Clients typically begin by submitting an enquiry through the contact form on the provider's website, where they can outline their presenting concern or goal — whether that is anxiety, relationship difficulties, grief, work stress, or another matter. From there, an initial consultation is arranged to assess fit between the client and counsellor, discuss session frequency, and determine whether a single session or an ongoing package best suits the situation. It is worth asking about the counsellor's specific modalities (for example, CBT, ACT, or solution-focused approaches), availability for weekday versus weekend appointments, and the cancellation policy before committing to a package.
To take the next step, submit an enquiry through Talk Your Heart Out's contact form with a brief description of what you are hoping to address, and ask for the first-session format, fees, and the counsellor's professional registration details before confirming your booking.
Confirm the practitioner's licence number on the relevant board's public register before treatment.
I had one session with John but so far so good. I'm keen to continue. It was easy to talk to him. His soothing voice and calm demeanour makes you feel like you're in a safe bubble. I'm looking forward to continuing on this process with him. Thanks John!
As a mental health practitioner, I value working with organizations that prioritize ethical standards and respect for both clients and therapists. My experience with TYHO made me question whether these principles are consistently upheld in their practices. For therapists, from the moment you log into the internal dashboard, we are prompted with messages to follow up with clients. The performance metrics shown on our dashboard observed emphasize several measures, including: 1) The number of clients seen 2) The average number of sessions per client 3) The percentage of returning clients 4) The number of active clients If these metrics fall below the average, therapists will be contacted by the platform and their suggestion is to reach out to clients to book more sessions or to offer discounts at the expense of the therapist's fee or risk having their profile restricted from accepting new clients to improve metrics. In my own opinion, this approach does not always account for the complexity of cases or clients who may only require brief or focused support. If clients reach out to the platform requesting for a regular check in using their messaging system outside of scheduled sessions, there are no compensation and their rationale is that such communication build rapport and continuity of the therapeutic relationship. There are constant reminders on the dashboard and, during sessions, about not exchanging contact details. I believe and trust most of us do not and it feels excessive if the platform is targeting just a handful of therapists. Additionally, the platform’s notice period require six months if a therapist chooses to leave, and therapists are expected to continue providing services to current clients. While the policy is described as protecting client continuity, in my opinion, it creates a longer commitment. This account reflects my personal experience and perspective and is shared to inform consideration of platform practices.
Alva has been incredibly warm and sensitive, while remaining objective and thoughtful in her guidance. She has helped me identify my underlying issues and recurring patterns with great clarity. I really appreciate how she supports me in working through them and learning healthier ways to manage my thoughts and reactions
My first therapy session with Glen made me feel warm and supported. He was not judgmental of anything I said and spoke with a slow, calm tone that helped me slow my mind down during this difficult time. I felt safe during my session and look forward to future sessions.
Was initially hesitant because of the prices but with the therapists' self introduction video, it was easy to assess their vibe to choose the appropriate therapist. For me, Savrina has been the therapist i truly needed. She is attentive, always listens first, and gives both great insight and advice. She is able to answer my questions without judgement and truly seeks to understand. Even though the sessions are online, it does not feel like there is a screen between us. As for the website, some feedback I would give would be: - For it to be an app instead of website so that notifications can be given to remind us of upcoming sessions - Session notes should be auto-saved - 1.5h sessions should be an option instead of the standard 1h or booking back to back 1h sessions for a 2h session It has only been my 3rd session but I am definitely sticking around!

Specific session fees are not publicly listed for Talk Your Heart Out, so it is best to enquire directly via their contact form for current pricing. As a general guide, counselling sessions in Singapore typically range from S$80 to S$200 per 50-minute session at private practices, with initial consultations sometimes priced differently. Some providers offer discounted packages when multiple sessions are booked together. Confirm whether the quoted fee covers the full session duration, whether a separate intake or assessment fee applies for the first visit, and what the no-show or late-cancellation policy is. GST may apply depending on the provider's registration status. See the full counselling cost guide for Singapore →
Most private counselling practices in Singapore, including Talk Your Heart Out, do not require a formal GP referral to book a session — you can typically self-refer by submitting an enquiry directly. However, an intake form or brief phone consultation is common before the first appointment, allowing the counsellor to note any contraindications or determine whether a psychiatric assessment would be more appropriate for complex presentations. If you intend to claim through an insurer or Medisave (note: Medisave does not currently cover outpatient counselling, only certain psychiatric conditions at approved institutions), a GP referral letter may still be useful for documentation. For more acute or risk-related concerns, your GP or a restructured hospital's psychiatric outpatient clinic is the recommended first point of contact.
Counselling in Singapore is not yet a statutorily regulated profession in the way that physiotherapy or TCM is, meaning there is no single mandatory licence. However, credible practitioners typically hold membership with the Singapore Association for Counselling (SAC) or registration with the Singapore Register of Counsellors (SRC), which requires accredited training and supervised practice hours. Some counsellors also hold registration with the Allied Health Professions Council (AHPC) if they practise as psychologists rather than counsellors. No licence information is currently on file for Talk Your Heart Out on this listing. Before your first session, ask the counsellor for their professional registration body, registration number, and whether the practice carries professional indemnity insurance — these details should be provided without hesitation by any reputable practitioner. You can verify SAC membership on the SAC website. Confirm the practitioner's licence number on the relevant board's public register before treatment.
