About Dr Tay Guan Tzu Children Bone Clinic P-Ortho

About Dr Tay Guan Tzu Children Bone Clinic P-Ortho

Dr Tay Guan Tzu Children Bone Clinic P-Ortho is a paediatric orthopaedic specialist practice located at Mount Alvernia Hospital Medical Centre A on Thomson Road. The clinic is KakiList-verified, with a 4.9/5 rating across 97 Google reviews — a moderately robust sample that suggests consistent patient experience. No regulatory licences are currently listed in the directory record, so prospective patients are advised to confirm the clinic's MOH Healthcare Services Licence and the named doctor's SMC registration directly before booking.

Families typically begin with a direct specialist consultation — paediatric orthopaedic cases commonly include limb deformities, flat feet, scoliosis, fractures, growth-plate injuries, and musculoskeletal conditions in children from infancy through adolescence. At the first appointment, the doctor will review the child's history and presenting complaint, order relevant investigations where indicated (X-ray, MRI, or ultrasound depending on the condition), and discuss a management plan that may range from watchful waiting and physiotherapy referral through to surgical intervention. Mount Alvernia Hospital provides day-surgery and inpatient facilities on the same campus, which is relevant for families whose child may require an operative procedure. Bring any existing imaging, referral letters, and the child's vaccination and medical history to the first visit.

To arrange a consultation, contact the clinic via WhatsApp, phone, or the online enquiry form, confirm current appointment availability, and ask for a written financial counselling estimate that itemises the consultation fee, any planned investigations, and — if a procedure is likely — the MediSave, insurance, and out-of-pocket split before committing.

Dr Lam is very patient and highly knowledgeable in his area of specialty. He always takes the time to thoroughly explain my son’s condition to us and my parents in Mandarin, which we really appreciate. The clinic assistants are also very welcoming and friendly. The only slight inconvenience is that I have to remind the clinic assistants before each appointment with Dr Lam to send the referral form to Mount A’s radiology department before my son can undergo his ultrasound or X-ray. Aside from this, our overall experience at the clinic has always b

I dislocated my knee recently and it was quite scary but I’m glad I went to Bone Island. Dr Lam was very patient and took time to explain everything clearly, like the recovery process, surgery risks (as my condition was quite serious) and how to take care of my leg after it heals. He’s very kind and honest and made me feel comfortable every visit. The clinic staff were also very nice and friendly. I had a very good experience and I’m very grateful for their help. I would definitely recommend this clinic. :)

After seeing Dr Lam and his team, and with the recommendations of physio sessions,U daughter's knee condition is definitely improving. Thank you Dr Lam.

Dr Lam needs no introduction or review in the field of pediatric orthopedic medicine. As a doctor I had only heard good things about him, and personally when I needed help for my child- he definitely outshone my expectations. Besides being academically brilliant, he is extremely good with kids (mine was a toddler who didn’t cry at all throughout his examination), excellent in bedside manners, and follows a good balance at being neither too conservative or too aggressive. Would highly recommend him.

Dr. Lam is kind, warm, and puts kids at ease. He explains every step clearly and specifies do/donts, leaving you with a clear understanding of how to support your child. The gentlemen who put on the cast/remove are fun, warm, and do things quickly so that there is no room for the kids’ anxiety to grow. Overall, I highly recommend Dr. Lam and his clinic.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does Dr Tay Guan Tzu Children Bone Clinic P-Ortho charge?

Private specialist first consultations in Singapore typically run S$120–250, with follow-up reviews at S$80–180. Paediatric orthopaedic consultations may also involve investigations billed on top: X-rays S$80–150, MRI S$400–1,200, blood panels S$60–200. If a surgical procedure is planned, costs vary widely by procedure type and hospital class — day surgery for common paediatric orthopaedic cases (e.g. minor soft-tissue or growth-plate work) typically runs S$3,000–15,000+ before insurance and MediSave are applied. GST applies on private medical services. For any planned procedure, request a written financial counselling estimate from the clinic that clearly splits the Integrated Shield Plan (IP) payout, MediSave deduction, and out-of-pocket amount before paying any deposit. Is Dr Tay Guan Tzu Children Bone Clinic P-Ortho MOH-licensed and how do I verify the doctor?

Every legitimate clinic in Singapore holds an MOH Healthcare Services Licence issued under the Healthcare Services Act — verifiable on the MOH licensee directory. Every practising doctor is registered with the Singapore Medical Council (SMC) and searchable by name at smc.gov.sg, where you can confirm registration status, specialist accreditation in Orthopaedic Surgery or Paediatric Medicine, and any disciplinary history. For a paediatric orthopaedic specialist, a Royal College fellowship (FRCS Orthopaedics) or FAMS (Academy of Medicine Singapore) accreditation is the meaningful additional credential beyond basic SMC registration. No licences are currently listed in this directory record for the clinic. Confirm both the clinic's MOH Healthcare Services Licence and the named doctor's SMC entry directly with the clinic before booking — neither alone is sufficient, and both are publicly verifiable at no cost.

How do I use MediSave or insurance at Dr Tay Guan Tzu Children Bone Clinic P-Ortho?

Integrated Shield Plans (IPs) layered on MediShield Life cover most private specialist consultations, day surgery, and inpatient stays at Mount Alvernia Hospital, subject to your plan's deductible, co-insurance, and rider terms. Confirm pre-authorisation and obtain a Letter of Guarantee from your insurer before any planned procedure to avoid claim disputes after the fact. MediSave can be used for selected outpatient items under the S$500/700 Chronic Disease Management Programme (CDMP) withdrawal limits, and for approved surgical procedures under MediSave surgical benefits — paediatric orthopaedic surgeries are generally MediSave-claimable up to the scheduled benefit amount for the relevant procedure code. Request a financial counselling session at the clinic before any procedure; the clinic should provide an itemised pre-treatment estimate splitting insurance payout, MediSave deduction, and your out-of-pocket portion in writing. Skipping this step is the most common reason families are surprised by their final bill.
