Lovely for those looking for a Waldorf preschool/ playgroup, great to see a playgroup that's available until 4yrs old. Great to see the Waldorf techniques in action and learn from it as we attend their playgroup. Pros of the approach that we witnessed: 1. Screen-free (No usage of phones by any adults in the playgroup in front of the children - 1 of the rules of joining the playgroup) 2. Gentle mannered and respectful teachers, 3. Lovely technique of singing songs to help children transition from one activity to another and help them understand the concept of time and how to share. The teacher tells the child that when the song is over, it's another child's turn to have a toy, which helps them mentally prepare for giving up the toy as they don't understand time yet. 4. Children learn practical life activities via imitation and because they are given the choice to do so (or not) rather than top-down instruction where everyone must do the same activity. E.g. make bread, learn to cut fruit, and tidy up. 5. No pressure from adults or the expectation to perform - when making bread children are not asked "What shape do you want to make/ what is it?" As they may not be making any sophisticated shape and just enjoying the kneading process and get pressured from the expectation that they're supposed to make something beautiful (which often they don't yet have the fine motor skills to do so yet). It's a cosy interior, so don't expect anything fancy, but sets children up well with the respectful and gentle approach. Since it's a screen free environment, they're not very active on social media - they don't constantly post pictures of the children online for marketing purposes, which is refreshing. So it may feel like there's not as much information about them online but I do encourage those looking for the Waldorf approach to try it for yourself!
