About Intellect
Intellect is a counselling service operating islandwide from its Tanjong Pagar office at 171 Tras Street, Union Building. It is verified by KakiList and holds a 4.8 out of 5 rating across 24 Google reviews — a moderate sample that suggests consistent client satisfaction, though prospective clients should weigh it accordingly. Pricing is positioned in the mid-range tier.
Engaging Intellect typically begins with an initial consultation where the practitioner takes a brief intake assessment covering your presenting concerns, goals, and any relevant history. Whether you are seeking support for stress, anxiety, relationship difficulties, grief, or workplace burnout, confirming the counsellor's approach and therapeutic modality — cognitive behavioural therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, psychodynamic work, or others — helps establish whether the fit is right before committing to a recurring package. Sessions can be booked via WhatsApp, phone, or the online enquiry form. Clarify session frequency, cancellation and rescheduling policy, and whether teletherapy is available alongside in-person appointments.
To take the next step, reach out through WhatsApp, phone, or the contact form to enquire about current availability, session format, and which counsellor would best match your needs before booking a first appointment.
Confirm the practitioner's licence number on the relevant board's public register before treatment.
Counsellor Janet has been very helpful, dedicated and down-to-earth with her counselling approach. Conversations with her are casual and it is always a discussion (rather than probing). It is very impressive on how she put things into perspective and summarises descriptions into concise words/terms. Counsellor Janet is always curious, listening and takes time to understand where things are coming from. Counsellor clarifies and manages to bring matters to light. There is no silver bullet to all matters. Do allow time for her to get acquainted and provide clarity to matters. :)
Intellect Clinic located at Tanjong Pagar is situated behind 100am shopping mall. The building may look old but the Intellect Clinic is well-furnished inside. The clinic is at Level 2. There is stairs or lift. The rooms come in various sizes and cosy. Nice and open place to be in. The design is similar to the one at MarinaOne. All's well.
Janet really helped me through a tough pregnancy earlier this year. She was patient, empathetic and really listened to what I needed. I would highly recommend her as a counsellor! She’s amazing. Thank you Janet
Janet has been very patient and empathetic. She's not just a listening ear. She guides me at my own pace to help me move closer to my goals and doesn't make me feel like a weirdo. Even when the subject matter can be heavy or difficult to unpack at times, she makes me feel safe and supported and tries to understand me. She's so genuine too. A rare gem. I am very thankful to be matched with her.
I recently had the pleasure of working with Jit, a counselor at Intellect, and I can confidently say that she is one of the best mental health professionals I've encountered. Her approach is a perfect blend of empathy, action-orientation, and evidence-based techniques that helped me make significant progress in addressing the challenges I was facing. From our very first session, Jit demonstrated a genuine concern for my well-being. She listened attentively, asked thoughtful questions, and made me feel heard and understood. Her calming presence and non-judgmental attitude created a safe space for me to open up and explore my thoughts and feelings without fear of being misunderstood or criticized. While Jit was compassionate and understanding, she didn't stop there. She quickly identified areas where I could make positive changes and provided me with practical tools and strategies to address my concerns. Her action-oriented approach was refreshing and empowering, as it gave me a sense of control over my own mental health journey. Jit's ability to diagnose the root causes of my difficulties was truly impressive. She used a combination of assessments, journaling prompts, and insightful questions to help me gain a deeper understanding of my thought patterns, behaviors, and underlying beliefs. This process was eye-opening and laid the foundation for targeted interventions that addressed the core issues. If you're looking for a counselor who is empathetic, action-oriented, and equipped with the tools to help you navigate life's challenges, I highly recommend working with Jit at Intellect.

Intellect is priced in the mid-range tier, though specific per-session fees are not publicly listed and should be confirmed directly with the provider. Singapore counselling sessions typically run S$80–200 per hour for private practitioners, with some clinics offering package rates for a block of sessions that reduce the per-session cost. First consultations occasionally carry a separate assessment fee. Confirm whether GST applies, whether a no-show or late-cancellation fee is charged, and whether your employer's Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) or an insurance policy covers sessions at Intellect. A GP referral is not required to book counselling at Intellect, though having one can support insurance reimbursement claims or Community Health Assist Scheme (CHAS) subsidies if applicable. The first visit typically involves a brief intake process — either an online form submitted beforehand or a short verbal assessment at the start of the session — covering your current concerns, relevant personal history, and what you hope to work on. If you have a diagnosed mental health condition or are currently on psychiatric medication, it is worth mentioning this at the point of enquiry so the right counsellor or clinical level of support can be matched to your needs. Clients with acute or complex presentations may be referred to a psychiatrist or clinical psychologist rather than a counsellor.
Counselling in Singapore is not yet a statutorily regulated profession in the way physiotherapy or TCM is, meaning there is no single mandatory licence. The principal voluntary credentialling bodies are the Singapore Association for Counselling (SAC) and the Singapore Psychological Society (SPS). Registered counsellors with SAC membership hold recognised qualifications and adhere to a professional code of ethics — verifiable on the SAC member directory. No regulatory licences are currently listed on the Intellect KakiList profile. Before booking, ask directly which professional body the assigned counsellor is registered with, confirm their qualification level and years of practice, and request their registration number so you can cross-check on the relevant public register.
