About Mount Alvernia Physiotherapy

About Mount Alvernia Physiotherapy

Mount Alvernia Physiotherapy is a physiotherapy service located at 820 Thomson Rd, Singapore 574623, operating within the Mount Alvernia Hospital campus and offering coverage islandwide. It holds KakiList verification, confirming operating details and contact channel. Its Google rating stands at 3.5 out of 5 across 483 reviews — a robust sample that suggests a mixed reception worth investigating before booking.

Patients typically begin with an initial consultation where the physiotherapist takes a full history, assesses movement, strength, and function, and agrees a treatment plan aligned to the presenting condition or rehabilitation goal — whether that is post-surgical recovery, musculoskeletal injury, neurological rehabilitation, or chronic pain management. Sessions may be one-off or structured as a recurring package depending on clinical need. It is worth confirming in advance whether your private insurance or Medisave (for approved conditions under the Chronic Disease Management Programme) can be applied, what the cancellation policy is, and whether sessions are conducted one-to-one or in a supervised group setting.

To get started, contact Mount Alvernia Physiotherapy by phone or through the enquiry form on their website to describe your condition, request an initial assessment appointment, and confirm session fees and any insurance or subsidy arrangements before your first visit.

My husband and I recently welcomed our 3rd child at Mount Alvernia Hospital. We chose Mount A for all 3 of our births, mainly because it is a Catholic hospital that offers a blessing service for babies and parents post-discharge. In addition, upon request, a Sister or a member of the pastoral team will come to the hospital room to pray with you and bring Holy Communion, as part of Mount A’s Clinical Pastoral Care programme. Personally, Mount A has always felt like home, and the standard of care and service has consistently been superb. A special shout-out to the Lactation Consultant, Ms Sharon, who was incredibly patient and reassuring while guiding me through lactation. I am also deeply grateful to the nurses at St Michael Ward. especially Ms Dina, who promptly picked up on my newborn daughter’s jaundice, allowing us to start phototherapy early and eventually be discharged together. Another nurse, Ms Mala, thoughtfully advised us to keep our baby in the nursery for a longer duration, which greatly helped in bringing her bilirubin levels down overnight. Thank you, Mount Alvernia, for walking this journey with our family once again, with compassion, faith, and excellent care.

I was admitted to Mount Alvernia for a couple of nights due to a gastrointestinal virus, and I’m truly grateful for the care I received from the nursing team at St Gabriel. When you’re feeling at your worst, small things matter a lot. The nurses were attentive, patient, and consistently kind. I felt well looked after throughout my stay. I especially want to thank Nurse Epe. She cared for me with such natural warmth and attentiveness. she was present, calm, and genuinely caring. She checked in regularly, made sure I was comfortable, and responded quickly whenever I needed help. Her steady presence made a difficult time much easier to get through. Thank you to the entire nursing team for the professionalism and compassion you show every day. It truly makes a difference.

My wife and I recently welcomed our baby boy at Mount Alvernia, and we are extremely grateful for the amazing care we received. All the staff from the nurses to the doctors were incredibly professional, gentle, and attentive throughout my wife’s delivery and recovery. They made the whole experience smooth and reassuring for our family. I want to give a special praise and thanks to nurse Pumaren Bituin. She took exceptional care of our newborn son. She is very friendly, caring, and speaks to our baby so gently. When our baby suddenly choked on thick saliva, her quick response and calm actions helped clear the blockage immediately. We are truly thankful that she helped save our baby boy in that moment. Thank you, Mount Alvernia, and especially Pumaren Bituin, for your kindness, dedication, and genuine care. Highly recommended for all new parents.

Avoid this hospital at all cost, biggest mistake ever. First time here and it’s already a nightmare. Among all the private hospital I’ve visited, this feels like govt hospital standards. The standards are appalling. Requested for a single room, none. Two-bedder, none. Four-bedder, none. And where do they put the patient? Right beside a blasting construction site at St Francis ward. Asked if at least the bed could be changed away from the noise or other wards, answer was still no. Imagine paying private hospital prices only to be told “nothing can be done.” What kind of hospital management thinks this is acceptable? Leaving patients shivering from feeling sick and unable to sleep due to the construction workers right outside the window beside us screaming, shouting and drilling. All we were given a form and told to be understanding and wait till the construction workers end work. The room booking team is an absolute disgrace. They should come down themselves and see what they are putting patients through instead of hiding behind excuses. This place calls itself a private hospital, but the experience is worse than a budget ward. Truly the worst decision to ever step foot here. Do yourself a favor and AVOID.

Went for a day surgery today and met with the kindest and sweetest hospital staff. I want to extend my deepest appreciation for the team that supported me at day ward 3, as well as the surgical team. I entered the procedure room with so much anxiety, but was immediately put to ease with light hearted conversations, a warmer under my blanket to feel less cold, gentle music and a cherry blossoms slide show when I told them the big xray tv looked intimidating. Having been through many bad experiences with other medical professionals, I cannot emphasise how impactful these kind interactions were for me today. Immensely grateful to the team at Mount A! ❤️

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does Mount Alvernia Physiotherapy charge per session?

Mount Alvernia Physiotherapy is priced at the moderate range ($$), though exact per-session fees are not publicly listed and should be confirmed directly. As a hospital-based physiotherapy service, fees typically follow a private outpatient structure. In Singapore, private physiotherapy consultations generally run S$80–180 per session, with charges varying by session length, treatment modality (manual therapy, electrotherapy, hydrotherapy), and whether the patient is self-paying or insured. Confirm whether your integrated shield plan or employer insurance covers outpatient physiotherapy, and ask whether Medisave can offset costs under the Chronic Disease Management Programme for eligible conditions. Package pricing for a fixed number of sessions is common and may reduce the per-session rate. GST applies. See the full physiotherapy cost guide for Singapore →

Do I need a referral or assessment first?

A GP or specialist referral is not strictly required to book an outpatient physiotherapy session at most private hospital-based clinics, but having one is advisable in several situations. If you intend to claim from an integrated shield plan or certain employer insurance policies, the insurer may require a doctor's referral letter to process the outpatient physiotherapy claim. For complex post-surgical or neurological conditions, a referral letter also gives the physiotherapist immediate access to your diagnosis, imaging, and surgical notes, which improves the accuracy of the initial assessment. At the first appointment, expect a structured intake: subjective history (onset, mechanism of injury, pain score, functional limitations), objective physical assessment, and a proposed treatment plan with a rough number of sessions. Bring any relevant X-rays, MRI reports, or discharge summaries. Disclose any contraindications — active infection, uncontrolled hypertension, osteoporosis, or pregnancy — so the therapist can adapt treatment accordingly.

Is the practitioner licensed?

Physiotherapists in Singapore are regulated by the Allied Health Professions Council (AHPC) under the Allied Health Professions Act. Every practising physiotherapist must hold a valid AHPC registration, which is publicly verifiable on the AHPC online register at careers.healthprofessionals.gov.sg. Registration is renewed annually and can lapse — it is worth checking that the specific therapist treating you is currently registered. Mount Alvernia Hospital is a MOHH-affiliated private hospital, which provides an institutional layer of oversight over clinical staff. However, no regulatory licence is currently listed for this provider on KakiList. Before your first appointment, ask to confirm the name and AHPC registration number of the physiotherapist who will be conducting your treatment, and verify it on the public register.
