"This clinic is excellent; the staff and doctors are very friendly. Regarding restroom usage times, I'd like to suggest that cleaning could be scheduled outside of regular clinic hours. This would ensure a clean environment without disrupting patient and visitor use. As for cleaning methods, water-saving techniques could be considered, avoiding excessive water splashing on the floor. Especially during non-holiday periods when people are visiting their hometowns, slippery floors might require extra attention. Furthermore, who should be held responsible if a patient falls? Considering that most patients are elderly, I suggest installing handrails in the corridors for added safety. Of course, this is just a suggestion, and I hope it will be adopted. Finally, I wish everyone good health."

Went to the Woodlands outlet for knee and heel pain issue, was treated by Loo Lian Cheang and his trainee staff who exemplified great professionalism and knowledge throughout the whole visit and acupuncture procedure. They asked several questions to understand my issues and pain area before diagnosing and recommending the treatment. Thank you!

I encountered a neurological condition that caused limping and numbness. After receiving acupuncture treatment, I experienced a substantial improvement, with an approximate 80% reduction in symptoms. The healthcare professionals involved displayed remarkable compassion and professionalism throughout the process. I highly recommend this treatment option.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does Singapore Chung Hwa Medical Institution (Yishun) charge per session?

Singapore Chung Hwa Medical Institution (Yishun) is listed at the mid-range price tier ($$), though specific session fees are not publicly published — contact the clinic directly to confirm the consultation charge and any treatment add-ons. As a general Singapore benchmark, TCM consultations typically run S$20–50, acupuncture sessions S$40–80, tui na S$40–70, and herbal prescriptions S$20–60 per week's supply depending on the formula. Package deals for recurring conditions are common and usually offered after the first visit. Confirm the per-session rate, whether herbal medicine is billed separately, and the no-show or cancellation policy before your appointment. See the full TCM cost guide for Singapore →

Do I need a referral or assessment first?

No GP referral is required to book a TCM consultation — you can contact the clinic directly by phone or enquiry form and attend as a walk-in or booked appointment. At your first visit, expect to complete an intake form covering your medical history, current medications, and presenting complaints before the practitioner conducts tongue and pulse diagnosis. If you have a complex or chronic condition, bringing any recent blood test results or specialist reports helps the TCM practitioner contextualise your constitution. Patients with bleeding disorders, pacemakers, or who are pregnant should flag this at the start, as some modalities such as acupuncture and cupping have specific contraindications. If you intend to claim the session under a company medical benefit or integrated shield plan, request a tax invoice with the practitioner's registration details so your HR or insurer can process it correctly.

Is the practitioner licensed?

TCM practitioners in Singapore are regulated by the Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners Board (TCMPB) under the Ministry of Health. Registered practitioners are listed on the TCMPB public register at moh.gov.sg — you can search by the practitioner's name to verify that their registration is current and in good standing before your appointment. Note that this listing does not currently specify the names of the registered practitioners on staff. It is reasonable to ask the clinic for the treating practitioner's TCMPB registration number when you call to book, particularly if you are seeking treatment for a specific condition or plan to make an insurance claim that requires a named registered provider. Confirm the practitioner's licence number on the TCMPB public register before treatment.
