About Christina Ong Paediatric Gastroenterology Clinic

About Christina Ong Paediatric Gastroenterology Clinic

Christina Ong Paediatric Gastroenterology Clinic is a private specialist clinic located at Mount Elizabeth Novena Specialist Centre, offering paediatric gastroenterology services islandwide. The clinic has not yet been ACRA-verified on KakiList, and no regulatory licences have been confirmed in the listing data at this stage. It holds a Google rating of 4.6 out of 5 from 148 reviews, which represents a robust sample and provides a meaningful signal of patient experience.

Families typically access a private paediatric gastroenterologist either via a direct walk-in or self-referral (first specialist consultation typically S$120–250 at private clinics) or through a polyclinic or GP referral letter to a public hospital's Specialist Outpatient Clinic at a subsidised rate, though non-urgent public waiting times can run four to twelve weeks. A paediatric gastroenterologist addresses conditions including chronic abdominal pain, gastro-oesophageal reflux, constipation, inflammatory bowel disease, liver disorders, coeliac disease, failure to thrive, and feeding difficulties in infants and children. At the first consultation, the specialist will take a detailed history, review any prior investigations, and determine whether further diagnostics — such as blood panels, stool tests, ultrasound, or endoscopy — are warranted. For planned procedures, parents should request a written financial counselling estimate itemising insurance, MediSave, and out-of-pocket portions before proceeding.

To begin, contact the clinic directly by phone or via the enquiry form to schedule a first specialist consultation, and bring your child's growth charts, prior investigation results, and any referral letter from your GP or polyclinic.

Dr Christina Ong has been the paediatrician for all my three children, and we are very grateful to be under her care. She is patient, thorough, and always takes the time to listen and explain things clearly. As a parent, I feel reassured after every visit because she never rushes and genuinely cares about my children’s wellbeing. She is very gentle and calm with kids, which makes clinic visits much less stressful, and her advice has always been practical and helpful. The clinic staff are also friendly and professional. We trust Dr Ong completely and would highly recommend her to any parent looking for a caring and experienced paediatrician.

I am writing to share my disappointment regarding the experience we had at your clinic. We walked in to enquire about an appointment, fully understanding that the doctor may not have had any available slots. Unfortunately, the interaction with the receptionist was extremely unpleasant. The tone used to question us — particularly Miss “What happened to your child?” with full attitude — came across as rude and insensitive tone, like we have done some sin walking in without appointment. This is not an appropriate way to speak to parents who are already anxious about their child’s well-being. It would have been perfectly acceptable to simply inform us, politely, that there were no available slots. Instead, the lack of basic courtesy and professionalism left us very uncomfortable. No matter how good the doctor may be, the attitude and conduct of front-desk staff create the first impression of a clinic. Sadly, this experience has put us off entirely, and we would not consider visiting or recommending the clinic in the future. I strongly suggest that staff be given basic customer service and communication training, as empathy and politeness are essential in a healthcare setting.

Dr Ong has been my sons’ paediatrician for the past four years, and we are very grateful to have her. She is professional and takes a gentle, natural approach to treatment. She never forces decisions on us and always respects us as parents. Dr Ong genuinely loves children and consistently acts in the best interests of both the child and the family. I highly recommend her.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does Christina Ong Paediatric Gastroenterology Clinic charge?

Private specialist first consultations in Singapore typically run S$120–250, with follow-up visits at S$80–180. Investigations billed on top of the consultation commonly include blood panels (S$60–200), stool or breath tests, abdominal ultrasound (S$150–400), and, where clinically indicated, endoscopy or colonoscopy under sedation (S$2,000–5,000+ depending on anaesthesia class and hospital fees). GST applies on private medical services. For any planned procedure, the clinic should provide a written financial counselling estimate that splits insurance payout, MediSave deduction, and out-of-pocket portions before you proceed. Integrated Shield Plans layered on MediShield Life typically cover specialist consultations and day-surgery procedures subject to your plan's deductible, co-insurance, and rider structure — confirm pre-authorisation with your insurer before booking a procedure. Is Christina Ong Paediatric Gastroenterology Clinic MOH-licensed and how do I verify the doctor?

Every legitimate private specialist clinic must hold an MOH Healthcare Services Licence issued under the Healthcare Services Act — verifiable on the MOH licensee directory. Every practising doctor must appear on the Singapore Medical Council (SMC) public register at smc.gov.sg, where you can confirm their registration status, specialist accreditation in Paediatric Medicine or a recognised subspecialty, and any disciplinary history. For surgical or procedural specialisms such as paediatric endoscopy, a Royal College or Academy of Medicine Singapore fellowship (FRCS or FAMS) is the meaningful additional credential beyond basic SMC registration. No regulatory licences have been confirmed in this listing at present. Parents are strongly encouraged to verify the named doctor's SMC entry and the clinic's MOH licence directly before booking — both are mandatory for a legitimately operating private specialist clinic, and neither alone is sufficient. Verify the doctor's name on the Singapore Medical Council register and the clinic's MOH Healthcare Services Licence before booking, and for any planned procedure request a written financial counselling estimate that itemises insurance payout, MediSave deduction, and out-of-pocket portions before paying any deposit.

How do I use MediSave or insurance at Christina Ong Paediatric Gastroenterology Clinic?

Integrated Shield Plans (IPs) layered on MediShield Life cover most private specialist consultations, day surgery, and inpatient stays, subject to your plan's deductible, co-insurance, and rider rules. Confirm pre-authorisation and request a Letter of Guarantee from your insurer before any planned procedure — this avoids disputes after the fact and clarifies exactly what your insurer will pay. MediSave can be used for selected outpatient items under the MediSave 500/700 withdrawal limits (S$500 per year general outpatient; S$700 per year under the Chronic Disease Management Programme for listed chronic conditions). Separate MediSave limits apply for selected scans and outpatient procedures. For paediatric endoscopy or other day-surgery procedures, MediSave can typically be used towards the procedure and anaesthesia fees subject to the applicable withdrawal limits. For any planned procedure, request a financial counselling session — most private specialist centres will issue an itemised pre-treatment estimate splitting insurance, MediSave, and out-of-pocket portions in writing. Skipping this step is the most common reason families are surprised by the final bill.
