About Brain Matter
Brain Matter is a tuition centre based in Bishan, serving families across Singapore. It holds a KakiList verified status and carries a 4.9-star rating across 104 Google reviews — a robust sample that suggests consistent learner outcomes. Pricing is indicated at the moderate range ($$), though specific per-session or monthly fees should be confirmed directly with the centre.
When enquiring, it is worth clarifying which level and syllabus Brain Matter covers — whether that is PSLE, O-Level, A-Level, or an international curriculum such as IB or IGCSE — and whether your child's subject combination is available. Ask whether the format is group tuition or one-to-one, as this will affect both the learning dynamic and the fee. It is also sensible to ask about term commitment expectations, any materials fees, and whether online sessions are an option if you cannot always make it to the Bishan centre.
The most practical next step is to contact Brain Matter via WhatsApp, phone, or the enquiry form to ask about a trial class for your child's level and subject, and to confirm current timetabling before committing to a term.
Take the trial class and confirm the tutor's actual credentials before committing to a term.
My son has just received his O level results. He achieved A2 in Emath and B3 in Amath. We are extremely happy with his results. He only began Amath lessons with Mr Bernard in June 2025, 4 months before the O level. Prior to that, his results had been at D7 from Sec 3 to WA1 in Sec 4. For Emath, he started lessons in late Sec 2,before that, he was also consistently scoring in the D7–E8 range. We are very grateful to Mr Bernard for his dedication, guidance, and unwavering support.
My son joined Brain Matter begining of the year for Ms. Sophia's English class. He has been very happy with the classes and I have seen him improve a lot as well. The class size is ideal and what I like the most about the classes is it's very student led in the sense that they ask the students what component of English to prioritise if their weighted assessments are around the corner. Teacher Sophia takes a personal interest in the students improvements, is approachable and gives personalised feedback as well. My son has improved a lot in his essay writing too. This has worked well for my son and we are continuing under the same teacher for next year as well. Keep up the good work Brain Matter team ! Would not hesitate recommending them! Big shout out to Ms. Sophia for being an amazing teacher ! Thank you!
My son has made very good progress in Math and Science since he joined Brain Matters. From failing Math and Science to grade 2 and 3 respectively for his 2025 N levels . A great tuition centre with dedicated and professional tutors. Fees are reasonable too. Admin service is always prompt and friendly. A huge thank you to Mr Bernard and Mr Ronnie. Highly recommended .
My daughter joined Mr. Calvin’s Maths class beginning of the year. His patience and encouragement made her feel seen, not judged—boosting her confidence! She made great improvements and ending with scoring AL1 in PSLE Maths. Thanks, Mr. Calvin, for making this positive experience.
Mr Bernard and Mr Lymon did a very good job in teaching my daughter Emath, Amath and Bio/Chem. She did very well in these subjects for her N levels. I am very appreciative for all that they have done for her. Thank you once again Mr Bernard and Mr Lymon. I would also like to thank Valerie for everything she had done for my daughter and I. We are very grateful. Thank you Brain Matter.

Brain Matter's specific per-session or monthly package rates are not publicly listed, so you will need to enquire directly for a current fee schedule. In the Singapore tuition market, group sessions typically range from S$30 to S$80 per hour depending on level and subject, while one-to-one tuition runs higher. Some centres charge by the term rather than per session. Ask whether there is a registration or enrolment fee, whether learning materials are included or billed separately, and whether sibling or package discounts apply. A trial class may carry a reduced or standard fee — confirm this when you enquire. See the full tuition centre cost guide for Singapore →
Many tuition centres in Singapore offer a trial class before you commit to a full term, and it is worth asking Brain Matter whether this is available for your child's level and subject. A trial session lets you assess whether the teaching pace and style suits your child, whether the class size feels appropriate, and whether the syllabus coverage matches your child's school curriculum. During the trial, observe whether the tutor explains concepts clearly, how questions are handled, and whether your child engages with the material. Use it as an opportunity to ask about homework expectations, test reviews, and how progress is tracked across the term.
Brain Matter's specific tutor qualifications — such as NIE or MOE teaching backgrounds, degree disciplines, or years of experience — are not detailed in the current listing. It is recommended that you ask directly when enquiring, particularly for subjects where syllabus alignment is critical, such as science practicals or mathematics at O-Level or A-Level. Key questions to raise include whether the tutor has prior MOE classroom experience, whether they are familiar with the current SEAB or MOE syllabus for your child's subject and year, and how long they have been teaching that level. For international curricula such as IB or IGCSE, confirm specific examiner or assessment familiarity.
