About DP Dental Katong

About DP Dental Katong

DP Dental Katong is a dental clinic located at Katong Point on Joo Chiat Road, listed under Healthcare on KakiList and serving patients across Singapore. The clinic holds a 4.7-star rating across 137 Google reviews, which represents a robust sample and provides a reliable indication of patient experience. Pricing is indicated at the mid-range tier; specific fee schedules were not provided and should be confirmed directly with the clinic.

Patients typically begin by contacting the clinic by phone or through the online enquiry form to check appointment availability and confirm whether the dentist's scope covers their presenting concern — routine examination and cleaning, restorative work, orthodontics, or paediatric dental care. A first consultation will include a clinical examination and, where indicated, dental radiographs; the dentist will then outline a treatment plan with associated costs before proceeding. For planned procedures, ask for a written cost estimate that separates MediSave-claimable items from out-of-pocket charges. MediSave can be used for specific dental procedures such as surgical extractions and certain oral surgery under the MediSave withdrawal limits; routine scaling and examination are generally not MediSave-claimable. Patients with Integrated Shield Plans should confirm whether their policy extends to dental, as most IP policies cover hospitalisation rather than outpatient dental.

To make an appointment, contact DP Dental Katong directly by phone or via the enquiry form on their listing and confirm availability for your preferred date and procedure type before attending.

We had a wonderful experience with Dr Dan. He was incredibly patient, kind, and gentle with my child, which made a huge difference as my little one was quite anxious at first. Dr Dan took the time to explain every step of the check-up and cleaning process in a calm and reassuring way, helping my child feel comfortable, safe, and at ease. I really appreciated how thorough and detailed he was, while still being very gentle and attentive. He didn’t rush the appointment and made sure both my child and I understood everything clearly. The level of care, professionalism, and service was truly exceptional. Highly recommend Dr Dan, especially for parents looking for a dentist who is fantastic with kids!

Overall a really good experience. Booking process and discussion through WhatsApp was smooth and easy, when we got there we were warmly welcome and they even had a small play area which our 1 year old enjoyed. Dr Dan was extremely professional and friendly. The check up was extremely comprehensive with very clear guidance on what to lookout for to maintain good oral hygiene. The price might be a little steep compared to most other clinics but I feel the value you get is justifiable. We’ll be back!

I've always had a fear of dentists growing up because my experience has been that the dentist scolds you and your whole mouth hurts. I'm thankful to have found DP Dental where it's not like that at all! Dr Dan took the time to learn about my dental history and health, and explain to me lots of things that I didn't know before that affected not only my oral health but also things like breathing and sleep. The price was steep but for such gentle and comprehensive services, I would go back again. Thank you Dr Dan, Ms YY and Ms Laura!

My first visits there went great, until the last descaling I had made my gum bleed for a week (first time it ever happened to me, I found this dentist quite brutal compared with my previous experiences). I have also been waiting for my X-rays for weeks, despite multiple chase ups. Quite disappointing because everything started great!

Dr Yao is really patient and good with kids. She takes time to explain to us how to take care of our children’s teeth and is generous to share various tips with us. We have been seeing her for my boy’s teeth since he was 1 years old and will definitely continue to visit her for his dental needs. Highly recommend for anybody who is looking for a trustworthy dentist for their children!

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does DP Dental Katong charge?

Dental fees vary by procedure. In Singapore, a routine scaling and polishing at a private dental clinic typically costs S$80–150, a basic filling S$100–200, a tooth extraction S$80–300 (surgical extractions up to S$600–1,200), and orthodontic treatment S$3,500–8,000+ depending on the appliance type. First consultation or examination fees typically run S$50–100 at a private clinic, with dental radiographs billed separately at S$20–80 per film. For planned procedures, request a written cost breakdown before proceeding. Some dental procedures — primarily surgical extractions and certain oral surgery — are MediSave-claimable under the MediSave withdrawal limits (up to S$1,250 per procedure for selected oral surgery). Routine cleaning and examination are not MediSave-claimable. GST applies on private dental services. See the full paediatric dental cost guide for Singapore →

Is DP Dental Katong MOH-licensed and how do I verify the dentist?

Every legitimate dental clinic operating in Singapore must hold an MOH Healthcare Services Licence under the Healthcare Services Act, and every practising dentist must be registered with the Singapore Dental Council (SDC) — the dental equivalent of the SMC register, verifiable at dentalcouncil.gov.sg. No regulatory licences were recorded on this listing at the time of publication, which means verification could not be completed from the available data alone. Before booking, confirm the clinic's MOH Healthcare Services Licence directly with the clinic or on the MOH licensee directory, and search the named dentist's registration on the SDC public register. For specialist dental procedures — paediatric dentistry, orthodontics, oral surgery, periodontics, or prosthodontics — confirm whether the dentist holds a recognised specialist accreditation with the SDC, as general dental practitioners and registered specialists operate under different scopes of practice.

How do I use MediSave or insurance at DP Dental Katong?

Most outpatient dental treatment — routine scaling, fillings, crowns, bridges, and standard extractions — is not claimable under MediSave or Integrated Shield Plans. MediSave withdrawal for dental is limited to specific procedures: surgical extraction of impacted teeth, dental implants (subject to conditions), and certain other oral surgical procedures under the MediSave Dental Withdrawal scheme, up to S$1,250 per procedure per year from your own account. If you hold a Integrated Shield Plan, check your policy document carefully — most IP policies cover inpatient and day-surgery hospitalisation, and dental is typically excluded unless the treatment arises from an accident and requires hospitalisation. For any planned procedure where MediSave is applicable, request a written financial counselling estimate from the clinic that separates the MediSave-claimable portion, any insurer payout, and the out-of-pocket balance before consenting to treatment.
