About The Center for Psychology

About The Center for Psychology

The Center for Psychology is a counselling and psychological services practice located at Clemenceau Avenue, operating islandwide across Singapore. It holds KakiList verified status and carries a 4.7 out of 5 rating across 37 Google reviews, which represents a moderate sample and can be treated with reasonable confidence. Pricing is positioned in the mid-to-upper range based on the listed tier, though specific per-session fees were not available at time of listing.

Prospective clients typically begin with an initial consultation to discuss their presenting concern — whether that is anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, grief, work stress, or another psychological matter — and the psychologist or counsellor will outline an assessment approach and likely treatment pathway. Sessions may be offered individually, as couples, or as family sessions depending on the presenting need. It is worth confirming whether the practice offers a fixed number of sessions per package, a recurring arrangement, or an open-ended engagement, and clarifying the cancellation and rescheduling policy upfront. Clients with complex clinical presentations may benefit from checking whether the practitioner holds registration with the Singapore Psychological Society or the Allied Health Professions Council.

To take the next step, reach out via WhatsApp, phone, or the online enquiry form to ask about current appointment availability, the specific practitioner you would be seeing, their credentials and approach, and the per-session fee before booking your first appointment.

As an academic who has dedicated much of my career to the field of psychology, I tend to approach services like TPP with a healthy degree of skepticism. Often, large practices can rest on their reputations without necessarily evolving or adapting to the latest in psychological research. But after experiencing their approach firsthand, I feel it's important to share what truly sets TPP apart. When I first engaged with them, I was inspired not only by the professionalism but by the depth of their knowledge and the genuine warmth of their psychologists. TPP isn't just riding on a name or its large following - there's a palpable commitment to evidence-based treatment here. Every session I attended seemed rooted in the latest research, incorporating cutting-edge techniques that I know are making waves in academic circles. It's clear they put thought into every aspect of the treatment process, and that they're continually updating their methods as new insights emerge. I also found myself quite taken by the culture TPP has fostered; they care not only about your immediate issues but also about helping you build lasting resilience. The attention to detail and the passion for helping people truly come across. TPP's fame might initially draw people in, but it's their integrity and dedication to genuinely effective therapy that keep them coming back. I find myself wholeheartedly recommending them to anyone who wants more than a 'one-size-fits-all' solution. This is a place where therapy is both an art and a science - and they don't take either aspect lightly.

From the moment I reached out to The Psychology Practice, their kindness shone through. Their receptionist was warm and accommodating, making the initial process seamless, something I have not experienced in all my years in the service industry. My therapist displayed genuine kindness during my sessions and still continues to do so, creating a safe and non-judgmental space. Her compassion and understanding significantly impacted my experience, fostering a sense of trust and openness. If you're seeking a clinic that values kindness from the first contact to each session, I wholeheartedly recommend this place. It also doesn’t hurt that their new clinic is beautiful and very cosy 👍

Sara has been my psychotherapist for about 3+ years, and I followed her to TPP from public healthcare, for about a year now. I'm not exaggerating when I say I thank my lucky stars I have her. TPP has an excellent team and the environment is very calm and welcoming. I wasn't expecting the environment to play such a huge role in therapy itself (since I've been in therapy before TPP), but just entering the place allows me to feel a sense of peace. there are some cozy spots within TPP itself. I find myself hanging around one of the spots after therapy, just relaxing and having some quiet time. the admin staff and other members of the team always give a gentle smile when they walk past. overall, I'm glad to say it's worth the price I pay. truth be told, private therapy IS expensive, but this is something I will not skimp on. p.s. this is the first place I've ever been for private therapy so I can't compare with other private practices. but I know the members of TPP were all from public healthcare, which is a green flag for me.

I know Dr Shawn for a long time since he was working in a hospital and I'm proud that he left and started up his own clinic to do what he was not able to do in a corporate setting, which is to give focused, and more in depth therapy help to clients as well as other things that drive his passion for Clinical Psychology . The snippet posts on the clinics Facebook and Instagram pages reflect his passion and direction in how the mental health situation in Singapore should be improved.. through sharing and learning, asking the difficult but practical and important questions to ourselves and subsequently promote thinking in terms self-awareness and self-reflection. Always keep thinking, learning and sharing knowledge. If you're struggling through therapy at public hospitals and feel that your situation is more complex and you need more focused care, and you have a bit extra funds to spare for more a more directed approach to your needs, please consider Dr Shawn and his team. Don't just see a psychologist to get a diagnosis or report, do it for yourself, to heal, change and end therapy as a stronger person to face life and it's random challenges.

I am un-ashamed to say that I have benefited from my appointments with Dr. Shawn Ee. Words cannot describe how much better I feel. You may ask me what I chatted with Dr Shawn Ee about. That's a secret between him and me, but suffice to say that I had a very difficult time in my early childhood, when I was approximately 4 years old, or younger. Now I am 31 years old, and it is not an exaggeration to say that it is an absolute miracle that I have even lived this long. (And I thank a Biblical God for that). If you're hesitating right now, undecided whether you want to seek professional help, I would be so bold as to encourage you to go ahead and invest in yourself. You are absolutely worth it. You may turn to your family and friends, who may mean you well, but sometimes they hurt you with their words and deeds, more than they help you. Sometimes it is better to leave it to a professional. So, what are you waiting for? The (physical) climb to the office of The Psychology Practice is a little steep, but I have found it worthwhile to make such a physical exertion... even if I have to do it repeatedly. It is no Sisyphean task! (In my experience, at least).

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does The Center for Psychology charge per session?

The Center for Psychology lists its pricing in the mid-to-upper range, but specific per-session fees were not published at the time of this listing. In Singapore, counselling and psychological services typically run S$120–180 per session for counsellors and S$180–350+ per session for registered psychologists, with an initial assessment session sometimes priced differently from follow-up sessions. Confirm the fee for your first appointment before booking, including whether a separate intake or assessment charge applies, what the cancellation or late-reschedule fee is, and whether packages are available for clients committing to multiple sessions. See the full counselling cost guide for Singapore →

Do I need a referral or assessment first?

Most counselling and psychology practices in Singapore do not require a GP referral for self-referred clients, though a referral from a psychiatrist or GP can be helpful if you intend to make a MediSave or insurance claim — some integrated shield plans cover psychological therapy when a clinical referral is in place. At your first visit, expect to complete an intake form covering your presenting concerns, relevant history, and any contraindications. The practitioner will typically conduct an initial assessment before agreeing on a treatment approach. If your situation involves a complex clinical diagnosis, medication management, or risk assessment, the practice may co-manage your care with a psychiatrist — worth confirming in advance.

Is the practitioner licensed?

In Singapore, psychologists may be registered with the Singapore Psychological Society (SPS) or, for clinical and counselling psychologists working in regulated settings, with the Allied Health Professions Council (AHPC) under the Allied Health Professions Act. Counsellors may hold accreditation with the Singapore Association for Counselling (SAC). No regulatory licences were listed for The Center for Psychology at the time of this listing, so it is advisable to ask directly which professional body each practitioner is registered with and to request their registration number. You can verify AHPC registration at the AHPC public register and SAC accreditation at the SAC member directory. Confirm the practitioner's credentials before your first appointment. Confirm the practitioner's licence number on the relevant board's public register before treatment.
