About Ma Kuang Healthcare (Woodlands)

About Ma Kuang Healthcare (Woodlands)

Ma Kuang Healthcare (Woodlands) is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) clinic operating islandwide from its City Square Mall location at 180 Kitchener Rd. It is KakiList-verified and holds a 5/5 rating across 76 Google reviews, a moderately sized sample that suggests consistent patient satisfaction. Pricing is positioned in the mid-range ($$), though specific per-session fees were not provided and should be confirmed directly.

Patients typically begin with a first consultation during which the practitioner conducts a tongue and pulse assessment alongside a medical history review to establish a diagnosis under TCM principles. From there, a treatment plan is agreed — this may involve acupuncture, herbal medicine, tui na, or a combination — with sessions scheduled weekly or fortnightly depending on the condition and goals. Patients should bring any existing medical reports, medication lists, or specialist referrals to the first visit, as these help the practitioner understand the full clinical picture. Recurring packages are commonly offered at a discount versus single-session rates, and a clear cancellation policy should be confirmed at booking.

To make an appointment, reach Ma Kuang Healthcare (Woodlands) via phone or the enquiry form listed on this page, and ask for availability, the consulting practitioner's name, and the first-consultation fee before attending.

Clinic is very clean and cosy. The staff manning the counter are patient and helpful, always willing to explain the breakdown of your treatment and help book your next appointment promptly. Their Tuina Therapist, Shi Cong, is very experienced and knowledgeable. I have only been seeing her for a few sessions, but I have felt significant improvements to my knee & back after having issues with them for many years. Would highly recommend this outlet for the convenience-- it's sheltered all the way from the MRT to the clinic-- and the welcoming staff!

Friendly service and very efficient. I thought it was a good session with Mona and my shoulder was better, but the base of my head hurt for 2 days after.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does Ma Kuang Healthcare (Woodlands) charge per session?

Per-session fees for TCM consultations in Singapore typically range from S$30–80 for a standard consultation, with additional charges for acupuncture (S$30–60), herbal medicine (S$20–80 per prescription depending on ingredients), and tui na (S$40–80). First-consultation fees are sometimes higher than follow-up visits. Many clinics offer package rates for recurring sessions, which reduce the per-session cost. Confirm the exact fee structure, whether herbal prescriptions are billed separately, and the cancellation or no-show policy when you call to book. If you intend to claim through an employer's medical benefits, ask whether receipts are itemised by procedure. See the full TCM cost guide for Singapore →

Do I need a referral or assessment first?

No GP referral is required to attend a TCM clinic in Singapore — you can book directly. At the first visit, the practitioner will conduct a full intake assessment covering your presenting complaint, medical history, current medications, and lifestyle factors. It is worth bringing any relevant medical reports, blood test results, or hospital discharge summaries, as these help the TCM physician contextualise your condition alongside conventional findings. If you have a complex or chronic condition — such as an autoimmune disorder, pregnancy, or active cancer treatment — inform the clinic when booking so they can confirm the practitioner's experience with that profile. A GP referral letter, while not required, can be useful if you plan to claim through Medisave (which is permitted for accupuncture at registered TCM clinics for specific conditions) or through an insurer.

Is the practitioner licensed?

TCM practitioners in Singapore must be registered with the Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners Board (TCMPB) under the Ministry of Health. Registration is mandatory under the TCM Practitioners Act and covers physicians, acupuncturists, and those prescribing Chinese herbal medicine. You can verify any individual practitioner's registration on the TCMPB public register at moh.gov.sg before attending. When booking, ask for the name of the practitioner who will be treating you and confirm their TCMPB registration number. This is especially important at multi-branch clinics where different physicians rotate across locations. Professional indemnity coverage is a further check worth making — most registered practitioners practising under an established clinic are covered through the clinic's policy. Confirm the practitioner's licence number on the TCMPB public register before treatment.
