About Promises Healthcare

About Promises Healthcare

Promises Healthcare is a counselling practice based at Novena Medical Centre, offering mental health and counselling services to clients across Singapore. KakiList has verified operating details and contact channels. The practice holds a 4/5 rating across 97 Google reviews, a moderate sample that provides reasonable directional confidence.

Engaging with Promises Healthcare typically begins with an initial enquiry by phone or via their online contact form, through which prospective clients can outline their presenting concerns and discuss appointment availability. At the first consultation, a practitioner will conduct an intake assessment to understand the client's goals, history, and any relevant medical background before agreeing on a therapeutic approach and session frequency. Clients are encouraged to clarify whether sessions are covered under their Medisave or integrated shield plan, as coverage varies by insurer and condition. Location at Novena Medical Centre means the practice is accessible by MRT and sits within a broader medical hub, which can be useful if concurrent specialist or psychiatric care is needed.

To take the next step, contact Promises Healthcare directly by phone or through their enquiry form to check availability and arrange an initial consultation.

I consulted with Dr. Joseph Leong for my wife health assessment and medical report. He is very gentle and assessed my wife properly and issued the report which helps us on legal matters. Even my wife struggles to speak in English due to her stroke he engaged a staff Ms Uma to translate and complete the assessment. I strongly recommend him for such assessments.

I have been a client of them for several years, with regular monthly visits to the clinic. When I initially contacted the clinic, I was experiencing panic attacks and had a somewhat unpleasant tone of voice. However, chloee, the receptionist who first attended to me, was exceptionally professional and courteous, providing me with detailed information and taking the time to understand my specific needs and concerns. She ensured that all appointments and requests for therapists or doctors were clearly communicated and confirmed. Upon my first consultation, Chloe greeted me warmly and attended to my needs with attention to detail. Over the years, I have observed that the clinic staff has undergone changes, but chloe has remained a consistent and reassuring presence, delivering outstanding customer service. Her dedication to her role and professionalism have remained unwavering. On one occasion, despite the clinic being crowded with clients, chloe demonstrated impressive composure and efficiency, attending to everyone's needs in a timely manner. In comparison to other front desk staff, chloe's commitment to customer satisfaction has been remarkable. To gain a better understanding of the other clinic's receptionist staff, I recommend visiting in person or maybe even during phone calls LOL. P.S. I apologise for the delayed review! But I would highly suggest reviewing your clinic staffs work performance/customer service. In fact, you should not hesitate to reward your well performing staffs. If I were to be attended by your other clinic staffs today, I'm sorry to say I'll hesitate further LOL.

Ms Lillian Loo is a wonderful counsellor/ therapist. Besides being a kind and caring listener, she's able to share effective strategies that I can apply in my daily life.

The staff (Uma) and doctor (Dr Joseph Leong) at Promises Healthcare are unsympathetic and rude. I was unable to turn up for my appointment twice as I coincidentally happened to be very ill on both occasions. Hence I was only able to call them and cancelled the appointment on the day itself. The staff (Uma) was unsympathetic and told me off. She said that I will have to show her my medical certificate if I wish to make another appointment. When I tried to make another appointment, Dr Joseph Leong even said I had to pay for the consultation fees before they can confirmed my appointment. I don’t think they should be in healthcare if they have not compassionate and care for the patient. Which is very important especially in this clinical area. Pls do not go to the clinic.

I've been under the care of Dr. Joseph Leong at Promises for the past few months, and I can confidently say I'm on the path to recovery thanks to his thoughtful combination of therapy and medication. Dr. Joseph is a warm and compassionate psychiatrist who genuinely cares about his patients. I highly recommend Promises for anyone seeking professional and supportive mental health care.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does Promises Healthcare charge per session?

Promises Healthcare is listed at a mid-range price tier, though specific per-session fees are not published on this listing. Singapore market norms for private counselling typically run S$120–250 per 50-minute session at a clinic-based practice, with an initial assessment session sometimes priced higher. Confirm the exact session fee, whether a package discount applies for a block of sessions, the cancellation and no-show policy (typically 24–48 hours' notice required to avoid a charge), and whether any portion is claimable under your integrated shield plan or employee assistance programme before booking. See the full counselling cost guide for Singapore →

Do I need a referral or assessment first?

No GP referral is required to book a first appointment at most private counselling practices, including those operating from medical centres. However, some integrated shield plans and corporate EAP schemes do require a GP referral letter to support an insurance claim, so it is worth checking your policy before attending. At the first visit, clients typically complete an intake form covering presenting concerns, mental health history, and current medications. The practitioner uses this to confirm whether the practice is an appropriate fit or whether a referral to a psychiatrist or other specialist would better serve the client's needs.

Is the practitioner licensed?

Counselling in Singapore is not yet a statutorily regulated profession in the way that physiotherapy or TCM is, so there is no single mandatory public register equivalent to AHPC or TCMPB. The key voluntary credentialling bodies are the Singapore Association for Counselling (SAC), which issues Registered Counsellor status, and the Singapore Register of Psychologists (SRP) for psychologists. Practitioners with overseas qualifications may also hold accreditation from equivalent bodies such as the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). Before committing to ongoing sessions, ask for the named practitioner's highest qualification, the credentialling body they are registered with, and their areas of clinical specialism. Confirm the practitioner's licence or registration number on the relevant body's public register before treatment.
