About Unistarr Employment Pte Ltd
Unistarr Employment Pte Ltd is a maid agency serving households islandwide from its office at 170 Upper Bukit Timah Road. The listing is KakiList-verified and ACRA-registered, with a 4.0/5 rating across 76 Google reviews — a moderate sample that provides reasonable directional confidence. No MOM Employment Agency (EA) Licence appears in the listing data, which prospective clients should verify directly before engaging the agency.
When approaching Unistarr, households typically begin by clarifying whether they need a new-hire helper or a transfer helper, as placement fees and timelines differ significantly between the two. New-hire placements (typically S$1,500–3,500) involve sourcing from Indonesia, the Philippines, Myanmar, or Sri Lanka, and include the Settling-In Programme, medical examination, and Work Permit application. Transfer helpers are faster to place and carry lower fees (typically S$500–1,500) but come with an existing employment history to review. Monthly costs beyond the placement fee include the helper's salary (S$550–800 depending on nationality and experience) and the MOM levy (S$300 standard, or S$60 concessionary for eligible households with a child under 16, an elderly member aged 67 or above, or a person with disability). Confirm what is bundled into the agency fee versus billed separately — FDW insurance, medical screening, and Work Permit fees are sometimes itemised on top.
Contact Unistarr via WhatsApp, phone, or the enquiry form to confirm current source-country availability, the replacement guarantee window, and the agency's MOM EA Licence number before paying any deposit.
Verify the EA Licence number on MOM's online EA directory before paying any deposit, and read the agency contract's replacement, refund, and early-termination clauses.
DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS AGENCY. Unreliable, not responsive. They recommend first helper but helper backed out. 2nd helper was confirmed and deposit placed but agency got back 20 days later saying that helper did not pass training center’s observation. Now we are chasing for agency refunds which agency replied that it will take “a minimum of 30 working days.” While MOM’s regulations states agency refunds has to be within 14 working days. This agency is so shady. PLEASE STAY AWAY. They will boast on their agency rating but as per experience, we don’t even think the agency rating is true. The whole experience working with this agency is so shady. Jennie’s service attitude is the worst of all service agents. Never hold the interviewing call with helpers on time, cannot be bothered to give a reply. She works as if she is the boss of Unistarr
Paid slightly higher agency fees and got an "experienced" Indonesian maid from Unistarr agency in Bukit Timah. When this maid stole my jewellery, I wanted to send her back to Indonesia as I cannot keep her in my house. I brought her back to Unistarr. The female manager said that I have to pay food and lodging and can only buy air ticket to fly next day afternoon as next day morning their office is not open even if I pay for food and lodging for one night. I also cannot fetch maid directly from lodging to go airport thus have to buy airticket for maid to leave in afternoon after agency opens. Manager's tone of speech was rude, indifferent and was unreluctant to help. This is the first time I come across a maid agency manager with such bad attitude. I am not sure if she is the owner of the agency or relative of the key appointment holder that's why she can "afford" to behave like this. It is like mine is a done deal, agency fee has been earned from me and the maid and now they don't need to bother much what happens between maid and employer. It is now my problem with the maid, and nothing to do with them. This is a drastic change in attitude from when I first went into her agency to find a maid few months before. Told her the maid stole my jewellery costing a few thousand dollars, she said other employers had bigger loss than mine. I eventually made a police report after the maid left Singapore. This female manager suggested transfer the maid despite knowing that she stole from me with evidence and Maid also admitted she stole. Maid wanted to go back to Indonesia, so sending her back without getting replacement maid will forfeit the maid loan. Their replacement maid package is also high so in the end I got another maid through another agency after I send the maid back to Indonesia. I also forfeited the balance of the maid loan and paid her airticket. For those who get a new maid from Unistarr, make sure you can collect the maid when they tell you to do so. Unistarr wanted to charge me $30 per day when I requested that i pick her the next day. This agency is inflexible and every cent will be charged to you if possible. For those who want to get maid from them, don't forget to READ the contract properly for collection and replacement. Go to MOM website to check who runs the agency. And also confirm with Unistarr how much of the service fee will be refunded to you if you do not take replacement maid from them. If for example, the service fee is $100 plus lodging, transport, airticket etc etc total $1500 excluding maid insurance, then U get back half of $100 if within 6 months and if refund conditions are met. They charge for food and lodging for maid when you send back maid for transfer. I think $20 or $25 a day. Pay maximum food and lodging I think is 30 days. So if $20/day, be prepared to pay $600 maximum for the maid lodging while waiting for her new employer. All these are cost add up when sending your maid for transfer and getting a replacement maid from this agency. When I first engaged this maid from them, my phone number was added into a WhatsApp group chat created by Unistarr with a few phone numbers belonging to don't know who. After my experience with this agency, I have no confidence to get a transfer maid from them after they suggested that I send my maid who stole my jewelery back to them for transfer to another employer. To me, Agency customer service (when there is an issue), agency fees, costs of sending your maid back to agency to find another employer and replacement package are important factors. There are many agencies out there and many biodatas to choose from in Singapore. Few floors of agencies in the whole of Bukit Timah shopping centre. Compare other agency packages, pray that the maid you get from Unistarr is suitable, consider all the unexpected add on costs and read the fine print very carefully before you sign their contract. Go to MOM website check the agency ratings I certainly will not step into Unistarr again after experiencing their after sales service.
