About CK Sim General Paediatric Surgery

About CK Sim General Paediatric Surgery

CK Sim General Paediatric Surgery is a paediatric surgical practice located at Mount Elizabeth Medical Centre (#12-04), covering patients islandwide. No regulatory licences are currently listed on this profile, and the practice has not been cross-checked against the ACRA business registry. The Google rating of 2.8 is based on only 4 reviews — too small a sample to be meaningful, and should not be used to judge the quality of care.

For families seeking a paediatric surgical consultation at a private specialist centre, the typical pathway is either a direct walk-in at the private rate (first specialist consultation S$120–250, self-pay) or a polyclinic or GP referral letter to a public hospital Specialist Outpatient Clinic (SOC), which carries a subsidised fee of S$30–80 for Singapore Citizens but involves a wait of several weeks. At the first consultation, the surgeon will review the child's presenting condition, order relevant diagnostics such as blood work, ultrasound, or imaging where indicated, and outline a management or surgical plan. For any planned procedure, a written financial counselling estimate — splitting the Integrated Shield Plan payout, MediSave deduction, and out-of-pocket portions — should be requested before proceeding.

To arrange a consultation, contact the practice directly by phone or via the enquiry form, and confirm the surgeon's name, SMC registration, and specialist accreditation in paediatric surgery before booking.

Dr Sim is a very experienced Dr who is technically strong. He is one of the two most senior surgeons in Urology Paediatric Surgery (the other one is Dr Cheah). My kid had a prior operation with KK which was a failure, so I went to Dr Sim for repair. The suture was neatly done and he kept the use of medication to the bare minimum (only antibiotics was used) but everything worked out fine. I appreciate the good judgements he made along the recovery phase, for that I consider him a very good doctor.

In my opinion this Doctor is not very skilled. He carried out operation for undescended testicle on my baby however even after operation I could see only one testicle downside. Upon asking him he said this is what he can do with it. He is not open to talk. Although charged thousands of dollars for operation we had to seek another surgeon for second opinion. I will never recommend this kind of doctor hence forth.

This doctor is not recommended. We went in for a consultation to remove our baby's skin tag. Not much was explained and she was dragged across the table by him during examination. Poor bedside manners from the doctor. Please refer to previous reviews before making a decision to see this doctor. Disappointing visit.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does CK Sim General Paediatric Surgery charge?

For a private specialist first consultation in paediatric surgery at Mount Elizabeth Medical Centre, the typical range is S$120–250, with follow-up consultations at S$80–180. These are self-pay rates without a referral letter; a polyclinic or GP referral to a public hospital SOC would reduce the fee to roughly S$30–80 for Singapore Citizens, though non-urgent wait times of 4–12 weeks apply. Costs billed on top of the consultation typically include investigations such as blood panels (S$60–200), ultrasound (S$150–400), or CT/MRI (S$400–1,800), plus any day surgery or procedure fees (S$3,000–25,000+ depending on the procedure and ward class). GST applies on private medical services. For any planned operation, request a written financial counselling estimate that itemises the insurance payout, MediSave deduction, and out-of-pocket portion before agreeing to proceed. Is CK Sim General Paediatric Surgery MOH-licensed and how do I verify the doctor?

No MOH Healthcare Services Licence or Singapore Medical Council (SMC) registration is currently listed on this profile, so independent verification is essential before booking. Every legitimate private specialist clinic must hold an MOH Healthcare Services Licence under the Healthcare Services Act — verifiable on the MOH licensee directory — and every practising doctor must appear on the SMC public register at smc.gov.sg, where you can confirm registration status, specialist accreditation in paediatric surgery, and any disciplinary history. For paediatric surgical specialisms, a Royal College or Academy of Medicine Singapore fellowship (FRCS or FAMS) is the meaningful additional credential beyond basic SMC registration. Confirm both the clinic's MOH licence and the named surgeon's SMC entry before your child's first appointment.

How do I use MediSave or insurance at CK Sim General Paediatric Surgery?

Integrated Shield Plans (IPs) layered on MediShield Life cover most private specialist consultations, day surgery, and inpatient stays, subject to each plan's deductible, co-insurance, and rider rules. For any planned paediatric procedure, request pre-authorisation and a Letter of Guarantee from your insurer before the operation to avoid claim disputes afterwards. MediSave can be used for selected outpatient items under the MediSave 500/700 withdrawal limits (S$500/year general outpatient, S$700/year under the Chronic Disease Management Programme for listed chronic conditions). Separate MediSave limits apply for selected scans and outpatient cancer treatment. Before any procedure, ask the clinic for a written financial counselling estimate that splits the insurance payout, MediSave deduction, and out-of-pocket portions clearly — this is the single most effective way to avoid a surprise bill.
