Patients typically begin with a first consultation during which the physician conducts a tongue and pulse assessment, reviews presenting symptoms or chronic conditions, and discusses treatment goals. Depending on findings, a session may involve acupuncture, herbal prescription, tui na, cupping, or a combination of these. It is worth clarifying whether you require a single session or a recurring treatment course, what the cancellation policy is, and whether herbal medicine is dispensed on-site or requires a separate pharmacy visit. Patients with complex or chronic conditions — such as musculoskeletal pain, fertility concerns, or post-stroke recovery — should bring any relevant medical reports or imaging to the first visit.
To book a consultation, contact Tan Kok Chuan Chinese Physician & Acupuncture directly by phone to confirm appointment availability, the consultation fee, and whether a course-based package is recommended for your condition.
Confirm the practitioner's licence number on the relevant board's public register before treatment.
They are open from morning to evening with breaks in-between hence, I can visit them after work. There are two physicians and they work together. I visited them when I sprained my lower back. The physician did massage, cupping, and acupunture for my back. The session was about 45 mins to an hour from consultation to treatment. I got better and the pain reduced after the first session. I went back again 3 days later for another session of treatment. After which, my back pain was gone and I have no problem with my daily activities, like squat or roll up.The medicated patch that they used is very good that I bought some home. Due to my desk bounded job, I felt aching sometimes. They advised me to lie on my back whenever I can so that my back can recover faster and massage when it's aching. I am very grateful. The two physicians and the receptionist auntie are very kind and sincere. If it's your first time doing acupunture, you can let them know so they would explain to you about the process.

Came to seek help for a lower back blockage and was warmly welcomed and greatly treated! As a European and a first timer with Chinese medicine, it was a great experience as the doctor explains the different treatment methods he does as well as their use, thus keeping you aware of what's happening! Would definitely recommend, especially for bone injuries or discomfort as it is the main expertise of the clinic!

No formal referral is required to visit a TCM physician in Singapore. At the first consultation, the physician will conduct a standard intake assessment — tongue inspection, pulse reading, and a review of your health history, current medications, and presenting complaints. It is helpful to bring any GP letters, specialist reports, or imaging results if your condition has already been investigated through Western medicine, as these assist the physician in forming a complete picture. If you plan to claim through MediShield Life, Medisave, or an employer's insurance, note that Medisave can be used at registered TCM clinics for specific conditions — confirm eligibility with your insurer and the clinic before the appointment, as not all TCM consultations qualify.
In Singapore, Chinese medicine practitioners must be registered with the Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners Board (TCMPB) under the Ministry of Health. Registration is mandatory and verifiable on the TCMPB public register at moh.gov.sg. A registered practitioner will hold a valid practising certificate, which must be renewed annually. No regulatory licences have been listed for Tan Kok Chuan Chinese Physician & Acupuncture on this KakiList profile — it is advisable to ask for the physician's TCMPB registration number and verify it directly on the register before proceeding with treatment. Confirm the practitioner's licence number on the TCMPB public register before booking.
