A menu tasting before signing is standard practice for orders above a minimum value and is worth requesting.

This is the 2nd time we engaged Elsie's Kitchen for CNY. Never let us down in terms of customer service, setting up staff and their food quality. This year, the setting & decorations were another level up. Children were so excited to see a lion head and can't help playing with it. Food wise, Ee-fu noodles are our fav. The other CNY dishes were equally yummy too, especially the Barrumundi fish and typhoon prawns were super fresh! Overall, all my guests enjoyed the food very much. Thanks. 🍊🍊

Overall, the buffet was above average, and I would consider ordering from them again for my next event. There were some hits and misses. The lamb shank was a bit tough. The fried seafood mee sua was slightly dry. While, the ampang Yong tau foo was salty. However, the Indo panggang chicken, nonya fish, and bobo chacha were favorites among the guests. Impressively, the prawn fritters remained crispy even after being left out for hours. The portion sizes were adequate, and the decoration was noteworthy. Each dish was clearly labeled. Communications were clear and set up was on time.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does Elsie Kitchen charge per pax?

Elsie Kitchen uses a per-pax pricing model, which is standard for buffet and event catering. Singapore market norms run S$15–25/pax for standard buffets (minimum roughly 30 pax), S$25–40/pax for premium spreads, and S$18–30/pax for mini-buffets catering to smaller groups of 8–15 pax. Live-station formats typically sit at S$30–60/pax. Contact Elsie Kitchen directly for their current menu tiers and minimums, as pricing varies by menu selection and guest count. Beyond the per-pax rate, confirm what is included: delivery and setup to your venue, chafing dishes and warmers, serving tongs and disposables, and whether a buffet attendant is on-site (typically S$80–150 per attendant if not bundled). Delivery surcharges may apply for non-central addresses, and GST will be added to the final invoice. A deposit is usually required on confirmation, with the balance due closer to the event date. What dietary options and halal certification does Elsie Kitchen offer?

For events with Muslim guests, halal certification matters — a MUIS-issued certificate with a valid licence number and expiry date is the required standard. 'No pork no lard' or 'halal-friendly' labelling without MUIS certification is not equivalent and will not meet the requirements of guests who observe strict halal. Ask Elsie Kitchen directly whether their kitchen holds a MUIS certificate and whether it covers the full menu or only selected items, as this affects how a mixed dietary event is managed. Beyond halal, confirm availability of vegetarian options (lacto-ovo or vegan), no-beef dishes for Hindu guests, gluten-free alternatives, and nut-free preparations where allergy risk is a concern. For events with a genuinely mixed dietary mix, ask whether halal and non-halal items are prepared and served using separate equipment and utensils. A menu tasting before committing to a package is worth arranging — most reputable caterers accommodate this for orders above a minimum value.

Is Elsie Kitchen licensed and how is food safety handled?

Legitimate caterers operating in Singapore hold an SFA Food Shop or Catering Licence, with a hygiene grade of A, B, C, or D — A being the highest standard. No regulatory licences are currently on file for Elsie Kitchen in this listing, so prospective clients should request a copy of the SFA licence and confirm the current hygiene grade directly before booking. For food safety at the event itself, hot food should be held above 60°C and cold dishes below 5°C per SFA guidelines, with a cooked-to-served window of roughly 2–3 hours for hot dishes. Confirm the estimated setup arrival time and how far in advance food is transported, as this affects the hold time before guests are served. Also clarify the policy for leftover food — proper packaging and handling after the buffet closes matters, especially for larger events. Avoid caterers who cannot produce their SFA licence on request, regardless of how their social media presence looks. Confirm the SFA Food Shop or Catering Licence (and MUIS halal certificate where required), book a tasting before paying the deposit, and put the per-pax rate, minimum headcount, dietary mix, delivery and setup window, and balance schedule in writing.
