Mr Liau has been incredibly helpful in helping me achieve my A in GP. Before joining his online classes, I had constantly been a C/D student and disliked studying GP as I had felt like it was a very abstract topic. However, Mr Liau's excellently curated CSMC and UT lessons helped broaden my narrow views on the topic and made me genuinely enjoy learning GP. His lessons, although online, still manage to be extremely entertaining and easy to follow through Mr Liau's consistent engagement with us, his students. Mr Liau's teaching materials have proved to be universally useful and effective in helping me improve my answering methods and stock up on good case studies, ultimately getting me that A in the A levels even though I only joined in J2. Overall highly recommended for his expertise and professionalism🙏
Mr Liau’s teaching methodology is a rare gem in our rigid education system. His classes made me realise how education is so much more beyond rigid structures, and involves room for flexibility and authentic thinking. GP was my weakest subject because of all the fixed rules I followed which unfortunately led to a poor comprehension of what GP is ultimately about. His classes inform me of various interdisciplinary ways of thinking, and do not impose a set list of steps to “ace GP”, which worked effectively in allowing me to see world issues from a more analytical lens. Scored my first ‘A’ in GP in the actual A Levels as a less than average student in school, truly all kudos to Mr Liau, an excellent teacher who has clearly cracked the code to teaching GP well. I sincerely recommend him to students who grapple with GP in school!
Thoroughly enjoyed my experience learning with Mr. Liau. Although I only joined a few months into j2, I feel that his lessons were able to catch me up very well. I enjoyed that he highlighted the importance of learning cross dimensional case studies rather than forcing ourselves to memorise many examples that can only be used for very specific essays, which was what I was doing in the past, which made me have a very hard time with gp and consistently getting ‘Cs’. I feel that his lessons cover a wide variety of topics and issues in an interesting and engaging manner, he does not only gloss over examples we should remember, he goes into each case study and links them to larger thematic issues which definitely helped my writing to be more insightful. I’m very thankful for his insight and teaching! He managed to pull my grades from a C or worse to ultimately scoring an A for GP which I never expected!
I joined Mr Liau’s GP tuition only in J2, and I was getting a consistent C grade in GP exams up until then. During his lessons, he went through many comprehensive and interdisciplinary case studies that were relevant and impactful to today’s society, and overtime I gained knowledge in many disciplines and topics. During Prelims, I got an A for GP for the first time, and I got 42/50 for my essay. The case studies Mr Liau went through were very helpful in giving me the confidence to write about topics that I previously would not have considered writing. During the ‘A’ Level GP Paper 1, I did a question about governance despite having only studied the topic from Mr Liau’s case study notes and I got an A for GP at ‘A’ Levels! I’m very thankful towards Mr Liau and the quality of his online lessons and resources. My ability to do well at an essay topic that I was previously unfamiliar with is a testament to his passionate and engaging teaching style, and that his lessons made sense to me very quickly because of his explanation of the topics. Thank you Mr Liau for my A in GP!
It was a great pleasure to be under Mr Liau’s tutelage for GP. His signature approach of substance over style aided my grasp on the topics covered, which was especially helpful in a subject as interpretive as GP. During his classes, I actually felt like I was critically thinking about how to directly answer essay questions instead of regurgitating content notes, hoping for a lucky shot in the dark. This was primarily due to how the case study notes were structured. Aside from being extensive, the notes probed us to consider how these case studies could be applied to a myriad of topics. Would highly recommend signing up for his classes early to experience the syllabus comprehensively. That being said, Mr Liau was still able to bump my GP grade from a C in school to an A for A levels, even though I only joined after the March holidays in J2. Thank you Mr Liau!

Many tuition centres in Singapore offer a trial class, sometimes at a reduced fee or as part of the first session, to allow students and parents to assess fit before committing to a full term. When attending a trial, pay attention to whether the teaching pace matches your child's current level, whether the tutor engages the student meaningfully, and whether the class size allows for sufficient individual attention. It is reasonable to attend one trial before paying for a term package. Ask GPMyLastStraw directly about their trial class policy, associated cost, and what the session will cover, so you and your child can make an informed decision.
Tutor credentials at GPMyLastStraw — such as NIE or MOE teaching background, university degree, years of classroom or tuition experience, and alignment with specific syllabuses (MOE Primary, O-Level, A-Level, IB, IGCSE, or AP) — are not publicly listed and should be asked about directly before enrolment. When speaking with the centre, it is worth asking which tutor will take your child's class, what their academic and professional background is, and how long they have been teaching the relevant subject and level. This information is especially important if your child has a specific examination target or learning gap to address.
