About NUH Physiotherapy

About NUH Physiotherapy

NUH Physiotherapy operates from the National University Hospital campus at One@KentRidge on Lower Kent Ridge Road, serving patients islandwide across physiotherapy needs. It holds a 4.8-star rating across 48 Google reviews, a moderate sample that lends reasonable confidence to the score. Pricing is indicated at a mid-range level; specific session fees should be confirmed directly as no published rate is available.

New patients typically begin with a first consultation in which the physiotherapist assesses the presenting condition — whether post-surgical rehabilitation, musculoskeletal pain, neurological recovery, sports injury, or respiratory physiotherapy — and sets a treatment plan. Being embedded within the NUH network means access to multidisciplinary clinical pathways, with referrals from specialist consultants common. Sessions may be individual or follow a structured programme, and the number of visits required depends on condition severity and recovery progress. Patients with complex conditions or those seeking insurance reimbursement may benefit from an existing GP or specialist referral letter before the first appointment.

To make an appointment, contact NUH Physiotherapy directly by phone or through the enquiry form, and have your referral letter or relevant medical records on hand to help the team schedule the most appropriate assessment.

Started physiotherapy with Alison Tan about six months ago for knee pain. Wasn’t sure if i have any injury but the detailed analysis she did helped me finally understand the root cause of the discomfort. I learnt so much about my muscles and how to use them more efficiently. The deep tissue massage and shockwave therapy also helped to release some tension. The exercise, stretches, as well as the homework she gave were manageable, and my strength and range of movement improved steadily over time. When i had other kinds of injury such as shoulder pain and foot pain after running, Alison also helped me assess what was going on, and her remedies were incredibly effective. She even tailored specific muscle training to support my Hyrox preparation. Every session was valuable, and I’m now able to exercise pain-free! Alison is knowledgeable, friendly, and thorough. Highly recommended for physiotherapy in Singapore! 😊

I came to BMJ Physiotherapy for treatment after being diagnosed with right medial tibial stress syndrome. With guidance and patience from my physiotherapist Alexis, I was able to make quick recovery in about 3-4 months. Additionally, we were able to narrow down potential causes for my condition and work on avoiding them in the future.

I’ve been dealing with sciatica for a while, and it recently got worse. I decided to try physiotherapy at BMJ @ Kent Ridge, and after just three sessions, I felt a big improvement. My physiotherapist, Alexis Lau, was amazing — really knowledgeable and able to pinpoint exactly what was causing my pain. She helped loosen up my lower body and core, and taught me how to maintain better posture and relax the muscles I’d been overworking. Alexis, thanks!

Highly recommend Physiotherapist Bruno from B M J Physiotherapy. Was referred to Bruno from my Orthopaedic doctor due to a pinch nerve / compression on my C6/C7. Was unable to get proper sleep and rest and constantly in discomfort due to the pain and numbness on my left arm. After seeing Bruno weekly for close to 2 mths and following his advises on the daily stretches, I am now pain free! Can’t thank Bruno enough for his thorough and caring consult throughout those weeks. All the best Bruno!

i first consulted Physiotherapist Eric for a wrist injury from sports. I’m now fully recovered thanks to his releasing techniques and guidance on what rehabilitation exercises to do. He also went above and beyond by helping to uncover deeper issues in my rotator cuff and upper trapezius overuse. Really grateful to him for his help, now I can go back to competing. Highly recommended physiotherapist in Singapore 😀

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does NUH Physiotherapy charge per session?

NUH Physiotherapy is indicated at a mid-range price point, but specific session fees are not publicly listed and will vary depending on whether you are a subsidised outpatient, a private patient, or covered under an employer or insurance scheme. As a hospital-based physiotherapy service, charges are typically structured around outpatient clinic rates, which can differ significantly between subsidised and private billing tracks. Common cost components to confirm include the initial assessment fee, subsequent treatment session fees, any equipment or modality charges (such as ultrasound therapy or electrotherapy), and whether your MediShield Life or integrated shield plan covers outpatient physiotherapy. Patients referred by a specialist within the NUH system may qualify for subsidised rates. Contact NUH Physiotherapy directly for a breakdown of current fees before your first appointment. See the full physiotherapy cost guide for Singapore →

Do I need a referral or assessment first?

As a hospital-based physiotherapy service, NUH Physiotherapy commonly accepts patients referred by a GP, specialist, or surgeon within the NUH network, and this referral pathway may determine whether you access subsidised or private rates. Walk-in or self-referred appointments may be possible under the private billing track — confirm this when you call or submit an enquiry. At the first visit, the physiotherapist conducts a structured assessment covering your medical history, current symptoms, mobility limitations, pain levels, and functional goals. It is helpful to bring any relevant imaging reports (X-rays, MRI scans) or discharge summaries. Patients with complex conditions such as post-stroke rehabilitation, post-operative recovery, or chronic neurological conditions should flag these when booking so the right therapist and session length can be allocated. If you plan to claim physiotherapy sessions under an insurance policy or employer benefits, a GP or specialist referral letter is typically required for reimbursement — check your policy terms before the first appointment.

Is NUH Physiotherapy's service legitimate?

NUH Physiotherapy has been verified by KakiList, confirming operating details and contact channels. It carries a 4.8-star rating from 48 Google reviews — a moderate sample size that provides a reasonable directional signal. It is part of the National University Hospital, a MOH-licensed acute hospital and one of Singapore's major public healthcare institutions, which means clinical staff are registered with the Allied Health Professions Council (AHPC) under the Physiotherapy register. AHPC registration is the key regulatory requirement for physiotherapists practising in Singapore and is publicly searchable on the AHPC register at valid.sg. Hospital-based physiotherapy services operate under the broader MOH licensing of the institution rather than holding a separate standalone licence. Confirm the consulting physiotherapist's AHPC registration on the public register before your first treatment session.
