About Dr Chui Chan Hon Surgery Centre for Children
Dr Chui Chan Hon Surgery Centre for Children is a private paediatric surgery practice located at Mount Elizabeth Medical Centre in Orchard, serving patients islandwide. KakiList has verified the operating details and contact channel. The practice holds a 5/5 rating across 12 Google reviews; this is a small sample and should be treated as directional only rather than a statistically robust signal. No regulatory licences were provided at the time of listing, so parents are encouraged to confirm the clinic's MOH Healthcare Services Licence and the surgeon's Singapore Medical Council registration directly.
For a first consultation, parents typically contact the practice by phone or through the enquiry form to describe the presenting condition — whether a surgical referral from a GP or polyclinic, a developmental concern, or a specialist second opinion. A first private specialist consultation in paediatric surgery typically costs S$120–250. The surgeon will review the child's history, order relevant investigations such as blood work, ultrasound, or imaging where indicated, and outline a management or surgical plan. Parents should confirm whether a polyclinic or GP referral letter has been issued, as this determines the referral pathway and may affect insurance pre-authorisation. For any planned procedure, request a written financial counselling estimate that itemises the MediSave deduction, Integrated Shield Plan payout, and out-of-pocket portion before proceeding.

Dr. Chui and his staff (Pearlyn etc) are amazing! We had an emergency situation and he got us through it so efficiently and caringly, while still making sure we had the time to heal. They are great at understanding the needs, care requirements and emotions of children. The surgery was also done expertly. If you end up with Dr. Chui and this centre, you will be in the best of hands.
Best decision ever! Dr. Chiu was very gentle, reassuring and you can see his passion on what he is doing… he really take time to explain to me everything that i needed to know.. usually to see a doctor for my son is super chaotic but our appointment with him is smooth and less scary because he tend to play with his patients and make them comfortable. 5 start is not enough..superb team especially nurse Sarah..
We went to Dr. Chui at the Surgery Centre for Children for my 9-year-old child's surgery and it was the best decision. I cannot recommend him highly enough. From the moment we arrived for consultation, the staff was welcoming and attentive, which immediately put my son and me at ease. Dr. Chui was exceptional in his approach, taking the time to explain the procedure in a way that my son could understand. He was patient, thorough, and genuinely caring, answering all of our questions and addressing our concerns with compassion and clarity. The surgery itself, I thought, went remarkably smoothly, and Dr. Chui's expertise was evident. The precision and skills made for a quick recovery, allowing my son to get back to his usual activities quickly. Post-operative care instructions were clear and easy to follow, making the transition back to home seamless. The admin assistant from the Clinic was very helpful! What stood out the most was how Dr. Chui and his team treated us. They were patient, attentive and clear throughout their communication. This made us, confident and calmer as parents. Their professionalism and kindness made a potentially stressful experience much more manageable. If you are looking for a skilled and compassionate surgeon for your child, I highly recommend Dr. Chui. Thank you, Dr. Chui and the team from Surgery Centre For Children, for your excellent care!
Fantastic team here. We visited Dr Chan when my daughter had stomach pain and they were fantastic. Dr Chan patiently explained to my daughter how it all works and what was going on. He answered all my questions patiently and told us next steps. I also give kudos to Ms Evelyn at the front desk whose follow up and assistance is highly commendable. She made sure we had everything before we left and made multiple calls to make sure we had the reports. Highly impressed with the entire service!
Our 3-week-old baby was admitted to A&E and Dr Chui Chan Hon was assigned to our case. From the start, Dr Chui was reassuring and great at explaining the possible hypotheses for his condition, and diagnostics that would be required. He was very experienced and all the procedures were carried out efficiently. Baby even slept through one of the procedures, so it wasn’t too uncomfortable I guess. His nurse Sara was also great at explaining the after care require at home in detail, step by step. Throughout the whole process, we felt that we were in very good hands, and would recommend Dr Chui to anyone seeking an experienced, knowledgeable, and reassuring Pediatric Surgeon for their tiny one. We’ve heard from other medical staff that Dr Chui is highly regarded in the region, and it’s easy to see why!

First specialist consultations at private paediatric surgery practices in Singapore typically run S$120–250, with follow-up reviews at S$80–180. Parents who hold a polyclinic or GP referral letter and are seen at a public hospital Specialist Outpatient Clinic (SOC) may pay S$30–80 after subsidy, though non-urgent waits of 4–12 weeks are common via that pathway. On top of the consultation, common additional charges include investigations such as blood panels (S$60–200), ultrasound (S$150–400), and X-rays (S$80–150), as well as any surgical procedure costs (S$3,000–25,000+ for day surgery or inpatient procedures depending on complexity and ward class). GST applies on private medical services. For any planned procedure, ask for a written financial counselling estimate that splits the insurance payout, MediSave deduction, and out-of-pocket portion before paying any deposit. Every legitimate clinic must hold an MOH Healthcare Services Licence under the Healthcare Services Act — verifiable on the MOH licensee directory at moh.gov.sg. Every practising doctor must also be listed on the Singapore Medical Council (SMC) public register at smc.gov.sg; search by name to confirm registration status, specialist accreditation (in this case, paediatric surgery), and any disciplinary history. No regulatory licences were supplied in this listing at the time of publication. Parents should confirm both the MOH clinic licence and the named surgeon's SMC specialist accreditation directly with the practice before booking. For a surgical specialist, a Royal College fellowship (FRCS) or Fellowship of the Academy of Medicine Singapore (FAMS) in the relevant surgical discipline is the meaningful additional credential beyond basic SMC registration. Verify both before committing to a consultation or planned procedure.
Integrated Shield Plans (IPs), layered on MediShield Life, cover most private specialist consultations, day surgery, and inpatient stays subject to your plan's deductible, co-insurance, and rider rules. For any planned procedure, obtain pre-authorisation and a Letter of Guarantee from your IP insurer before the procedure date to avoid claim disputes after the fact. MediSave can be used for selected outpatient items under the S$500/year general outpatient withdrawal limit and S$700/year under the Chronic Disease Management Programme (CDMP). Separate MediSave limits apply for outpatient cancer treatment and selected scans. For paediatric surgical procedures, request a financial counselling session at the clinic — the practice should provide an itemised pre-treatment estimate showing the insurance payout, MediSave deduction, and out-of-pocket portions in writing. Skipping the financial counselling step is the most common reason families are surprised by their final bill.
