The staff are knowledgeable in the herbs, and give great advice in how to use and store them properly. The herbs look fresh and smell great. I can't wait to cook my weekly beauty and tonic soup. Best of all, they accept CDC vouchers. Let's support heartland shops! 😘

Went Chinatown to buy some herbs for stewing believing the many TCM shops in the area are well established and trustworthy... Went straight in to Teck Soon beside the Buddha Tooth relic temple and asked for a $2 packet of stew herbs and the lady opens a few drawers spending quite some time picking...To my surprise & great disappointment, I was given a packet with bits and pieces of broken herbs(half pc of split 草果, 2 small baby bay leaf, a few baby odd shape star anise etc plus some powdery and dusty can't tell what !!!) We highlight the insufficient bay leaf and half 草果 but was told it's good enough as more or bigger will be too strong for stewing. Unable to accept this kind of poor quality & altitude, we pd & walk over to another shop nearby and the polite staff efficiently leads us to stacks of well packed herbs for my selections. We're so impressed with the quality and happily took a packet with great satisfaction. Please see photos attached and judge the difference. If I can put minus - ⭐s for 不得信Teck Soon, I WILL 😡

As a professional TCM practitioner, this has been my go-to herb shop since 2012. Good quality herbs at competitive prices compared to others with similar quality. 12 years since, and I still go to Teck Soon whenever I need to make an herbal purchase.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does Teck Soon Medical Hall charge per session?

Teck Soon Medical Hall is priced at a mid-range level ($$), though specific per-session fees were not published at the time of listing. In Singapore, TCM consultations with acupuncture typically run S$40–90 for the first visit (including needling) and S$30–70 for follow-up sessions. Herbal prescriptions are usually billed separately at S$20–80 per week's supply depending on the formula. Tui na and cupping sessions are often S$40–80 per session on their own or combined into a package at a lower per-session rate. Confirm the exact fee structure — including whether the initial consultation, treatment, and herbs are billed as one line item or separately — before your first appointment. Ask about package pricing if you anticipate ongoing treatment. See the full TCM cost guide for Singapore →

Do I need a referral or assessment first?

No referral is required to visit a TCM practice in Singapore. For a first visit, expect to complete an intake form covering your current complaint, medical history, medications, allergies, and lifestyle factors. The practitioner will then conduct a TCM assessment — typically including pulse diagnosis and tongue examination — before recommending treatment. If you have a complex or chronic condition, bringing a recent GP or specialist report can help the practitioner understand any biomedical context alongside the TCM assessment. Some TCM treatments, including acupuncture, have contraindications for certain conditions such as bleeding disorders, pregnancy, or active infection — disclose these upfront. If you intend to claim against an insurance policy or Medisave (which covers accredited TCM acupuncture at MOH-approved clinics), confirm eligibility with both the clinic and your insurer before your first session.

Is the practitioner at Teck Soon Medical Hall licensed?

In Singapore, TCM practitioners must be registered with the Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners Board (TCMPB) under the Ministry of Health. This registration is mandatory and publicly verifiable on the TCMPB register at moh.gov.sg — you can search by practitioner name or clinic name before booking. Registered practitioners hold qualifications in one or more TCM disciplines: acupuncture, herbal medicine, or tui na. No regulatory licence was listed for Teck Soon Medical Hall at the time of this listing — contact the clinic directly and ask for the practitioner's TCMPB registration number, then cross-check it on the public register before proceeding with treatment. Confirm the practitioner's licence number on the TCMPB public register before treatment.
