About Dr Sim Chiang Khi Paediatric Surgery Urology

About Dr Sim Chiang Khi Paediatric Surgery Urology

Dr Sim Chiang Khi Paediatric Surgery Urology is a paediatric surgical and urological practice based at Mount Elizabeth Medical Centre, serving patients islandwide. KakiList has verified the operating details and contact channels. No regulatory licence details are currently held on file for this listing.

As a private specialist practice, a first consultation is typically self-funded or claimed through an Integrated Shield Plan layered on MediShield Life, subject to your plan's deductible, co-insurance, and rider rules. For paediatric surgical and urological concerns, the referral pathway matters: a polyclinic or GP referral letter to a public hospital's specialist outpatient clinic carries a subsidised fee of roughly S$30–80 for Singapore Citizens, though non-urgent waiting times can run four to twelve weeks. A direct walk-in to a private specialist such as this clinic typically costs S$120–250 for a first consultation and is seen within days. For planned procedures, you should request a written financial counselling estimate itemising insurance payout, MediSave deduction, and out-of-pocket portions before committing.

To make an appointment, contact the clinic directly by phone or through the enquiry form, confirm the consulting doctor's Singapore Medical Council registration and specialist accreditation in Paediatric Surgery before booking, and bring any referral letters, previous investigation results, and your child's immunisation records to the first visit.

Dr Sim is a very experienced Dr who is technically strong. He is one of the two most senior surgeons in Urology Paediatric Surgery (the other one is Dr Cheah). My kid had a prior operation with KK which was a failure, so I went to Dr Sim for repair. The suture was neatly done and he kept the use of medication to the bare minimum (only antibiotics was used) but everything worked out fine. I appreciate the good judgements he made along the recovery phase, for that I consider him a very good doctor.

In my opinion this Doctor is not very skilled. He carried out operation for undescended testicle on my baby however even after operation I could see only one testicle downside. Upon asking him he said this is what he can do with it. He is not open to talk. Although charged thousands of dollars for operation we had to seek another surgeon for second opinion. I will never recommend this kind of doctor hence forth.

This doctor is not recommended. We went in for a consultation to remove our baby's skin tag. Not much was explained and she was dragged across the table by him during examination. Poor bedside manners from the doctor. Please refer to previous reviews before making a decision to see this doctor. Disappointing visit.

How much does Dr Sim Chiang Khi Paediatric Surgery Urology charge?

As a private specialist practice, a first consultation typically costs S$120–250, with follow-up visits at S$80–180. Investigations ordered on the same visit are billed separately: blood panels run S$60–200, X-rays S$80–150, ultrasound S$150–400, and more complex imaging such as CT or MRI S$400–1,800. Paediatric surgical procedures carried out as day surgery or inpatient admissions range from S$3,000 to S$25,000 or more depending on the procedure and ward class. Is Dr Sim Chiang Khi Paediatric Surgery Urology MOH-licensed and how do I verify the doctor?

Every legitimate private specialist clinic must hold an MOH Healthcare Services Licence issued under the Healthcare Services Act — verifiable on the MOH licensee directory. No licence details are currently recorded in this listing, so you should ask the clinic directly for the licence number and verify it before booking. Every practising doctor in Singapore is listed on the Singapore Medical Council (SMC) public register at smc.gov.sg — search by the doctor's name to confirm registration status, specialist accreditation in Paediatric Surgery, and any disciplinary history. For a surgical specialism, a Royal College fellowship (FRCS) or Academy of Medicine Singapore fellowship (FAMS) in Paediatric Surgery is the meaningful additional credential. Confirm both the clinic's MOH licence and the named doctor's SMC entry before your first appointment.

How do I use MediSave or insurance at Dr Sim Chiang Khi Paediatric Surgery Urology?

Integrated Shield Plans (IPs) layered on MediShield Life can cover private specialist consultations, day surgery, and inpatient admissions subject to your plan's deductible, co-insurance, and rider rules. For any planned paediatric surgical or urological procedure, obtain a Letter of Guarantee from your IP insurer before admission to avoid claim disputes after the fact. MediSave can be used for selected outpatient items within the S$500 general outpatient or S$700 Chronic Disease Management Programme withdrawal limits per year. For planned procedures, request a financial counselling session at the clinic — the estimate should itemise the full procedure cost split across insurance payout, MediSave deduction, and out-of-pocket portions in writing. This step is the most effective way to avoid surprise bills. If your child's condition qualifies under a CDMP-listed diagnosis, confirm coverage with your insurer before the consultation.
