About Lorna Whiston

About Lorna Whiston

Lorna Whiston is a playgroup provider operating islandwide from its centre at United Square Shopping Mall in Thomson. The listing is KakiList-verified and ACRA-registered. It carries a Google rating of 4.3 out of 5 across 25 reviews — a moderate sample size, so treat this as directional rather than definitive. Monthly fees are priced at the mid-range tier (indicated as $$).

For families considering enrolment, the typical first step is to enquire about available slots for your intended start month, as playgroup places can fill several months in advance. When you contact Lorna Whiston, ask about the child-to-caregiver ratio, the daily programme structure, and the settling-in approach for younger children. It is also worth clarifying whether the centre is an ECDA-approved operator, as this determines eligibility for government subsidies available to Singapore citizen and permanent resident children.

To begin, reach out via WhatsApp, phone, or the enquiry form to check current availability, arrange a centre visit, and request a full breakdown of monthly fees, registration charges, and deposit requirements before committing to a place.

We have been sending our son for the English Enrichment classes for over a year and have absolutely no regrets. He enjoys the classes and always comes out smiling, his reading and writing skills have also improved. Big thank you to his teachers Ms Priscilla and Mr Nick for the effort and commitment. Will definitely recommend LWS.

My child started speech and drama with Lorna Whiston when she was in K1. Under the two Teachers, Mr Joseph DeMarini and Ms Karen, she had always looked forward to her lessons. When she started Primary 1, she told me she was one of the few who volunteered to introduce herself in front of the class in Mandarin, which she wasn’t fluent in. Knowing her, she wouldn’t have had that courage to volunteer to present herself in front of an audience had it not been the weekly show and tell at Lorna Whiston. It was the best decision made, to start her with Speech and Drama. Thank you Lorna Whiston and thank you to both the Teachers who have made the lessons fun, engaging and encouraging. She has stopped attending classes but I would have loved to have her continue if it weren’t for her academic commitments.

Our son has been attending Speech & Drama lessons at Lorna Whiston since he was 3 or 4 years old and now he is already 11 years old. He enjoys his lesson and looks forward to every lesson. His teacher, Ms Karen, who has taught him all these years is a wonderful teacher. Her lessons are always interesting. We can see that our son has gradually changed from one who dare not speak up to one with self confidence. This is all thanks to Ms Karen’s patience, encouragement and guidance for him.

Just started the programme for 2+months. The staffs (at level 3) and the admin managers are very professional. My daughter likes the class but as usual she doesn’t comment much. But we looked through the work she did in class, and was surprised that she has been writing a lot. Was told that there will be a parent-teacher meet up at end of the term, am looking forward to that for a meaningful review. In the meantime we decided to start my younger child next year with Lorna Whiston.

My son used to take lessons at LWS and I feel he improved over the time and without thinking twice I will definitely recommend my friends and family to send their child to LWS to benefit a lot more from the experienced teachers there👍👍
