About Shan You Counselling Centre

About Shan You Counselling Centre

Shan You Counselling Centre is a counselling service based at Upper Boon Keng Road, offering sessions across Singapore. The centre has been verified by KakiList, confirming operating details and contact channels. It holds a 3.9 out of 5 rating across 26 Google reviews — a moderate sample that provides some directional indication of client experience, though individual outcomes in counselling vary considerably by presenting issue and therapist fit. Pricing is positioned in the mid-range ($$); specific session fees were not provided and should be confirmed directly.

Prospective clients typically begin with an initial consultation to discuss their presenting concern — whether anxiety, depression, grief, relationship difficulties, or workplace stress — and to assess fit with the counsellor. Sessions may be offered on an individual, couple, or family basis depending on the service scope. It is worth enquiring about session frequency, whether the centre offers short-term or longer-term therapeutic models, and the cancellation and rescheduling policy before committing to a package or recurring sessions.

To take the next step, contact Shan You Counselling Centre by phone or through the enquiry form on their listing to ask about appointment availability, session format, and fees before booking your first session.

Had difficulty finding the place, need to take the lift beside the coffee shop up to level 2 then walk around back to look for the entrance. The Counselling Fee is very expensive. Note: Late cancellation $40 is payable even appointment is cancelled. Greedy Organisation only accepts Cash and NETS.

i would have loved to donate with my whole heart and help an elderly however, your Shan You representative was UNBELIEVABLY pushy. mind you, i am a student of whom has limited allowances, so i’m doing the best i can. i just feel incredibly unsatisfied with the way your representative was asking for donations. i donated $30, however during the process he kept on pushing for me to donate $100 or $50. absolutely stunned and shocked at such an unpleasant encounter. if i ever encounter one of your representatives again i do hope it’s not this boy.

My doorbell rang at close to 10pm. Opened the door to a soft-spoken girl with a male companion. The girl showed proof of the organisation and said it could be verified. I ended up donating $10 and while I truly hope it will go to the beneficiaries, I wonder how much the beneficiaries actually receive. There was no paper record of the amount donated for the organisation to tally, which I found to be worrying. According to Shan You's website, "Shan You has engaged the service of a third party fundraiser – C3 Group Marketing Pte Ltd to assist us with our fundraising efforts with the theme “Giving Love” to be held from 1 September 2019 to 29 November in various locations through the sale of $10 postcards." - This is extremely misleading. The postcard was ONE postcard with the line "Thank you for your $10 donation". Extremely shady. Please do not donate.

I love this place and the workshops that they hold here. I attended the mindfulness for yoga workshop held by Shan You counselling centre and it was really lovely. The instructor was kind and friendly and the place serves water and has their own yoga mats and blocks too. Friendly recep too

Called to ask for counselling service. As i mentioned i prefer the counselling session to be conducted in chinese so front desk admin (Soo Hua & Xiu Wen dont know which one i talked to) suggested trainee counsellor because only trainee counsellor can conduct the session in chinese. I put up my request to ask for experienced counsellor as i feel i am more comfortable to work with experienced counsellor for my personal issues even thought the session for experienced counsellor is conducted in English. The front desk admin keep pushing trainee counsellor to me and mentioned that the waiting time for experienced counsellor would take longer. Initially she said i might need to wait for about one month, subsequently she said maybe need to wait for 1.5 mths. When she called me back to inform me the schedule she mentioned i need to wait until MAY which is about 2 mths. Could you please check properly before giving any information? When i requested her to email me the schedule for my consideration as i am not convenient to pick up the phone during my working hour. She said she cannot email and can only inform through phone call. Her tone is a bit offensive! First is the judgement on the language for counselling session, second is impatient in answering client doubt, when ask for email due to inconvenience in answering the call, she is reluctant to pop me an email. After few time of requests she agree to send me the schedule through email but only given me little time to consider. 8.42pm she emailed me the schedule and request me to reply on next day 9am. Please treat your client with professional etiquette! I dont even know how can i go for the counselling service with ur company since ur admin has such a bad manner.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does Shan You Counselling Centre charge per session?

Shan You Counselling Centre has not published a specific per-session rate on this listing, so fees should be confirmed directly by phone or enquiry form. As a general reference, counselling sessions in Singapore typically run S$80–180 per hour at community-based or non-profit-linked centres, and S$120–250 at private practices. Some centres offer a sliding-scale or subsidised rate for lower-income clients, and it is worth asking whether any fee assistance applies. Confirm whether the quoted rate covers a full 50-minute or 60-minute session, whether an initial intake assessment is billed separately, and what the no-show or late-cancellation policy is. Package pricing for multiple sessions is sometimes available but should be weighed against the commitment before a clear therapeutic fit is established. Do I need a referral or assessment first at Shan You Counselling Centre?

Most counselling centres in Singapore accept self-referrals — you can contact Shan You Counselling Centre directly without a GP letter. However, an intake form or brief phone assessment is common before the first session, allowing the centre to understand your presenting concern and match you with an appropriate counsellor. If you are managing a clinical mental health condition such as moderate-to-severe depression, psychosis, or a complex trauma history, a GP referral to an Institute of Mental Health (IMH) or polyclinic psychiatrist may complement or precede counselling. A referral letter can also help if you intend to claim counselling costs under an employer's Employee Assistance Programme or certain insurance riders that require documented medical necessity. Bring any relevant background — a GP memo, previous psychological reports, or medication details — to the first session if applicable.

Is the practitioner at Shan You Counselling Centre licensed?

Counselling in Singapore is not yet subject to statutory licensing in the same way as physiotherapy or TCM — there is no single mandatory register that all counsellors must join. Voluntary professional bodies include the Singapore Association for Counselling (SAC) and the Singapore Psychological Society (SPS); membership signals that a practitioner meets defined training and ethical standards and is subject to a code of conduct and complaints process. Shan You Counselling Centre has not listed specific regulatory licences on this platform, so it is advisable to ask directly about the lead counsellor's qualifications (degree-level training in counselling or psychology, SAC membership, years of practice) and whether they hold professional indemnity insurance. If the presenting concern involves a diagnosed mental health condition, confirm whether the centre works alongside psychiatrists or can make referrals when clinical support is needed.
