About Alfred Cheng Orthodontic Clinic ACOC
Alfred Cheng Orthodontic Clinic ACOC (ACOC) is a specialist orthodontic practice located at Mount Elizabeth Medical Centre, offering islandwide access via WhatsApp, phone, and an online enquiry form. The clinic holds a 4.5/5 rating across 41 Google reviews — a moderate sample that provides a reasonable directional signal. No regulatory licences have been confirmed in the listing data, and ACRA registration has not been verified; parents and patients are advised to confirm the clinic's MOH Healthcare Services Licence and the treating doctor's Singapore Medical Council (SMC) specialist accreditation directly before booking.
Orthodontic care typically begins with a first specialist consultation, during which the orthodontist assesses dental alignment, jaw development, and skeletal growth through clinical examination and imaging such as OPG X-rays and cephalometric scans. For paediatric patients, the timing of treatment matters considerably — early interceptive orthodontics may be recommended from age 7–9 to guide jaw growth, whilst comprehensive fixed appliance or clear aligner treatment usually commences once most permanent teeth have erupted. Parents should ask about the full treatment plan, expected duration, appliance options (traditional metal brackets, ceramic brackets, or clear aligners), and retainer protocol after active treatment ends. Written financial counselling, including the split between MediSave usage, any applicable insurance coverage, and out-of-pocket costs, should be provided before committing to treatment.
Contact ACOC directly via WhatsApp or phone to enquire about appointment availability, and request a written treatment estimate and financial breakdown at or before the first consultation.
Verify the doctor's name on the Singapore Dental Council register and the clinic's MOH Healthcare Services Licence before booking, and for any planned procedure request a written financial counselling estimate that itemises insurance payout, MediSave deduction, and out-of-pocket portions before paying any deposit.
I just have to say, Dr. Alfred Cheng and his clinic are absolutely fantastic! My daughter has been getting her braces done by him, and every single visit has been just amazing. It's truly heartwarming to witness how at ease she is under his care. Dr. Cheng is so calm, understanding, and really knows how to connect with his young patients. His professionalism and top-notch expertise shine through in every consultation, making us feel confident in the treatment plan. And let me tell you, his team is top-notch—always there, super friendly, and incredibly accommodating with appointment times, which honestly makes our lives so much easier. Overall, we couldn't be happier with the treatment and attention my daughter has received. I enthusiastically recommend Dr. Cheng and his clinic to anyone looking for orthodontic services!
I first consulted Dr Cheng in the 2000s when I was in university and he fixed my first set of braces. After about 2 years, I had my teeth strengthened and was ready to venture into the working world. 2 decades on and owing to the sheer lack of discipline on my part to wear my retainers, my teeth shifted and a gap emerged at my lower premolars (although largely unnoticeable to most). I naturally returned to Dr Cheng to seek advice. He was extremely helpful and classified the case as a minor relapse. Even though my last consultation with him was more than 20 years ago, he kindly offered an extremely reasonable rate for me to be placed on a 6 month treatment program. I am nearing the end of treatment plan and am very pleased with the results. Dr Cheng is well known in orthodontics and extremely experienced- I recently found out that a number of my friends also sought orthodontic treatment from him as children. He is an extremely meticulous, decisive, honest and straight talking doctor. I have no hesitation recommending him and have no doubt that the best interests of his patients lie at the heart of his practice.
Always wondered if I was too old to do braces as an adult. I did my braces with Dr Cheng here 3 years ago and have no regrets since. I liked that adjustments were quick and efficient. Dr Cheng is fast with his hands and each appointment takes less than 15 minutes. This makes the process more bearable cause you know it will be over very quickly. He doesn't initiate much small talk though he is very friendly and will chat with you if you strike one. Despite that, he has a warm smile and always makes me feel at ease in his clinic. While waiting, I always see his other patients coming in and out, happy with their visit. Note that Dr Cheng doesn't do extractions or routine cleaning. For those, stick to your regular dental clinic!
I am 52 this year and I consulted Dr Cheng when I was 50 but I didn’t proceed then. Consulted him again a year ago and went ahead with the braces and after 1.5 years of wearing it, I removed the braces today and it was one of the best things I have done for myself. The gap in between my teeth is gone! I have several implants and other dentists I consulted told me they have to be removed and to be redone. Dr Cheng is the only one who told me confidently that he will go around it and he will still be able to adjust the bite and close the gap I want. He and his team are very efficient, detailed and each appointment was quick and precise and got the job done. I am always in and out within 10 mins and for someone with a packed calendar this is much appreciated. I am so glad I chose him :)
Dr Cheng is always very professional and patient when handling my teeth. His braces adjustments sessions are v fast as well and I can see the improvements in my teeth with each session. Glad to be doing my braces with him!

Orthodontic specialist consultations at private clinics in Singapore typically run S$120–250 for a first visit, with follow-up reviews at S$80–180. Comprehensive orthodontic treatment (braces or clear aligners) is generally quoted as an all-inclusive package ranging from S$4,500 to S$9,000+ depending on case complexity, appliance type, and treatment duration — usually 18 to 30 months for full fixed treatment. Pre-treatment imaging such as OPG and cephalometric X-rays (S$80–200 each) may be billed separately, as are replacement retainers after treatment ends. For planned orthodontic treatment, request a written financial counselling estimate that clearly splits any MediSave deductions, insurance coverage, and the out-of-pocket portion before committing. GST applies on private medical services. See the full paediatric cost guide for Singapore →
Every legitimate private specialist clinic must hold an MOH Healthcare Services Licence issued under the Healthcare Services Act — verifiable on the MOH licensee directory. The treating orthodontist should also appear on the Singapore Medical Council (SMC) public register at smc.gov.sg, where you can confirm their registration status and specialist accreditation in Orthodontics under the Dental Specialists Accreditation Board. Note that orthodontists are dental specialists registered with the Singapore Dental Council (SDC), not the SMC — confirm accreditation on the SDC register accordingly. No licences have been confirmed in this listing. Contact the clinic directly to request the clinic's MOH licence details and the treating specialist's SDC registration and accreditation number, and verify both on the respective public registers before booking. Orthodontic treatment is generally considered elective and is not claimable under MediShield Life or standard Integrated Shield Plans (IPs) in most circumstances. MediSave cannot be used for routine orthodontic consultations or braces. However, if an orthodontic component is part of a surgical procedure — such as orthognathic (jaw correction) surgery for severe skeletal discrepancies — the surgical portion may be MediSave and IP claimable subject to the procedure being on the approved list and pre-authorisation from your insurer. Before committing to any treatment plan, ask the clinic explicitly which components (if any) are MediSave or insurance claimable, and request a written itemised estimate distinguishing claimable from self-pay items. For orthognathic surgery cases, obtain a Letter of Guarantee from your IP insurer before the procedure to avoid post-treatment claim disputes.
