Parents bringing a child to a private paediatric clinic for the first time typically book a consultation for a presenting concern — fever, respiratory illness, rash, feeding difficulties, developmental query, or a routine well-child check — or to align with the National Childhood Immunisation Programme (NIP) schedule, which runs from birth through to the pre-school years. A private specialist first consultation at a practice of this type typically costs S$120–250, with follow-up reviews lower. Investigations such as blood panels, throat swabs, or urine tests are billed on top. Integrated Shield Plans layered on MediShield Life may partially cover specialist consultations and any resulting day procedures, subject to the plan's deductible and co-insurance rules; confirm pre-authorisation with your insurer for planned visits. MediSave can be used under the S$700 Chronic Disease Management Programme (CDMP) withdrawal limit for listed paediatric chronic conditions.

To make an appointment, contact the clinic directly by phone. Before your visit, confirm the consulting doctor's name and verify their registration on the Singapore Medical Council (SMC) public register at smc.gov.sg. For any planned procedure, request a written financial counselling estimate that itemises insurance payout, MediSave deduction, and out-of-pocket portions before proceeding.

Dr. Keoy is such a gem! Every time I take my son to see him, I leave feeling so grateful—we’re so lucky to have him! I moved to Singapore just two months before my due date, and even before arriving, I had asked a colleague, whose mom has been working at TMC for more than 20 years, to recommend an obstetrician and a pediatrician. My colleague recommended two pediatricians: one was a female doctor, who was described as being very kind and motherly, and the other was Dr. Keoy. When I asked which doctor was more skilled, my colleague said Dr. Keoy was better. So, even though I hadn’t met him yet, I decided to go with Dr. Keoy. I still remember the first time I met Dr. Keoy—it was in a ward at Thomson Medical Centre. He was wearing a polo shirt, which caught my attention because my husband is a huge polo shirt fan too! Fast forward to now—my son is in Primary 1. Over the years, I’ve tried a few other pediatric clinics, mostly because Dr. Keoy’s clinic doesn’t work with any insurance plans. For example, we went to Dr. Christina at Mount Elizabeth for a while. Her clinic is definitely fancy, with a big TV in the waiting area and all. But the wait times were crazy long, and they kept asking for blood tests and prescribing lots of meds (even though insurance covered it, it wasn’t easy on my kid). What really annoyed me was finding out yesterday that they NEVER UPLOADED RECORDS for two vaccines my son got there! Meanwhile, every single vaccine record for my son has been properly uploaded by Dr. Keoy’s clinic. One time, my son accidentally punctured his ear while playing with a cotton swab. Dr. Keoy not only checked it for free but also recommended a fantastic ENT specialist. Back in the day, if my son got sick on a holiday, I’d rush to KK’s emergency department. But now, I’d rather wait through the night for Dr. Keoy’s clinic to open because I feel so much more at ease knowing my son is in his hands. What I really want to say is this: Dr. Keoy’s clinic might not have all the fancy decor, big TVs, or snacks in the waiting room, but his professionalism and care are truly unbeatable. You can trust him 100%. He’s not super chatty or the kind to engage in small talk, but he always takes the time to patiently answer your questions. His diagnoses are spot on, and he only prescribes what’s necessary—no unnecessary tests or over-treatment. He genuinely cares about his patients and not about making extra money. On top of that, his prices are reasonable and sometimes even cheaper (at least compared to what I’ve paid for vaccines and probiotics elsewhere). The trust we have in Dr. Keoy is built on years of care and experience. I honestly hope his clinic keeps going strong for many, many years. Thank you so much, Dr. Keoy—YOU ARE THE BEST!!!

Dr Keoy was my baby son's paediatrician at Thomson Medical Centre. He is clear and concise when conveying information to the parents. We went to his clinic for one follow-up and he was detailed in examining and answering our queries. The waiting time was short even on Saturday. Most importantly, he was very considerate and referred us to a polyclinic for jaundice follow-up voluntarily, without pressurising us to go back to his clinic. The staff at the clinic was friendly as well.

How do I use MediSave or insurance at Dr Shaun Thompson Novena Children Clinic?

Integrated Shield Plans (IPs) layered on MediShield Life can cover private specialist consultations, day surgery, and inpatient stays subject to the plan's deductible, co-insurance, and rider rules. For any planned procedure, obtain a Letter of Guarantee from your IP insurer before the appointment to avoid claim disputes after the fact. Confirm pre-authorisation requirements with your insurer, as some policies require a GP or polyclinic referral letter to activate specialist coverage. MediSave withdrawals for outpatient paediatric visits are limited to S$500 per year for general outpatient use, rising to S$700 per year under the Chronic Disease Management Programme (CDMP) for listed chronic conditions such as asthma. For any planned procedure, ask the clinic for a written financial counselling estimate that itemises the insurance payout, MediSave deduction, and out-of-pocket portions in advance — this is the most reliable way to avoid a surprise final bill.
