About Dr Tabitha Chng My First Dentist

About Dr Tabitha Chng My First Dentist

Dr Tabitha Chng My First Dentist is a paediatric dental practice located at Royal Square Medical Centre in Novena, serving patients islandwide. The practice holds a 4.6-star rating across 86 Google reviews, a moderate sample that suggests consistent patient experience. No regulatory licences are listed in the provider data, and the practice is not confirmed as ACRA-registered on this listing, so prospective patients are encouraged to verify credentials directly before booking.

A first visit to a paediatric dental clinic typically begins with the parent sharing the child's dental history, any anxieties, and specific concerns such as tooth decay, misalignment, or trauma. The dentist will conduct an oral examination and, where appropriate, request X-rays to assess developing teeth and jaw structure. Paediatric dentists are trained to manage the behaviour and comfort of young patients, from toddlers attending their first check-up through to adolescents requiring more complex treatment. Common procedures include fluoride application, fissure sealants, fillings, and extractions, with treatment plans communicated clearly to parents before any work proceeds. For planned procedures, a written financial counselling estimate that separates insurance, MediSave, and out-of-pocket costs should be requested in advance; dental day surgery may attract MediSave claims subject to applicable withdrawal limits.

Contact the practice directly via phone or the enquiry form to confirm appointment availability, the dentist's Singapore Dental Council registration, and to request a financial estimate for any planned treatment before committing.

My son has been visiting My First Dentist for a year now and Dr Doris is my son’s very first dentist. Dr Doris and her team is fantastic with kids! They make sure kids don’t feel overwhelmed, nervous, scared or have trauma’s of visiting a dentist again. The way Dr Doris talks playfully with the children and always having a smile on her face makes both kids and parents feel at ease and trusted. I feel we are in good hands everytime we come for our check ups. They give coins for children to redeem a toy as a reward after the treatment is over which my son always looks forward to. They are super timely which makes our visit very smooth. Make sure to book your appointments really early in advance as they are usually fully booked for weeks.

Dr. Tabitha was amazing with my son’s tongue tie procedure. She’s extremely knowledgeable, gentle, and took the time to explain everything clearly, which really put us at ease. The procedure went smoothly and the aftercare guidance was very thorough. You can tell she truly cares about her patients. The only downside is the long wait list — but honestly, it’s worth it for the quality of care she provides. Highly recommend!

Brought my 2.5yo toddler to his first dental visit today. As he is usually quite wary in new environment, I really appreciate how gentle and caring the staff is with him, from the dentist (Dr Doris Chua) to the dental assistant at the start when taking his height and weight. Dr Doris Chua is also v clear and concise in her explanation to us on how to care for our toddler’s hygiene, and the type of toothbrush and toothpaste to go for. Very pleased with how the first visit turned out - some resistance from our boy during the check (as expected) but he walked out smiling and looking forward to the next visit!

I personally have feared visiting dentists as I did not have a good childhood dental experience. Because of this, I want to ensure that my kids have good experience each time they’re at the dentist. We’ve been visiting The First Dentist since my firstborn was 1 and every 6 months since. Every experience has been great- everyone in the clinic is nice and friendly. They are especially great with children and their professionalism is commendable!!

Highly highly recommend Dr Tabitha! We visited her regarding my baby’s tongue and lip ties. After the procedure, as my baby had some discomfort, she was helpful in following up with us and provided advice and support. When we had other queries on the healing process, Dr Tabitha was also there to address them and reassure us. It is evident that she truly cares for her patients!

Is Dr Tabitha Chng My First Dentist MOH-licensed and how do I verify the dentist?

Every legitimate dental clinic must hold an MOH Healthcare Services Licence under the Healthcare Services Act, and every practising dentist must be registered with the Singapore Dental Council (SDC) — verifiable at sdc.gov.sg by searching the dentist's name. Paediatric dental specialists additionally hold a specialist accreditation in Paediatric Dentistry on the SDC register, which distinguishes them from general dentists who see children. No regulatory licences are listed in this provider's KakiList data, so patients should verify both the clinic's MOH licence and the named dentist's SDC registration directly before booking. Neither credential alone is sufficient — confirm both. The practice is also not confirmed as ACRA-registered on this listing. Verify the doctor's name on the Singapore Dental Council register and the clinic's MOH Healthcare Services Licence before booking, and for any planned procedure request a written financial counselling estimate that itemises insurance payout, MediSave deduction, and out-of-pocket portions before paying any deposit.

How do I use MediSave or insurance at Dr Tabitha Chng My First Dentist?

Routine dental consultations and check-ups are generally not claimable under MediSave or MediShield Life. However, certain dental day surgery procedures — such as surgical extractions performed under general anaesthesia in a licensed day-surgery or hospital setting — may qualify for MediSave withdrawal subject to MOH-approved limits. Confirm eligibility with the clinic before any planned procedure. Integrated Shield Plans (IPs) layered on MediShield Life may cover dental procedures performed as part of a hospitalisation episode, but typically do not extend to outpatient dental visits at a clinic. Check your insurer's policy schedule carefully. For planned procedures, request a pre-treatment financial counselling session so that the clinic can issue an itemised estimate splitting any insurance payout, MediSave deduction, and out-of-pocket cost in writing before you commit — this is the most reliable way to avoid an unexpected bill.