I have been using their service since many years.I always had a pleasant experience hiring my house help from them.My second helper stayed with me for almost 3 years.I would highly recommend this agency. They customise and help you to interview right candidates ,based on your requirements. Keep up the good work and Thank You!
PLEASE DO NOT DELETE CUSTOMER’S HONEST REVIEW. Engage this agency at your own risk. If the helper you get is ok, then lucky you. If not, be prepared that this agency will not be replying to your issues promptly and give all excuses that they are in a call/engage with employers. Have to call them over 10 times and send them multiple messages then you’ll get a reply from them. However, if you’re new customer enquiring, don’t worry, everything will be reply ASAP. This agency as well as the helper I gotten has got integrity issues. Firstly, during the handover, I was told by SUMMER from the agency that employer can scold the helper but not beat them (which is common sense that beating someone is a crime) if the helper have done wrong. So the helper again and again told lies and took the change from the lunch money we passed her to buy her SIM card as she does not have enough (which she claimed that she had enough when we asked her before she went to buy). So the helper kept quiet about it the whole time until I asked her about the change, then she told us she doesn’t have enough so have to “borrow” from us and will return us once she has the money. What kind of mindset is this. So she got scolded after she did that and whenever she lied about things. After that, the helper will say she wants to go back agency (and there I was accused of asking her to leave my house when I have videos of her saying she wants to go back agency) This matter was escalated to MOM as I lodged a complaint against this agency. And there the agency claimed that scolding is not the solution as the helper is scare of my scolding. Despite all the helper’s wrongdoing, I’m very confused on what the agency is trying to convey to me. So to reduce its liability, this agency told me yes it’s considered stealing but on the other hand when I requested for full agency refund, they said I can’t considered that as stealing as the helper did not take the money from my wallet directly. The helper is just blur, thought the change is for her. Which is ridiculous when other days she can return us the change… Secondly, when going through the contract, I was told by SUMMER that if we want the helper to work during the mandatory once a month off day also can, I told her isn’t it mandatory off day for them (when obviously it is against MOM law) she says, just discuss with the helper as some of them just want money. This was brought up to MOM and the agency deny about saying this (which obviously I have guessed so). But no matter what I feel this should be highlighted to MOM. Despite all the lies and stealing, the agency expect the employer to pay for the helper’s lodging when she was sent back to the agency and came up with all sort of stories to push the liability to me. Kept claiming that it’s in the contract. For other agencies I have enquired, it is also stated in the contract that employer will bear the lodging charge but subject to reason for sending the helper back. Helper is only with us for two weeks, take our money without informing and asking. Telling me lies when I asked her about things. This kind can keep?
To Unistarr Katong branch, I am very satisfied with the excellent services provided by Unistarr. Staff here are very patient and responsive to my needs, they waited patiently in the delayed response in our chat group, assisting me in choosing suitable candidates that met my criteria after nearly 2 months of follow up. They thoroughly explained the procedures of maid employment, making the whole experience relatively easy and simple! Will definitely recommend to my relatives and friends looking for FDWs.

Placement fees at maid agencies in Singapore typically run S$1,500–3,500 for a new-hire helper and S$500–1,500 for a transfer helper. Contact Unistarr directly to confirm their current fee schedule, as pricing varies by source country and helper profile. Beyond the one-off placement fee, budget for the helper's monthly salary (S$550–800 depending on nationality and experience) and the monthly MOM levy — S$300 at the standard rate, or S$60 at the concessionary rate if your household includes a child under 16, an elderly member aged 67 or above, or a person with disability. Ask Unistarr to confirm which of the following are bundled into their placement fee versus billed separately: mandatory FDW insurance (~S$300–600/year), the Settling-In Programme, medical examination, and Work Permit application costs. Every legitimate maid agency in Singapore must hold a MOM Employment Agency (EA) Licence, which is publicly verifiable on MOM's online EA directory by agency name or licence number. The licence number should appear on the agency's website, contracts, and invoices. No EA Licence is listed in Unistarr's current KakiList data — confirm the licence number directly with the agency and cross-check it on the MOM EA directory before signing any agreement or paying a deposit. EA Grading runs from A+ to C; agencies rated A+ or A have demonstrated stronger compliance and complaint-handling records. Engaging an unlicensed agent is illegal, leaves you with no recourse if the helper absconds or the agency closes, and can void your FDW insurance. Verify the EA Licence number on MOM's online EA directory before paying any deposit, and read the agency contract's replacement, refund, and early-termination clauses.
Standard replacement guarantees at Singapore maid agencies typically run for six months from the helper's arrival date. During this window, if the placement proves unsuitable due to a documented mismatch — skills, temperament, or household fit — the agency arranges a replacement, often at no or reduced cost. Contact Unistarr directly to confirm the length of their guarantee window, how many replacements are included, and what circumstances void the guarantee. Also clarify the early-termination process for placements that break down outside the guarantee window. If the helper leaves or is repatriated after the guarantee expires, the household typically bears the costs of the return flight, Work Permit cancellation paperwork, and any unused levy already paid. Understanding these terms upfront helps avoid unexpected costs later. Ask for all replacement, refund, and early-termination terms in writing before signing the agency contract.
