Engaging with a counselling provider typically begins with a brief initial consultation to discuss your presenting concerns — whether anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, grief, trauma, or workplace stress — and to assess whether the practitioner's approach is a good fit. The Psychology Practice can be reached via WhatsApp, phone, or an enquiry form. At the first session, expect an intake conversation covering your background, goals, and any relevant history. It is worth asking whether sessions are delivered in person at Clemenceau Avenue, online, or both, and whether the practice can accommodate specific therapeutic modalities such as cognitive behavioural therapy, psychodynamic therapy, or EMDR. Clarify the session length, cancellation policy, and whether block bookings or packages are offered.
To take the next step, reach out via WhatsApp or the contact form to request an initial appointment and confirm session availability, fees, and the name of the counsellor or psychologist who will be working with you.
Confirm the practitioner's licence number on the relevant board's public register before treatment.
As an academic who has dedicated much of my career to the field of psychology, I tend to approach services like TPP with a healthy degree of skepticism. Often, large practices can rest on their reputations without necessarily evolving or adapting to the latest in psychological research. But after experiencing their approach firsthand, I feel it's important to share what truly sets TPP apart. When I first engaged with them, I was inspired not only by the professionalism but by the depth of their knowledge and the genuine warmth of their psychologists. TPP isn't just riding on a name or its large following - there's a palpable commitment to evidence-based treatment here. Every session I attended seemed rooted in the latest research, incorporating cutting-edge techniques that I know are making waves in academic circles. It's clear they put thought into every aspect of the treatment process, and that they're continually updating their methods as new insights emerge. I also found myself quite taken by the culture TPP has fostered; they care not only about your immediate issues but also about helping you build lasting resilience. The attention to detail and the passion for helping people truly come across. TPP's fame might initially draw people in, but it's their integrity and dedication to genuinely effective therapy that keep them coming back. I find myself wholeheartedly recommending them to anyone who wants more than a 'one-size-fits-all' solution. This is a place where therapy is both an art and a science - and they don't take either aspect lightly.
From the moment I reached out to The Psychology Practice, their kindness shone through. Their receptionist was warm and accommodating, making the initial process seamless, something I have not experienced in all my years in the service industry. My therapist displayed genuine kindness during my sessions and still continues to do so, creating a safe and non-judgmental space. Her compassion and understanding significantly impacted my experience, fostering a sense of trust and openness. If you're seeking a clinic that values kindness from the first contact to each session, I wholeheartedly recommend this place. It also doesn’t hurt that their new clinic is beautiful and very cosy 👍
Sara has been my psychotherapist for about 3+ years, and I followed her to TPP from public healthcare, for about a year now. I'm not exaggerating when I say I thank my lucky stars I have her. TPP has an excellent team and the environment is very calm and welcoming. I wasn't expecting the environment to play such a huge role in therapy itself (since I've been in therapy before TPP), but just entering the place allows me to feel a sense of peace. there are some cozy spots within TPP itself. I find myself hanging around one of the spots after therapy, just relaxing and having some quiet time. the admin staff and other members of the team always give a gentle smile when they walk past. overall, I'm glad to say it's worth the price I pay. truth be told, private therapy IS expensive, but this is something I will not skimp on. p.s. this is the first place I've ever been for private therapy so I can't compare with other private practices. but I know the members of TPP were all from public healthcare, which is a green flag for me.
I know Dr Shawn for a long time since he was working in a hospital and I'm proud that he left and started up his own clinic to do what he was not able to do in a corporate setting, which is to give focused, and more in depth therapy help to clients as well as other things that drive his passion for Clinical Psychology . The snippet posts on the clinics Facebook and Instagram pages reflect his passion and direction in how the mental health situation in Singapore should be improved.. through sharing and learning, asking the difficult but practical and important questions to ourselves and subsequently promote thinking in terms self-awareness and self-reflection. Always keep thinking, learning and sharing knowledge. If you're struggling through therapy at public hospitals and feel that your situation is more complex and you need more focused care, and you have a bit extra funds to spare for more a more directed approach to your needs, please consider Dr Shawn and his team. Don't just see a psychologist to get a diagnosis or report, do it for yourself, to heal, change and end therapy as a stronger person to face life and it's random challenges.
I am un-ashamed to say that I have benefited from my appointments with Dr. Shawn Ee. Words cannot describe how much better I feel. You may ask me what I chatted with Dr Shawn Ee about. That's a secret between him and me, but suffice to say that I had a very difficult time in my early childhood, when I was approximately 4 years old, or younger. Now I am 31 years old, and it is not an exaggeration to say that it is an absolute miracle that I have even lived this long. (And I thank a Biblical God for that). If you're hesitating right now, undecided whether you want to seek professional help, I would be so bold as to encourage you to go ahead and invest in yourself. You are absolutely worth it. You may turn to your family and friends, who may mean you well, but sometimes they hurt you with their words and deeds, more than they help you. Sometimes it is better to leave it to a professional. So, what are you waiting for? The (physical) climb to the office of The Psychology Practice is a little steep, but I have found it worthwhile to make such a physical exertion... even if I have to do it repeatedly. It is no Sisyphean task! (In my experience, at least).

The Psychology Practice lists its pricing at a mid-range level, but specific per-session fees are not publicly displayed. In Singapore, counselling and psychology sessions typically run S$120–250 per 50-minute session for private practice; clinical psychologists and psychiatrist-supervised practitioners generally sit at the higher end of that band. Confirm the exact fee before your first appointment, and ask whether a reduced rate is available for students, seniors, or clients on a low income. Also clarify the cancellation and no-show policy — most practices charge the full fee for late cancellations within 24 hours. See the full counselling cost guide for Singapore →
A GP or specialist referral is not required to book directly with a private counselling practice such as The Psychology Practice — you can enquire and self-refer via WhatsApp, phone, or the online form. At the first session, the practitioner will typically conduct an intake assessment covering your concerns, history, and goals before agreeing a treatment approach. If you plan to claim through MediShield Life, an employer-provided health insurance policy, or a corporate Employee Assistance Programme, check whether your insurer requires a GP referral letter or a specific diagnosis code — this affects reimbursement eligibility. For complex presentations such as trauma, personality disorders, or co-occurring psychiatric conditions, a referral to a psychiatrist may be recommended alongside or instead of counselling.
Singapore does not yet have a single statutory licensing body for counsellors, but registered psychologists fall under the Singapore Register of Psychologists (SRP), administered by the Singapore Psychological Society (SPS). Clinical psychologists who are also Allied Health Professionals are registered with the Allied Health Professions Council (AHPC) — verifiable on the AHPC public register at healthprofessionals.gov.sg. Before booking, ask The Psychology Practice for the full name and registration details of the counsellor or psychologist you will be seeing, and confirm their registration on the SPS or AHPC directory. Also ask about their academic qualifications, years of clinical experience, and the therapeutic modalities they are trained in — these matter for fit and safety, especially where trauma or complex mental health presentations are involved.
