About Adult & Child Eye Clinic

About Adult & Child Eye Clinic

Adult & Child Eye Clinic is an ophthalmology practice located at Mount Alvernia Hospital, St Anne Mother & Child Centre, on Thomson Road. KakiList has verified its operating details and contact channels. It holds a 4.9-star rating across 69 Google reviews — a moderate sample that gives reasonable confidence in the pattern. No regulatory licence details or ACRA registration have been confirmed through this listing, so prospective patients are advised to verify the clinic's MOH Healthcare Services Licence and the consulting doctor's SMC registration independently before booking.

For a first appointment, patients or parents typically contact the clinic by phone or through the online enquiry form to describe the presenting concern — this may range from a child's squint, refractive error, or blocked tear duct, to an adult complaint such as floaters, dry eye, or deteriorating vision. The clinic's position within the St Anne Mother & Child Centre at Mount Alvernia Hospital means paediatric cases are a stated focus, though adult patients are also seen. At the consultation, the ophthalmologist will assess visual acuity, ocular alignment, and eye health, and may arrange investigations such as refraction, imaging, or orthoptic assessment depending on the clinical picture. For children, developmental milestones relevant to vision and school-readiness screening are part of the clinical context. Follow-up cadence depends on the diagnosis — amblyopia management, for instance, requires closer monitoring than a straightforward spectacle prescription.

To proceed, contact Adult & Child Eye Clinic directly by phone or via the enquiry form on their listing to confirm appointment availability, the consulting ophthalmologist's name, and what to bring to the first visit — including any previous spectacle prescriptions or referral letters from a GP or polyclinic.

Dr. Cheryl Ngo is an incredible doctor. We started going to her clinic a year ago for my daughter's eye treatment. The whole experience has been very pleasant, and she has handled my daughter well. She is very gentle, approachable, and patiently listens to all of our concerns. We recently got the surgery done after trying other methods. We are glad that the surgery went well under her care. The post-surgery care experience was also great, she was always helpful and was replying to our concerns even on holidays. All the staff is also very helpful and responsive. Thanks once again, Dr. Cheryl and team.

I am truly blessed to be recommended by a skin specialist who is seeing my daughter for her extensive ezcema. My daughter had cataract on both eyes due to long steroid use in her previous treatment and only God knows how anxious we are when she suddenly complains of blurred vision and cloudiness in her eyesight. Dr Cheryl Ngo addressed our concerns & anxiety with high level of professionalism and care. She is truly empathetic and caring and arranged for urgent surgery for my daughter. Dr Cheryl Ngo is God sent. To my daughter she is an angel. Dr Cheryl is one of the kindest & most patient doctor we have ever known. Thank you Dr Cheryl ❤️We are also thankful to Valerie, for her awesome support, she is so gentle and so assuring and knowledgeable when carrying out eye tests. She is truly an asset to the clinic. I would strongly recommend Ace Clinic to my friends and family.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does Adult & Child Eye Clinic charge?

For a private specialist ophthalmology consultation, the Singapore market range is S$120–250 for a first visit and S$80–180 for follow-ups, with investigations billed separately. Common add-ons include refraction and visual-acuity assessment (S$30–80), fundus photography or OCT imaging (S$80–200), and orthoptic assessment for paediatric squint or amblyopia cases. GST applies on private medical services. Adult & Child Eye Clinic has not published a specific fee schedule on this listing. Contact the clinic directly to confirm consultation fees and what is included before your visit. If you hold an Integrated Shield Plan, check whether pre-authorisation is required and whether the clinic accepts your insurer's direct billing. MediSave can be used under the MediSave 500 outpatient withdrawal limit for selected conditions. For any planned procedure (such as strabismus surgery or pterygium removal), request a written financial counselling estimate itemising insurance payout, MediSave deduction, and out-of-pocket portions before confirming. Is Adult & Child Eye Clinic MOH-licensed and how do I verify the doctor?

No MOH Healthcare Services Licence or Singapore Medical Council (SMC) registration details have been confirmed through this listing. Both are mandatory for a legitimate private specialist clinic: the clinic premises must hold an MOH Healthcare Services Licence under the Healthcare Services Act, verifiable on the MOH licensee directory, and the consulting ophthalmologist must appear on the SMC public register at smc.gov.sg — where you can confirm their registration status, specialist accreditation in Ophthalmology, and any disciplinary history. Mount Alvernia Hospital is itself a licensed private hospital, which provides a degree of structural assurance, but the individual specialist clinic operating within it still requires its own licence. For a surgical-specialism practice, a Royal College or Academy of Medicine Singapore fellowship (FRCS Ophthalmology or FAMS) is the meaningful additional credential beyond basic SMC registration. Verify both the clinic licence and the named doctor's SMC entry before booking — neither alone is sufficient. Verify the doctor's name on the Singapore Medical Council register and the clinic's MOH Healthcare Services Licence before booking, and for any planned procedure request a written financial counselling estimate that itemises insurance payout, MediSave deduction, and out-of-pocket portions before paying any deposit.

How do I use MediSave or insurance at Adult & Child Eye Clinic?

Integrated Shield Plans (IPs) layered on MediShield Life typically cover private specialist ophthalmology consultations, day surgery (such as strabismus correction or laser procedures), and inpatient stays, subject to your plan's deductible, co-insurance, and rider rules. Confirm pre-authorisation requirements and request a Letter of Guarantee from your insurer before any planned procedure to avoid claim disputes after the fact. Not all IP plans offer direct billing at private specialist clinics — check with your insurer and confirm with the clinic's billing team. MediSave can be applied under the S$500 outpatient withdrawal limit for selected outpatient conditions, and the Chronic Disease Management Programme (CDMP) extends the MediSave withdrawal limit to S$700 for listed chronic conditions. Selected eye surgeries — including cataract surgery — have specific MediSave claim limits under the Surgical Procedures Table, which the clinic's billing team can quote in advance. For paediatric cases, parents should note that a child's MediSave account may be used if the child is a Singapore Citizen. For any planned procedure, request a financial counselling session so the clinic can issue a written itemised pre-treatment estimate splitting insurance payout, MediSave deduction, and out-of-pocket portions. Skipping this step is the most common reason patients are surprised by their final bill.
