My experience with Dr Teng was unlike what the previous reviewer described. Dr Teng was very patient and allowed my child ample time to get comfortable in order to express herself. This is a breath of fresh air. There are local psychiatrists who rush through the whole process and practise in an overly prescriptive and paternalistic manner. Dr Teng's well-paced and collaborative approach is more in line with my experience overseas. I'm glad my child is finally getting the care she needs.

quite disappointed by dr teng jia ying's expensive but non-productive session, as well as her nurse's lack of professionalism. it turned out we spent nearly 500$ but got no info useful and didn't feel helped at all. dr teng definitely has high qualification and background, but she seems to be too commercialized and not proactive in helping patients. it is very easy for a patient to start to tell his feelings and experiences with not much aim. I would think a good doc should guide the patient in providing useful info to facilitate her diagnosis, by asking meaningful questions and provide useful info, however to our disappointment she took no initiative in guiding us at all. she just let us talk and has given no professional opinions during the process. in the end what we got is more like a counsellor service. we feel the whole session is just for her to listen to us. in the middle of it i already felt the visit is quite useless, so i started to ask her questions such as how we should treat patient with such symptoms, thinking since we visited a professional, it would only make sense if we have some guidance/info, if she is not taking initiative maybe i should. however, the answers she gave was very general, to the extent that I have already known almost all of them before my visit just by googling. dr teng also doesn't seem to be caring enough. she seems to be treating her job just as a routine listening/talking, without carefully noticing patient's different needs and trying to proactively help each one in different ways. -- esp. for her expensive charge, what she did made us feel not worth the price at all. the worst thing in her clinic is from her nurse. while we were waiting, her nurse started to chat on phone with someone who she seemingly knows personally. she covered up her mouth and talked in low voices but since the clinic is very quiet we still heard some. it seemed to us she was talking about a patient they both knew and she was talking about how his behavior/condition was very poor and unacceptable, "aiyo, cannot even..." (didn't hear actual words). i can't say her tone is mean, but clearly she was talking about patients behind their back and in a gossipy tone. due to the above reasons, i don't recommend anyone to go to this clinic. overall very poor experience, waste of money and time.
