came here on a Chinese New Year shopping tour, and it was very crowded. As soon as I stepped in, I noticed some food stalls on the right. I thought maybe the prices would be cheaper, but when I asked, they were the same as outside. So don’t assume everything here is cheap. The food stall vendors rent their spaces from Ben’s Food, so there’s no way they would lower prices. For example, one piece of yellow dragon fruit cost $5, the same as everywhere else. Naturally, I didn’t buy it. One of the Chinese vendors even tried to persuade me to buy a whole box of seven pieces, but I looked at her and said firmly, “No.” They also mentioned that this warehouse sells wine, but I couldn’t find any. On the bright side, cow’s milk (1 liter) was cheap, much cheaper than NTUC—around $2.50—so I bought a few. I wish I could have bought more, but it was heavy, and I didn’t have a trolley. What was cheap here were the frozen meats. Each tray of pork belly, pork collar, or chuck beef slices was only $2. Of course, there were only a few slices in each tray, but since I’m not a big meat eater, I thought the price and quantity were good enough for me. So I bought all three varieties. Naturally, there were many aunties grabbing those trays as well. I also bought their sausages, though those weren’t cheap at all. In addition, I got a pack of 2kg Japonica rice made in Vietnam. However, the rice was a bit tough—you need to soak it for at least 30 minutes before cooking.

COWHEAD CHEESE SLICES. From "Australia"..Good price..slightly higher than another "Austria"n ARLA cheese slice. cowhead is Australian, Convenient individually wrapped, Starter culture enzyme is mentioned..(enzyme, originally, from possibly, RENNET from calf stomach..but now in industrial food manufacturing, cultured enzyme is not taken directly from a cow..but for strict lacto-vegetarian its a point to consider..But it's HALAL certified.. Followup: COWHEAD cheese (Australia)= 1.47g of Sodium per 100g of cheese. ARLA cheese (Austria)= 1g of Sodium per 100g of cheese. (or Cowhead has 47% more Sodium than Austrian, ARLA CHEESE SLICES). COWHEAD also tastes much more saltier. Costwise Arla cheese, which is also marginally cheaper. So for continuous daily consumption, especially for those who would like to reduce Sodium, ARLA cheese is a better choice.(BOTH are HALAL certified from source countries)..Cowhead should reduce its salt addition!!..OR provide an alternative LESS SALT, HEALTHY version...Less Salt= More Healthier!! Ben foods should let the manufacturer in Australia 🇦🇺 know about these feedbacks to consider improvements.

AVOID HOME ORDERS. THEY WILL JUST LEAVE FOOD AT DOORSTEP WITHOUT EVEN INFORMING THAT ORDER IS HERE. SO IF YOU DIDN'T NOTICE, YOUR FROZEN ITEMS GET DEFROSTED VERY QUICKLY ESPECIALLY WHEN THE WEATHER IS HOT. BEN FOODS DELIVERY DRIVER IS LIKE A GHOST. EVEN LAZADA DELIVERY PERSONNEL WILL HAVE DECENCY TO WHATSAPP OR KNOCK ON DOOR UPON DELIVERY. Update: Same issue in subsequent order. $100+ worth of food, driver just leave the things without even knocking on door or just whatsapp or call. Simple gesture that doesn't take a minute to do can help prevent unwarranted food defrosting. Utterly disappointing. Avoid home orders because they simply do not care if your food gets defrosted. Am waiting for their response. Such irresponsible delivery service, best to shop else where. Even Lazada delivery personnel not delivering food also have the decency to whatsapp and inform consumers the order at door. Utterly shameful. Old: Decent food quality but be wary of their logistics negligence to pack food and deliver items outside delivery date specified. Experienced the horror of coming home to find items defrosted at the door because they delivered on the wrong date. A 1-to-1 exchanged was done. Please take note that defrosted items should not be refreeze again as it is a health hazard. Bacteria has actively multiplied during the defrosting at room temperature and then made dormant again when refreeze. Thus, when you defrost it again, the existing dormant bacteria wakes up and multiplies again. Hence, if food is not cooked thoroughly you will risk getting a more severe food poisoning case as compared to stomachache from food that is defrosted once but not cooked properly. Steaks at rare to medium rare are at risks. TIP: Proper way of defrosting is to thaw it in the chiller unit a day before as at colder temperatures, bacteria is not as active as compared to defrosting at room temperature. Last resort is thawing it at room temperature or over running water.

Don’t order from them (BenMart) on Shopee. I messaged them to inform me the timing of food delivery and they did not reply. Then they just dumped the food at my door without informing me of anything.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does Ben Foods Catering charge per pax?

Ben Foods Catering uses a per-pax pricing model, which is standard for buffet and event catering. Singapore market norms run roughly S$15–25 per pax for a standard buffet, S$25–40 per pax for a premium spread, S$18–30 per pax for mini-buffets (minimum 8–15 pax), and S$8–18 per pax for bento delivery. Live-station formats typically fall in the S$30–60 per pax range. Ask what the quoted rate covers: delivery and setup fees for addresses outside the central region, equipment such as chafing dishes and warmers (sometimes included, sometimes billed separately), buffet attendant on-site (typically S$80–150 per attendant), waste collection, and GST. Confirm the minimum headcount for your preferred format. See the full catering cost guide for Singapore →

What dietary options and halal certification does Ben Foods Catering offer?

Before booking, confirm directly with Ben Foods Catering whether they hold a MUIS halal certificate — no regulatory licences are currently listed on this profile. A MUIS-certified operator will display a licence number and validity dates on their certificate; 'no pork no lard' or 'halal-friendly' without MUIS certification is not the same as certified halal and will not meet the standard for guests who observe strict halal requirements. Also confirm vegetarian (lacto-ovo versus vegan), no-beef options for Hindu guests, gluten-free, and nut-free availability. Ask about cross-contamination protocols for mixed-dietary events and whether a menu tasting is available before you commit — most caterers offer a tasting for orders above a minimum value.

Is Ben Foods Catering licensed and how is food safety handled?

No SFA Food Shop or Catering Licence is currently listed on this profile, and ACRA registration has not been confirmed. Legitimate caterers hold an SFA Food Shop or Catering Licence with a hygiene grade — A is highest, then B, C, and D. Halal-certified caterers additionally hold a MUIS certificate; both should be available on request or visible on the company's website. Ask Ben Foods Catering to share their SFA licence details and hygiene grade before paying any deposit. From a food-safety standpoint, hot dishes should be maintained above 60°C and served within a two-to-three-hour cooked-to-served window per SFA guidelines. Confirm the setup arrival time, replenishment protocol during the event, and how leftover food is handled at the end. Confirm the SFA Food Shop or Catering Licence (and MUIS halal certificate where required), book a tasting before paying the deposit, and put the per-pax rate, minimum headcount, dietary mix, delivery and setup window, and balance schedule in writing.
