. The administrative process of hiring help was initially smooth, and the agent assisted with documentation. Unfortunately, the quality of placement and training was severely lacking. The helper assigned to my household was untrained to the point of being unsafe. She was not taught basic hygiene practices such as washing hands after handling raw meat, nor basic household responsibilities such as waking up on time to send my child to the school bus located just downstairs. She missed the school bus more than 10 times within a period of less than two years, and would have missed more if I had not intervened on my days off. At the time, I was working 5 to 6 days a week. Despite this, I regularly found myself re-cleaning the house on my days off, including Sundays when she was also not working. This was not due to differing standards, but because basic cleaning tasks were not completed. I initially assumed this was due to inexperience and compensated quietly, as I believed she had a good disposition. However, the full extent of the problem only became clear after I sent her home at her own request. I discovered widespread damage and neglect throughout my home. In her final months, she used steel wool on virtually all surfaces, including a glass induction hob and non-stick cookware. When asked why there were no sponges available, she stated they were finished. When asked why she did not replace them despite regular supermarket trips, she replied that steel wool was easier for her. Basic domestic training would explicitly teach that steel wool must not be used on glass or non-stick surfaces. As a result, my glass induction cooker was left with heavily caked and baked-on oil and burnt residue, which took me approximately 10 hours in total to remove. She also routinely failed to wipe down the dining table, despite repeated reminders over a period of months. Every time she cooked, the house filled with smoke. I later discovered this was due to residual oil left on pans from previous cooking sessions. On one occasion, the fire alarm was triggered. The oven base was never cleaned of burnt residue, and the cooker hood was not washed despite repeated instructions, to the extent that oil would occasionally drip from it. More than a week after her departure, I am still cleaning up after her. The bathroom she used almost exclusively had a persistent odour despite repeated requests for proper cleaning. After she left, I found multiple large bottles of half-used shampoo left for me to dispose of, a toilet brush sitting in stagnant water, and bags of rubbish stored in the bathroom cabinet. These included used razor blades, hair clumps, cotton buds, toothpicks, and cut-open toothpaste tubes. She had my child's room almost exclusively to herself while my child slept with me. Upon clearing the room after her departure, I found rubbish hidden in drawers, used cotton buds, and mouldy sunflower seeds stored in the drawers. In total, I disposed of approximately 8 to 9 large bags of rubbish left behind. While I understand that some helpers may lack experience, basic hygiene, safety, and respect for the employer’s home should not require constant supervision. Cooking skills can be taught, and I did so. However, even with ample free time during weekdays when no one was home, basic responsibilities were still not carried out unless explicitly supervised. Given that employers pay several thousand dollars in fees, and that the agency also receives a significant portion of the helper’s salary, I find it unacceptable that such fundamental training is not provided. This experience reflects a serious failure in screening, training, and follow-up by the agency. I am sharing this so other families can make an informed decision. Photos attached are only a very small portion of the damage caused - I spent most of my time cleaning up and did not have the energy to keep documenting.

Linda has provided good service and prompt support. Whenever issues arose with the new helper, Linda was always supportive and communicated closely with both the helper and myself. She consistently gave the helper positive advice and encouragement to help her improve. I highly recommend Linda to anyone who is planning to engage a helper. Thanks Linda.

Linda is such an experienced and caring agent! She really took the time to understand our family’s needs and gave helpful advice along the way. She helped us find our first helper, who stayed with us for 4 years, looked after our kids so well, and became part of our family. Our second helper, also recommended by Linda, has been great and fits us perfectly too. Really appreciate her support and would definitely recommend her!

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does Homekeeper International Pte Ltd charge?

Placement fees vary depending on whether you are hiring a new helper or a transfer helper. New-hire placements typically run S$1,500–3,500; transfer placements (helpers already in Singapore on a valid Work Permit) are usually S$500–1,500. On top of the agency fee, you will pay the helper's monthly salary (S$550–800 depending on nationality and experience) and the monthly MOM levy — S$300 at the standard rate, or S$60 at the concessionary rate if your household has a child under 16, an elderly member aged 67 or above, or a person with disability. Confirm what is bundled into the quoted placement fee — mandatory FDW insurance (roughly S$300–600 per year), the Settling-In Programme, pre-deployment medical examination, and Work Permit application are sometimes included and sometimes billed on top. Is Homekeeper International Pte Ltd MOM-licensed?

Every legitimate maid agency must hold an MOM Employment Agency (EA) Licence, which is verifiable by name or licence number on MOM's publicly accessible online EA directory. No licence number is currently listed on this KakiList profile, so clients should look up Homekeeper International Pte Ltd on the MOM EA directory directly before paying any deposit. The EA Grading system runs from A+ to C; agencies rated A+ or A have stronger compliance and complaint-handling track records. Hiring through an unlicensed agent is illegal, leaves you without recourse if the helper absconds or the agency folds, and can void your FDW insurance. Verifying the licence takes under two minutes and is worth doing before any money changes hands. Verify the EA Licence number on MOM's online EA directory before paying any deposit, and read the agency contract's replacement, refund, and early-termination clauses.

What replacement guarantee does Homekeeper International Pte Ltd offer?

Standard industry practice is a replacement window of roughly six months from the helper's arrival date, with one or more free replacements included if the placement breaks down due to a documented mismatch — though what counts as a qualifying mismatch versus buyer's remorse varies by agency. Confirm the exact window, the number of included replacements, and the conditions that void the guarantee before signing. Also clarify the early-termination process, which applies if the placement ends outside the guarantee window: the household is typically responsible for the helper's repatriation flight, refund of unused levy to MOM, and Work Permit cancellation paperwork. Understanding these costs upfront avoids surprises if the arrangement does not work out. Contact Homekeeper International Pte Ltd directly to obtain the replacement guarantee terms in writing alongside the full agency contract.
